Hahah got to love that Q I remember the first time I got to ride in the Capt seat as a firefighter , the driver looked at me and told me if you take your foot off that Q petal more than 3 seconds I’ll reach across and slap you. 😂😂 I learned from that day forward you can never have to much Q siren !! Stomp that petal!!
Until you get it too hot and burn the bearings out and you’re stuck paying hundreds of dollars to fix it. Sirens are supposed to fluctuate in sound anyway. Won’t grab any more attention from traffic sounding like an idiot holding the q down forever than when you let it go up and down
@@whistlingtomb3299 Actually he's right. Just keeping the Q peaked for extended periods of time does nothing for "warning" drivers". Although it's loud, it can get drown out (not to mention can damage the unit after a white). That's why it should fluctuate in tones and frequencies. By doing so, it goes through all different tones & pitches to grab more attention. Wish more people realized this. Like seriously, take an Emergency Vehicle Operators Course.

A MOST EXCELLENT DISPLAY OF DRIVING BY RESCUE 50'S CHAUFFEUR AND THE MOST SUPERB SOUNDS OF THE HORN, SCREAMING 'Q' SIREN AS WELL AS THE FEDERAL SIREN, A SUPERB VIDEO!!! :o)
Poor use of the Q. Purpose of the Q is not to stand on and hold it. Winding it up to full then letting it come back down is the proper use. Screaming Q just holds one tone and is not as useful.
Greg W There was pretty fluid use of the Q here. Maybe one or two points when he was pegging it, but that was only at intersections or heavy traffic areas, for only a few seconds.
The spinning light on the front of the fire truck would for sure get your attention, just never seen one like that before. I enjoyed the scenic route around town though.
I’m from NJ, and I didn’t even realize where this was (could have been anywhere in the country for all I knew) until I heard someone over the radio say “its on the Dutch Wonderland side” There’s only one Dutch Wonderland! 🤣
I remember back when I lived in New Jersey i used to do a really good fire truck siren so good that when I rode my bike I did it and I came down the road doing it people came out of their house thinking it was the real thing
Yolosweg1085 It's actually 123 deciabels, but its not really bad on the inside. Over time it's not good for you, but nothing that'll make your ears hurt. However being outside the truck as it drives past will definitely hurt
Bet they wear those headphones that I see alot of departments use so that they can hear dispatch and the other engines or whatever a lot clearer and those probably block out at least if not ALL of the Q siren.....
Woah never knew firetrucks could go this fast, usually all the other ride alongs are filmed from the inside behind the driver and passenger and from that angle the trucks look hella slow
Not 100% sure but depending on frame rate of recording, it can appear to be faster than actual truck speed was. I don’t think they were going quite the speed that it seems. Saw a couple of other handheld videos from rear seat of fire trucks that appear normal speed so better quality video equipment used. Dashcam have to record hours of video so use lower frame rates making vehicle speed higher as result.
FireRescue 50 were I live the fire station has a tower ladder but sometimes they need the hook and ladder to come if its a big emergency. pumpers can weigh up to 35K loaded, so yeah i think I may be pretty approximate at 10-Tons... you have to account for the truck, the hoses, the people, etc. Either way, I still love hearing the big turbo spool-up...
I know that when responding...Ambulances are only allowed to respond at max 15 mph over the speed limit. is it the same for firetrucks or can you do the same as police?
Our county in NW GA had a terrible mix of older, worn-out equipment. County govt finally got funding for 20 new trucks... We lost an experienced firefighter when he hit a turn too fast in one of the new tankers... Glad to see the speed limits...
