I'm 41 and I like seeing these later Matchbox toys being restored as they look familiar to me from what I played with as a child. The 1950's/60's models are only interesting to me from a historical point of view, whereas these later ones create a lot of nostalgia! Great video!

Egads what a transformation. That car looked almost hopeless. Can't believe what a difference the details and time it took to make it race worthy!

I like that y'all had those in Australia. These fords are one of my favorites. I find that these casings don't look too much like the actual model but your finished model looks more like a rally Escort. I'm always on the look out for old fords. I told my local charity shop not to throw any away no matter how beat they are because there is always something that can be done with them. I love the escorts and sierra's the most.

I saw the other car and I like this one better. The other guy did more paint detail with a clear coat. But you not only made a great rollcage, but completely redid the back seat and added custom spot lights and exhaust. This car has my vote

I have a whole case with around 150 old Matchbox and Hot Wheels toy cars from my childhood days in my basement. Most of them are from the 70's and 80's. 3/4 of them are US-Cars. Some are DieCast Disasters and some are still in good shape. Maybe I should also start to restaurate some of them and put them in a showcase.

I have used this method before, using the plastic to make windows for my Model RR buildings, it completely slipped my mind. I have wrecked two windows this week and now remember "after watching your video of course" I can just use some plastic from the blister pack to rebuild them. Wow! Thanks a whole lot!! Subbed.

I loved being thrashed around in these cars especially the rs2000 it was road but rally. Bright yellow blue detail's. Roll cage, mesh in the head rests. 4 star wheels had blue in them and forking roared. I nearly caused its door to fly off. "is that door shut" yh. Spins it 180 into a car park door flies open 4-5yr old me clings to the side bars lucky they were fitted. Oh he was mad if look's could kill. Stepdads best m8's car. I loved those cars. Through the 90s.

How cool is this! Matchbox Superfast no9, from 1978. I have a mint one, untouched, exactly the same as this. White, with yellow/light blue/dark blue decals from Shell/Dunlop/Cibie, and a huge Ford oval on the bonnet with RS2000 in red letters also on the bonnet. Or hood, lol. And the towbar is there. And, yeah, no 9 is also a huge number in red, on the doors. D@mn, i have had it in 41 years! :) And btw, you did a fantastic job with your restoring, cheers, and thumbs up!
