    Wow you’ve gotten really good! Impressed. I remember when you were still in school. Keep learning & Keep Groovin.

    Nice work. It's good to know that these circuits come matched from the factory.

    Having a Logitech Harmony is great, you can get a used one for just a few €, and you will have a remote for anything you wish. I use it for all the hifi that goes through my house, it's brilliant for testing.

    For most TV's you can go into service menu and change panel type and etc. Some you do have to swap chip and usually work's.

    DrCasette, may i suggest the Logitech Harmony remote control for your hobby. It is a brilliant sollution for someone who is repairing audio/video aplieances Logitech has a huge database for remote control and the Harmony is programmed via USB with Logitech app.

    @DrCassette Habe ein ähnliches Modell von Toshiba, bei dem das Display flackert. Die ersten 1-2 Minuten ist alles einwandfrei und dann fängt das Bild an zu flackern. Erst ganz leicht, dann immer stärker. Hast du ne Idee was das sein könnte?

      Das wird wahrscheinlich ein Problem mit der LED-Hintergrundbeleuchtung sein, entweder gibt es bei den LEDs ein Problem, oder beim Netzteil dafür...

    Wouldn't entering the service menu and changing the panel settings work instead of replacing the memory chip?

    • @DrCassette
      @DrCassette  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think such a "service menu" even exists. Note the picture was not just upside down, but also the colours were all wrong and the On Screen Display did not match what the actual OSD of the Toshiba looks like. The chip contains not just some panel settings, it must contain the entire firmware, everything software-related that makes the TV work.

      DrCassette well at least on LG TVs you can choose which panel is installed on the menu, wrong colours (solarization) is normal when the wrong panel is selected in the service menu. On the LG service menu you can choose which size panel is installed and which manufacturer (AUO, Sharp, LG, etc...) but if the entire firmware was different then you made the right and easiest choice.

      Are you sure there's not a tiny 'reset' button somewhere on the board?

      @@DrCassette had same problem, wrong colors and flipped image after trying to flash some random firmware, you can fix it with the service menu but if you can find another firmware it's even better

    This must have been one of the last of the real Toshiba sets on sale... sadly all the newer ones are made by Vestel.

      This unit while probably assembled by Liteon judging by the power supply, it seems to use a Samsung panel.

      The picture of the Toshiba does look good to me. We have a "Grundig" LCD TV that is way worse, that thing is my reference for a bad TV. Massive backlight bleeding is only one of the many issues it has. Please keep in mind that this Toshiba TV cost me only about 50€ for parts and a few hours of work.

      The S6 does have an IR sensor. You can even use the Peel Smart Remote, it's rather annoying but still has a lot of equipment in it's database.

    • @DrCassette
      @DrCassette  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh yes, I remember I de-activated that Peel app at some point because I didn't need it.
