Every time you give us a thumbs up a Narwhal gets its horn! (maybe..) - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน
What do you think is the most important line in Harry Potter??
You’re correct and it’s not close
Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one remembers, to turn on the light (when it comes to real life, not the plot. Plot wise you guys are right)
Could you do a video on what if Snape heard and told Voldemort the whole prophecy?
why u call it a film theory when it’s a book theory
Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
- Matthew 6:21
Great life lesson, I find.
I've always considered it to be "alas, earwax."
Ah, a man of culture
Has to be “Nitwit, Blubber, Oddment, Tweak”
My seven year old just read this part of the first book. So now she just says it randomly 😅
Winning comment!!!
@@loremistressanna Do you mean "Alas, earwax?" Or "Nitwit, blubber, oddment, tweak?"
'You don't have to call me sir professor' is secretly the most important line
I’m currently on Half blood Prince and listened to this part like 30 minutes ago and chuckled out loud 😂
Such a shame we didn't see it in the movie.
@@isaacking2862 I can still hear and see Alan Rickman say it in my mind even if it wasn't in the movie. U know the character and voice so well after watching it so many times u can just imagine it, but yeah it was a real shame.
Edit: I meant the response snape gave to harry.
"I know what a nickname is, Potter."
I hope they have this in the new series
Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love.
That's the entire point of the story in one line. I'd call that important.
Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who bought the Cursed Child.
Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all, those who are willing to trash their own legacy, reputation and spend their personal fortune bashing an already vulnerable minority that's been used by far-right spooks as scapegoat for real issues that affect all women, cis and trans, whilst contradicting the values their own literary work supposedly stands for.
@@6Pokefan9Hatt Wish I could give this more thumbs up, I'd give you eleventy-billion thumbs up squared.
@@6Pokefan9Hatt❤ 💯to creativity and humour!
"have a biscuit, potter" is my humble submission
McGonagall was a boss! “I do not normally allow people to talk while I am teaching.”
When I read this as a kid I was so confused why she had biscuits laying around, as actual biscuits are really only good fresh. Then I learned what biscuits mean in British. 😂😂😂
“May I offer you a cough drop, Delores?”
@@kaylahensley1581Synonymous with TickTac's 😂!!!
"Have another biscuit" she said irritably, thrusting the tin at him. "No, thanks" said Harry coldly. "Don't be ridiculous" she snapped. He took one. "Thanks" he said grudgingly.
"What exactly is the function of a rubber duck?"
Without this line, I wouldn't have an existential crisis everytime I watch Sesame Street.
Fun fact, the function is to keep u company during a bath. The inventer created it bcz he was feeling lonely whenever he took baths n he liked ducks so he made the rubber duck :)
@@locabsgg94 I could have sworn the function was to let Jeep Owners let everyone else know they own a Jeep
@erikhuff7453 XD what part of the world are u from? Where I'm from I have nvr seen a Jeep with a rubber duck. Not even during the 2yrs that I lived in Kentucky US
@@locabsgg94 OMG really?? You should Google it because it's an absolutely ridiculous trend 😂
@@locabsgg94 I thought it was to facilitate the function of imagining airplanes drifting across a cloudless sky... or possibly dragons, if you're into that.
I would argue that "stand aside you silly girl" is the most important line because if he didn't give her the choice the protection wouldn't have worked
Agreed
voldemort saying the word silly is so cursed
And the only reason why he gave her the choice in the first place is because Snape begged him to spare her
So it all comes back to Love
Well I guess the prophecy would be the most important line then, because Voldemort wouldn't have gone after Lily in the first place without the prophecy
@@travishayslip9409 Only because Voldemort made it so.
My favorite line in Goblet of fire is “if you want to know what a man is truly like, take a look at how he treats his inferiors not his equals”
“if you want to know what a man is truly like, take a look at how much he benches"
Pretty insightful
@@sarahlandis289 yep
“Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?” I've always read it like a meta message to the reader. Because when you're reading the book and imagine all the things that you are reading, the story is literally happenning in your head! And it's nice to think that it all exist somehow, all aventures, all characters and places, are for a brief moment real, in a certain way. It's like reading is a real-life magic that can create worlds!
I never thought of it that way. So beautiful. Thank you!
YES!
I agree, this is the sentence that immediately came to mind for me. My favorite moment in the series!
This is also one of my favorite lines!
There's an SCP based off of this idea, imagine this concept with horror stories and monstrosities being created in a world because you are reading it.
'Some say he died ... codswallop in my opinion. Don't think he had enough human left in him to die' Is such an underrated line by Hagrid. he literally predicted the horcruxes; Voldemort didn't have all of his soul left in him so he couldn't die. And especially since Hagrid isn't technically educated and isn't seen as one of the wiser characters.
this need more upvotes
I think Hagrid can be very wise. He’s wise but not intelligent.
He was simply uneducated. But, not unintelligent. Intelligence is having or showing the ability to easily learn or understand things or to deal with new or difficult situations. Even infants can be intelligent. Hagrid just isn't book smart.
Have you guys read the theory where Hagrid is secretly a death eater… it explains how he has this forbidden knowledge XD
I like the Sirius line "the world isn't split between good people and death eater."
Mine is “if you want to know what a man is truly like, take a look at how he treats in inferiors not his equals”
I was going to say this one !
“DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIRE!!” -He asked calmly
I was almost hoping they would troll with this clip before revealing the actual line, since both are from Goblet of Fire... XD
😂😂😂
I often think of dumbledore asking all questions in that tone because of that scene "HOW ARE YOU FEELING TODAY MINERVA?" he enquired softly.
It was more line : DJIDJYEPTYONAMINDAGOBLETOFAYAH ?!!"
*beats tf out of him
"There will be a time when we must choose between what is easy and what is right" is the strongest and most important line for me.
Me too!
It surely gives a lot of testament to what a character Dumbledore is
My favourite line has always been: "It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live". The most important line is "it is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities"
100 percent agree
"It unscrews the other way." Is easily iconic from Minerva McGonagall, and a crime that it wasn't in the movies
Peeves being left at was a crime in itself.
They rubbed us off of a lot of cool McGonagall lines in the movies, especially because Maggie Smith was amazing (e.g., have a biscuit, Potter)
It also begs the question of HOW McGonagall knew that fact.
Robbed us of? Because what you said sounds quite gross 😂@@aslihanerol9224
Well since Peeves wasn't in the movies...
The quote in the 3rd book “ happiness can be found even in the darkest of times. If one only remembers to turn on the light”
that line is actually only in the movie

"Just because you have the emotional range of a teaspoon”
I meeeean "Not my Daughter, you *****" does kind of sum up the franchise pretty well... Whose to say Lily didn't say something similar?
Yeah yeah yeah! And it carries the whole motherly love thing.
"Not my son you son of a *****!! "
Lily's words are "Please not Harry"
As soon as I saw the thumbnail I was like “it’s the gleam isn’t it”. Ahh I’ve been watching these guys for so long
Yep! Me too! ❤
Yep i though the same thing
They said it on the podcast
I was literally moving towards my bookshelf to grab the book to type out the exact line when he said it.
“You dare use my spells against me potter” is the best
i remember reading the book and getting to that line and thinking that same thing, largely becos that only confirms it in the most badass way possible. that just convinced me how good that book really is. honestly its probly my next to fav one. i suppose it could tie with the poa, but dh is still num 1.
" Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?' "
That could get really meta...
Imaginationland has broken into the harry potter universe
"Mr. and Mrs. Dursley of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much." It's the opening, it at least has candidacy for most important line.
Not really, since the Dursleys are not really that important overall. In a literal way, it is of course the sentence that started it all.
@@countluke2334 Hmm... But one could argue that line is important a little because it proves that were the most mundane boring and normal because ..They werent significant lol
This is not a line per se, but my favourite moment is when you realise that Snape is one of the people becoming clearer in the fake Moodys foe glass. Snape’s true allegiance to Dumbledore is stated so plainly many times in that scene through the foe glass and I just read over it like it was nothing at first 😂
EXCELLENT point
Yer a wizard Harry! The one that Started it all!
that's a pretty good one...
That line changed a lot. Not only for harry but also for countless people discovering the wizarding world through the books
@@mumbaicharteredaccountantyou mean for memes
true
It's actually harry yer a wizard. I know I know annoying ain't it
“We’ll send you a Hogwarts toilet seat!” 🫡
"I solemnly swear that I am up to no good."
One thing I've learned reading Harry Potter is if someone thinks they imagined something, it's probably actually really important and will pay off eventually.
VIdeo idea: What if at the end of the third book, Sirius or Lupin literally just stunned/petrified Peter before leaving the shrieking shack, preventing him from ever escaping? Never understood why they DIDN'T do that, especially since Hermione had no problem freezing Neville at the end of the first book...
Even before we knew all the details from later books, that line stood out to me from the first time I read it. It's rather heartwarming, really. It was from that moment that Dumbledore knew that there was a way to save Harry's life and still ensure that Voldemort could be defeated. Up until then, he really did feel like he was "raising him like a pig for slaughter." I can just imagine him hearing Grindlewald's voice in his head all the way up to that point, "For the greater good."
The way Malfoy says "POTTER" is truly the best and pivotal part of enjoying the show
“Harry you wonderful boy, you brave brave man” summarizes Harry’s character arc very succinctly
I absolutely noted this line the first time I read the book and I waited and waited for it to make sense later in the series and it never made sense to me until you explained it on this channel.
It has to be Dumbledore's gleam of triumph in the eye.
“For a fleeting instant, Harry thought he saw a gleam of something like triumph in Dumbledore's eyes. But next second, Harry was sure he had imagined it, for when Dumbledore had returned to his seat behind the desk, he looked as old and weary as Harry had ever seen him.”
Now if we are talking quotes specifically it has to be " Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory"
Cedric was not a good or bad person he was an innocent person murdered by voldemort. Its the turning point of the franchise. And Dumbledore is saying this knowing the ministry will essentially crucify his and harrys reputation for it. It does not matter. Do what is right, not easy.
Its not a line, but one of my favorite things while reading the books was when i realized they mentioned the diadem in passing in half blood prince when harry hides the book. It was such a huge and exciting moment for me to know and remember the diadem before Harry did, without the author telling us outright.
I’ll give you the “gleam” line, but for me it’s Gotta be the final line: and his scar never bothered him again (paraphrased from memory of course). True, magical, closure and resolution to our story.
Except it's in the only chapter I refuse to read 😅
I think the one that moves me most as time goes on is “ it is not our abilities that show what we truly are , it is our choices”
Along with Sirius “we all have good and bad inside of us. What matters is the part we choose to act on”
That's my favorite line from them all as well. It may not be the line most central to the plot but it is a very strong point to keep in mind all through life.
As a teacher, I always thought this was the most important line. I see the truth of it every school year!
ive been waiting 7 YEARS for someone else to find this line meaningful and connect all of these dots. thank you.
Don’t know if the most important line in the series…but in book 5 during Dumbledore and Harry’s talk after Serious’s death when he tells Harry that he has witnessed harry struggle through more hardships than any other student in Hogwarts history…that gets me every time…or in the Goblet of Fire when Harry kinda of breaks down after telling Molly that it was his fault that Cedric took the cup at the same time as Harry and then she hugs him like a mother and that he has never experienced a hug like that before….tugs at my heartstrings every time
I think Harry knowing that he won't die would not affect it, but as mentioned in the book, when Harry does the big reveal speech in the final duel he says that by meaning to die he also cast sacrificial protection on Hogwarts (as seen by the fact that after that no "good guy" dies, and Voldemorts Curses have no lasting effect). This most likely would not have happened if he knew he wouldn't die, so not telling Harry was actually not just for Harrys best, but instead for entire Hogwarts best.
I know that my two most quoted lines from Harry lines are "Always" and "Alas, earwax". To me, the most important line is "Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love".
Heyyy Brother!
Harry, looking back at his first Chocolate Frog card: "He's gone!"
Ron: "Well, you can't expect him to hang around all day."
This explains how Dumbledore always knows what's going on. Harry Chocolate Frog card Dumbledore visits Dumbledore's Chocolate Frog card Dumbledore and reports what he's seen. Why else would Dumbledore say, "As long as they don't take me off the Chocolate Frog card" when he was being stripped of all his other honors?
Would that work? But that's genius, has SCB made a video about that yet???
That's a wicked theory

video idea: What if Voldemort simply just stunned Lily, never giving her a chance to sacrifise herself for Harry?
But Voldemort's hubris meant he would never not go for the kill. And if he didn't have the hubris, he wouldn't be him. Its the same as what if he learnt how to use a muggle method of killing Harry? Except his hatred of his muggle history meant he would never.
@@J0sI-I New Series: "Voldy Would Never..." 😝
He would stun lily, kill Harry, then kill lily
@@susanclay4225 He completely underestimated the concept of love and so overlooked sacrificial love magic
'Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?'
"It is not our abilities that show us who we truly are. It is our choices"
Video idea- how did Voldemort actually jinx the DADA position
Yeah, and why didn't he undo it when quirril, snape, barty crouch jr, or amaycus carrow was in the role?
Perhaps it wasn't intentional? I know it usually happens with younger children, but what if Voldemort was so furious at being denied the position, his magic got the better of him and he placed the curse by accident. He did have other things on his mind after all, like getting up to the 7th floor and hiding Ravenclaw's diadem in the room of requirement.
“You’re a wizard, Harry!” Is my submission because it literally builds the world and sets the entire series in motion. It’s the introduction to the Hero’s journey and therefore it’s imho the most important
@SuperCarlinBrothers Can owls see through poly juice potion? If you had addressed a letter to mad eye Moody in book 4, would it go to Barty Crouch? Or the chest? If the chest, why doesn’t the ministry of magic use owls as poly juice detection?
I had a similar realization a while back. While he's on the run, Sirius tells Harry just to send a letter by owl, and the owl will find him. Despite having just said that he's hiding somewhere so sneaky the Dementors will NEVER find him. So I was just imagining Fudge casually writing a letter to Sirius, sending it off on a random owl, and then tracking that owl as it finds him for them.
Then when he gets there he realizes that Sirius managed to trick the owl by having it send the letter to a random black dog instead of to Sirius :P
"You don't have to do this alone, mate" - Ronald Billius Weasley. Harry's bonds with those around him are so important.
This is amazing foreshadowing and I didn't understand its significance even after multiple readings/Jim Dale narrations. My favorite line personally, though I can't remember if it is in the book or just the movie, but it is "it does not do, to dwell on dreams and forget to live."
⚠️ Off topic from video day 3 of asking for what ifs⚠️
What if Dudley went to Hogwarts?
What if Aang died with the other air nomads and one of the other characters eventually became the avatar? I think the most interesting would be Sokka and Zuko.
What if Prim became the Mockingjay? The only way I see this happening is if Katniss gets caught hunting and either gets killed or sent to the Capital and becomes an avox a year or two before Prims game.
Great video! Always leaves summat to think about.

There are so many beautiful lines in the series.
I'm glad one of the recommended videos on the sidebar is the video I am currently watching and commenting on right now!🤔🙃
Wait that's not supposed to be possible. What did you DO?
Well, I'm quite partial to, "Of course it's all happening in your head! Why should that mean it isn't real?"

My favourite line:
‘Indifference and neglect often do much more damage than outright dislike.’
Agreed! This line was stuck in my head, like a puzzle I couldn’t solve, until I finally read the “King’s Cross” chapter in Deathly Hallows.
Hi J and Ben I am a big fan ❤
I was guessing it would be that line when I saw the video title, and was happy to get it right! You guys should do a video of the most awesome or emotional lines.
What if, during the final duel between Harry and Voldemort, Harry had simply used "Accio Elder Wand" before Voldemort used Avada Kedavra? What would the now wandless and defenseless Voldemort have done?
That line actually did stand out to me when I first read it, though ofc I didn't yet know what I meant. Fortunately, I can't stop watching your videos even though I'm not finished with the books, so I understand things I haven't even read yet better than I would if I'd just read them.
I'd say it's when dumbledore tells Harry, in his second year, why he's able to talk to snakes. That some of Voldemorts Power was transferred to Harry. It's where the reader gets the first hint on Harry being a horcrux.
That's a fantastic idea! The Dudley thing and the Aang and Zuko thing, brilliant!
“DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN THE GOBLET OF FIRE!!!!!!!!?” Dumbledore asked calmly. 🤣🤣🤣
I was gonna guess the gleam...nice...ty for the continued great content.
That line was one I dwelled upon so long while waiting for the last 2 books to come out.
I knew it had to be “a gleam of triumph.” It just shows how focused Dumbledore was in defeating Voldemort and how he figured out how Harry can survive the final battle while still sacrificing himself for the greater good.
Please do a video about what dumbeldore means when he says yes... But in essence divided
This actually had stood out to me as a young reader as well for some reason
Gilderoy Lockhart, Order of Merlin, Third Class, Honorary Member of the Dark Force Defense League, and five times winner of Witch Weekly's Most Charming Smile Award. But I don't talk about that; I didn't get rid of the Banden Banshee by smiling at him.
Imagine if Voldemort just said " nah im fine" left Harry to do his thing until he eventually dies of old age, and then after working under cover for like 100-150years or so can come to light and do whatever since he is supposed to live forever?
The most important line is whatever words preceded Hagrid's "I should not have said that"
His blunders are the driving force behind the plot in every book
Heyyyy Brother!!

Hi! Please breakdown Disney's Wish! There's so much there
are you guys gonna make spinoff series or shows with puns on the other founders too? Like 'Slyther in or slyther out', 'between the raven's claws', 'how the huffle puffs', or something. no idea what they'd be about though
Dumbledore:
,,I'm raising this child like a pig for slaughter, but only for the greater good."
Grindelwald:
"You're a Wizard Harry!" *mic drop*
I knew it was this line. When I saw the name of this video, the gleam of triumph line instantly flew into my mind.
"Me? Books and cleverness. There are more important things. Friendship, and bravery."
"Of course this is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on Earth should that mean that it isn't real?"
'What do you get when you add powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?'
if only we'd deciphered that when we first read it. A lot of motives would've been exposed a lot sooner.
Hi Ben!
Hey, SuperCarlinBrothers! Have you ever thought about doing a video or a few on the books of Cressida Cowell?
She wrote such books as How To Train Your Dragon and The Wizards Of Once, etc. and there are a remarkable amount of similarities between her stuff and Harry Potter even though it's still so different.
It just seems right up yous's ally to me!
PS.: The writings of Sir Terry Pratchett are literally THE BEST by the way. But since the feel is so different I didn't immediately think about it. But it's SO GOOD. I think yous'll love it just the same.
GNU Terry Pratchett. Speak his name.
I did not expect such an important line from the dramatic masterpiece "The Room" to come up in the middle of this video.
I remember reading this at like 15 and thinking OH MY GOD WHAT IF DUMBLEDORE IS SECRETLY EVIL/ON VOLDY'S SIDE!!!!! I'm like that's why everyone trusts snape "just cos dumbledore says" but doesn't actually have their own reason to trust snape. I was like OH NO WIZARD GRANDPA. I mean dumbledore certainly made a myriad of mistakes but I'm so glad I was wrong. I'm sitting there like WHAT DO YOU MEAN TRIUMPH?!?!?!?
honestly the one that has always stayed with me is "when you have to make a choice between what is right, and what is easy..."
and because it's important to me that people remember the level of sass harry has "wow, i wonder what it's like to have a difficult life"
😂Oh my god, thank you for sharing this! I know: Dumbledore has some moments where his dark-side can show a bit. Obviously this was not actually an example of it, but when you didn't know everything, it could feel a little bit uncertain at times, and even _after_ you knew everything, it was like, "Okay, so...he was a little bit cold and calculating at times, but it was clear that he did have a heart, and in the end he was a massive force for good." Definitely a complex and interesting person.
“Yer a wizard ‘arry” is the most iconic 🤷🏽♂️
Ron Weasley's "Can I have a look at Uranus, Lavender?". It is the greatest example I keep giving about why books should be read in the original language they were written in, that joke didn't work in my native language and it took me years to figure out what was going on there.
Totally agree with you! Deff the most important line.
“Have a biscuit, Potter.”
I always was very fond of this line, ever since i first read the book (even before OOTP came out). I knew Dumbledore was hiding something that despite looking sinister under the circumstances, i knew it couldn't be. I knew it would pay out in the end and it did indeed.
This is awesome
"Better out than in" … not even Voldy could argue with that, but I'm sure he'd snigger at it though [insert Voldy laughing clip here]
Loved your video as always. I have a small request (I know it will be buried in 1000s of comments), if you could use the book interpretation of Voldemort's death (13:59) I know that here at SCB you are true to books but this scene always pops up in videos and it is the farthest one can go from the book ending of Tom Riddle ,who died like a mortal with a body. Once again thanks for everything you do for the community with all your amazing content especially the podcast.
