I looked at the premium, but my issue with it was that the Onyx was just really the better value over it and it’s what I purchased. For almost $500 less (my MSRP) than the optioned one in the video I got bigger 18” black wheels, dual mode X mode and the Star Tex seating which is really nice and, personally, I think the Onyx looks nicer. The one in the video has nav which I don’t need with car play or want to pay for and the moonroof which again I didn’t really care to have as I rarely use em. The only options added on mine are the exterior auto dim mirrors for $285, body side moldings for $305 and the door scuff protectors for $179. I’m glad mine didn’t come with the all weather mats because the coverage on them, especially for the driver isn’t great and I ordered 3D Kanu mats which I’ve had in other vehicles. In my opinion if you’re looking for more than the base premium (not with the $3K option pkg15) then it’s a good buy otherwise you might want to check the Onyx because it comes with everything in that option package sans the nav and moonroof.

I contemplated the same thing, but in my case I actually prefer smaller rims/more rubber so that was a plus for me with the Premium. I did like the Star Tex seating but was wondering how it would perform in hotter weather/shorts.

I don't feel a 0 to 60 testing of this vehicle is either necessary, nor does it make a difference..... reality is that if you're buying this vehicle, it's not for speed.... because that's not what it's designed for.... It is a family oriented.... long trip capable.... comfortable and fun to drive.... gas saving vehicle.... I got the pleasure of test driving one when I worked for Subaru and it totally turned me around as far as the vehicle I was going to get when I trade in my truck.... I am without doubt getting a outback.... I love the Station wagony look and it has.... the way it drives and performs.... and all the safety features which are very important.... I love that Subaru doesn't skimp on that and doesn't make you pay extra for most of those features

    • @703Speed

I noticed a lot of the cars for sale come with the auto-dimming mirrors. Something I don't need, for sure. And emergency steering? Really, you want a car to steer for you? If the seats are supportive and nicely padded for longer trips, i think a Premium is just fine, without any other garbage added. You are right -- great value. Cost less than a CrossTrek Sport, once you add the features to the CrossTrek. You mentioned lane centering -- no, just no, I would turn that off.

Can you confirm that I can get this trim version without the rear ABS? I currently have a 2019 Limited and there's no way to turn off the rear ABS permanently so it doesn't get triggered by my bike rack. You can do it each time you back up, but you cannot permanently disable it. This was confirmed by my local dealership. Thanks!

Your video on this vehicle was horrible. You should not do a video on a vehicle you do nit know how everything works. I currently own a 2023 Outback Touring XT, did own a '22 Outback Touring XT which was traded in for the '23. The hands free power lift gate works by holding hand NEAR the Subaru emblem, not touching it!! When you touch the emblem you cut the signal off to the lock. Read the owners manual. I think your recommendation of purchasing the premium with the extra packages might not be the best. A Touring trim is just slightly more and will include everything in that premium trim plus more. Try reading the owner's manuals of the vehicles you review.

@@703Speed Just my opinion: Every reviewer talks about a 0-60 time. I think that most Subaru owners (except WRX) do not dwell on how fast the vehicle can go. I never cared, I was just concerned that I could merge onto an interstate safely, and with torque at low revs, that is not an issue even with the 2.5l engine. You can tell the design quality of a vehicle by the noise the air makes when using the a/c or heat. The quieter the sound of the air moving through the ducts, the better engineered the car. Safety? look at the rear door openings, see the pin in the bottom of the door, see where the goes into the door frame, that is the structure of the vehicle. That reduces the amount of intrusion into the cabin in a side crash. My '23 Outback Touring XT is way quieter then my '22 Outback Touring XT. The Outback, Forester, Crosstrek, Ascent, Legacy and Impreza are family vehicles, sell the safety. I worked at a CarMax in sales and I sold many Outbacks to people with families because they are safe vehicles. Talk more about Eyesight, it works and I know from experience. The Eyesight in my 2015 Outback kept me from hitting a huge buck in total darkness. Find things to discuss in any vehicle you review that will set you apart from the other reviewers. Find out what about the particular vehicle is important to the customer who purchases that vehicle or type of vehicle. Try viewing Alex's videos (Bachmann Subaru), he does an excellent job. Even as I am a vehicle owner, I learn things from him.
