Our department opted to begin specifying the EQ2B electronic sirens on all our new apparatus. Why? Same DB output; much less draw on the alternator and it results in a savings when we can go to a lesser output alternator system. So far the EQ2b is just as reliable as the mechanical version but less costly.
Out here, we have Qs on every fire truck and engine. My local fire department has the Qs with the horns around them, very cool! It seems the closer you go to Chicago from where I am near (Kankakee, IL) you find the Qs turning into electronic sirens.
its sad to see that a lot of departments are taking the q2b's off the rigs because the people are complaining about it being to loud. it should be mandatory that all rigs have one or two.
Classic siren, classic sound. It's a shame that FDNY only uses the E-Qs now which in my opinion sound awful. You know it's a firetruck if you hear one of these coming down the road
Guessing they didn't want to risk the test vehicle to the 100 amp draw :) that little car would burn up with a 100 amp load. I still vote yes to mounting it on the roof just to see what happens.
Electronic Q2 is a joke. All it gives you is low tones. Just bring back the sound from the earlier PA-20 and you'll do just as good. Now if some certain Federal Signal could also make the Model 28 again that'd be a boon for EMS as well as fire services.

Thanks for watching - Good insight and points. Glad to hear that they're working well! 🚒

There is a fire department about a half a mile down my street and when they turn on that Federal Q siren you could hear it loud and clear
We have a second part that we will be posting up shortly. It will show the Federal Signal Q2B in it's full loud and powerful glory.
Guess that didn't happen?

You guys should do your next video on the electronic eq2b.
Im surpised they are not the bov for the turbo. It seems it spools at the same rate as the turbo.

I'm so disappointed with you. How can you show us a Q and not turn it on? There must be a follow up to this video hahaha
