When it comes to manufacturing a car, the engine placement is just as important as the output of the engine. This one choice affects handling, weight distribution, and much more. On today's episode, Gels gives some insight on the 3 different types of engine placement for your car and whether you should buy a front, mid, or rear engine car. Which one do you prefer? A mid engined 3 rotor mazda
A vw golf or sirocco would be sweet
Literally any hatchback
Mid-engine VIPER
@@ericworthington7299 I hope that never happens, they already ruined the legacy of the Corvette
Mullets never have gone out of style and never will go out of style
Because they never were in style?

An engine swapped Pontiac Fiero can be a pretty fun car and surprise a lot of people.
Mr2 for life

**laughs in plain old oversteer**
this or that: ford gt or porsche carrera gt
Assuming early 2000 models, I would pick the Porsche, but only because of the price. I feel like the GT was just way too expensive for what it offered. I still love it though
C'mon man, that's like choosing between two of your children
Can't forget about the front mid engine cars, FD3S and others.
TH-cam subtitle says ur name is Jarrod from Fitbit Industries 😂😂😂
😂😂
my dad has used a 1st and 2nd gen mr2 as racecars and we have like three extras so my choice is obvious 😂
Same😂 Dad bought a aw11 when i was 6 and he recently gave it to me
I love those mr2s I had a 93 and felt like a v8
God i love this channel man
Still driving my 87 Fiero GT
The compression to a mullet got me rollin lol 🚗 🚘
The VW Microbus used a rear engine for a different reason. You could put storage space above the engine. Also, although it did nothing for cornering, having that engine above the drive wheels could help you out of deep snow when compared to front engine RWD vans. The VW Vanagon was also a rear engine van with storage above the engine, but the engine selection sucked. You could either get a gasoline engine that was prone to all kinds of coolant leaks, or a reliable diesel that took ages to accelerate and created so much smog that it would permanently stain the paint. As a result, people swap better and more modern engines into Vanagons and then enjoy the extra space.
FWD vans didn't allow people to sit above the engine, and the few mid engine vans were a royal pain to service. The Toyota Previa went extinct early for that reason. Sure, having an impossible to repair van might work in Japan, where most cars are forced to live a short life, but it doesn't work in the USA where people buy a Toyota so they can own it for 10 years or more without paying a fortune in repairs.
What about front mid-engine, like the S2000?
Going to be ordering some new rim from you guys soon! Hope I can come swing by the shop!
What is the Honda with the mid engine?
S2000 is front mid-engine and NSX is Mid-engine
Only the NSX..

Skoda 120L 😎
My porsche boxster is an amazing drive. slinging it around corners is super fun. grip through everythng.
I want an mr2 spyder with sequential shift
We need MR2 and Fiero returns. I mean, co-development could keep the cost down. And when they’ve depreciated enough, I can buy one.
There's a good chance Toyota and Lotus will partner up since Lotus uses Toyota engines and Lotus make mid engine cars. More likely than Toyota & GM at least
My go to rear engine car is the Porsche 911 (any of the like 20 models they have). Go to mid engine is an Audi R8
You should do a video for Up To Speed on Mazzanti
2020 GT4
Awesome, thanks bud
Corvette C8!
With the exception of me taking a Wet Corner WAY TOO FAST, that killed my car...
I LOVED my Supercharged 1986 Toyota MR2! Too Damn Light in the front!😿
The newest body style is just "FUGLY".
Will Toyota rebuild this G1 MR2 as an AWD MR2?...🤔 That would be SICK even as a Hybrid.
Talk about the toyota ke70
Do a video on c4 corvette zr1
I'll take an AWD Golf R( front engine )
A rear engine wagon would be nice... Oh, it already exists #WagoonGang This or That: Mercedes E320 or BMW E36 Touring
what. What's a rear engine wagon? Is there a wagon corvair?
lego technic Yes, there is a Chevy Corvair Wagon with the engine in the rear.
I like to start my own car company and make a simple car that will not brake and last 20 years old school without a lot of technology. Also a small simple truck with 2 doors and a key (no push button start ) no abs and tcs and escif possible . Also sport car with a chassis design to be front mid and rear engine chassis all in one . so you can make you car how you like it . also fwd and rwd and awd if you want . also Na , turbo charge ,supercharger , twincharger and hybrid engine setup with diffent trims. Maybe a boost car with twincharger VVT and a hybrid with nitrous oxide in a production car. IDK if you are able to do that . The Ford Focus did. Can a billionaire help me out or someone it be cool if we did all this
Duh the C8 (why did Chevy wait so long?)
Politics ide guess..they should have built the midengine car in the 90s when fast cars evolved..C4 was a joke against a Testarossa or Pantera

Wow! Whoever made the captions was not taking his time.
If front engine front wheel drive is cheap to make, why don’t they just flip it and make it the other way. Smaller trunk in front, engine in the back. Isn’t that basically a rear engine rear wheel drive?
Because it is more difficult to cool down the rear engine in low-normal speed. Need more advanced cooling system and no extra protection for passengers against front collision.
The front engine, FWD car tends to cost less to make because they can cram the engine, transmission, and final drive into one small unit. Having a rear engine FWD car would have all those parts separate just like a front engine RWD car. The mid or rear engine RWD setup also allowed packing all that in a small unit at a low price, and the VW Beetle and Microbus were good examples. In addition, when the engine is over the drive wheels, it makes getting out of snow easier. VW Beetles were famous for getting out of snow despite having a low price, and that was thanks to the rear engine, RWD configuration. If you placed the engine in the rear and powered the front wheels, you would get stuck as easily as a front engine RWD car in heavy snow. It might even be worse, because as you would accelerate, weight would lift off of the front wheels. You would have most of the downsides of FWD with none of the upsides.
@@skylinefever He/She asks why most cars don't use rear engine rear wheel drive instead of FWD for cutting the production costs (because RR (rear engine RWD) and FWD has same structure of drivetrain, just flipped back and forth)
For me, it is because the RR engine are rear heavy, making the front lifted easier and not very stable at straight line. Also the cooling is not as good as front engine with same cost, making long journey is not very plausible with cheap cars. Just look at Tata Nano, which is the RR cheap car that prone to got overheating engine.
Lastly, the FWD cars have highest interior volume per car size ratio than other layouts without sacrificing the center of gravity. Lower center of gravity means lower possibility to rollover.
@@govinlock8568 The cost of cooling systems does explain a lot. The VW Beetle and Microbus were air cooled, so they didn't need all that extra plumbing to install a radiator. That also probably explained why the VW Vanagon was a water cooled money pit.
Fwd civics forever 🤘🤘
You mean clown cars 🤡🤡🤡
So you want a chrysler 300?
MGTF extremely cheap now and mid engined
I kind of think a mid engine fwd car could be pretty cool, I hope someone does that one day...
Uh... You're gonna have some serious acceleration issues.
405/25R24s on the front won't save you.
It would be the world's safest car, no understeer, not enough power to oversteer, not enough traction to race
@@ReachToVictory no it wouldn’t lmao. It would have tons of oversteer due to no weight on the front. Mid engine FWD wouldn’t really have unique power constraints, just larger drivetrain losses, and no traction to race means you have no traction for braking or cornering either. Would probably be the world’s least safe car lmao!’
MR2 gang
Lamborghini Gallardo or Huracán
YES OF COURSE! Porsche is the best brand and it's even better when you add *wheels, tires, and suspension from **www.fitmentindustries.com**!*
