MicroShift Advent X / Shimano Deore Hybrid - Followup

- About a year ago I created the “Deont X” hybrid drivetrain by combining a Shimano Deore derailleur with a Microshift Advent X shifter and cassette. After riding it happily for about 9 months, the Deore derailleur had an unfortunate incident with a stick which bent the cage beyond repair. So, I put the Advent X derailleur back on.
Going back to the Advent X instantly reminded my why I changed it in the first place. The Deore clutch engagement is so much better. But there are a few little things I like more about the Advent X. So let’s take a deep dive into both of them in this follow up video.

I've heard the 8-speed Acolyte derailleur is compatible with the Advent X shifter and I wonder how well that setup actually works considering the low cost of the derailleur
Nice, might be worth trying. Even more budget friendly!
in my experience you have to grease shimano jockey wheel bushings, not lube. Heavy oil would probably be best.
Thanks for the tip. If the ones in the new derailleur get squeaky I’ll take them off and grease them.
Will this work with the sword levers?
Advent X and Sword are supposed to be compatible so I’d think so. Although I’d probably go full Sword since it has all the benefits that Deore has.
Thanks for doing Microsoft reviews. I would be interested in buying this for my XC bike to replace an old 10spd slx setup, as I believe 10 speed is plenty. I’m running an SLX/ethirteen setup on another bike and a deore/slx on another, I am a big fan of SLX.
Yep 10 is plenty for me. All about the overall range.
Have you ever looked at the shimano cues 👍🏻
I have. The derailleur itself looks very similar to Deore 11/12 speed but they say the cable pull ratio is different and they aren’t cross compatible. This would mean not compatible with Advent X either then.
Oh ok I’m in two minds weather to go with a shimano or advent x 👍🏻
Right on, well I can tell you that Cues is heavy. Heavier even than Deore. Supposed to be very durable though.
12 speed XT M8100 Pulley Wheels should be compatible.
I bet they would. I should have done more research before.
