3:25 Aww the way he talks about his character is touching. It seems like he was passionate about portraying her honestly as possible.

Patrick was passionate about every role he played. He was authentic, and the more he worked, the better he became as an actor.

It showed a deep understanding when he pointed out that in Tootsie and Doubtfire the characters "were men playing women" but here he was playing "a man who could have no identity or life unless she was a woman." I think that no matter how outdated or problematic the movie gets over time, trans people still love the movie because of the passion and empathy Swayze (and Snipes and Leguizamo) put into the roles at a time where it really could have been a mockery. You can even hear the interviewer trying to harp on the silliness of it, but I remember Patrick saying in another interview that it was the most emotional acting experience he's had, and it comes across on film.

To add to this... John gave an interview later on that revealed he and Swayze had a lot of creative differences on the set. So that is probably whom he is referring to when he says a lot of people had a lot of ideas and there were clashes. Because ultimately they all did want to do a good job, so it seems like John Leguizamo was definitely one of those people who had a definite idea of how things should be.

God, how I wish I could send him a letter just to thank him for Vida Boheme. While most people wouldn't have made it past the novelty back then, these three actors played their characters with a true respect for them. And it made a world of difference to a young gay kid in the Midwest with aspirations to be a drag queen..

Love Some Like It Hot and Tootsie, this movie fits beautifully with those classics, and I think that male actors really get a since of what it’s like to live a woman physically, maybe some mental aspects slip in there too, and I love the movies because they’re heartwarming and show a side that’s nurturing as well as glamorous, well done Patrick, may you RIP

My mom introduced me to this movie when I was too young to really understand it, but I always enjoyed it, it was so funny and I didn’t know names and stuff but I knew all 3 of the main characters, and then I also didn’t realize rizo from the original grease and even Robbie Williams made an appearance, but I never realized that they were playing drag queens, it wasn’t until I thoroughly watched the movie as I got older and saw the beginning bit of them getting into their drag attire that I was like oooohhh now I get it, but such a classic good film and I would love for them to make another version of this in the future
