My first & only TC has been trying to unfurl a new lead since I got it over a month ago. Idk what's up. I got a humidifier and rubbed a warm damp cloth on it & it started to open but not much.

I just counted my monsteras… 16…. All Albo and Thai Con…. All obtained since April or more recently… they’re all various stages of juvenile, but one of my Thai cons from the spring is sizing up pretty quickly in the last 2 months, despite it getting colder here in NS 🇨🇦

OK what is it silica and how does it help with browning? I just got a Monstera Albo I’ve had it for maybe two weeks, and I’m already panicking because I’m starting to notice some discoloration on the leafs that are whiter. There is some thing I can do to help this?
I feel like my variegated plants brown when I overwater by saturating ALL the soil. The plant tries to get rid of that excess moisture by releasing those little water drops on the leaves edges. The white parts start to look translucent. Thats when browning starts.
Now when I water my variegated plants, especially in fall and winter, I don’t saturate the soil COMPLETELY. Instead I water them just enough. Not to much, not to little. If that makes any sense. This also seems to promote root growth, the roots have to grow (search) for water.
Now in the summer, when the sun is blazing, when the windows are open and there’s a constant breeze…drench that soil!
That’s my experience anyway ❤
Silica strengthens the leaf tissue. But it will also make your pH off, so be careful using it. It can also make the white more yellow, for sure. Maybe just use a little bit less?

Bonjour 😊 et merci pour cette vidéo, et pour chacune des autres. Moi, je rêve d'une monstera "marbrée", qui ne soit donc pas sujette au "brunissement", à la mort des parties claires. Je remarque vos pots aèrés de toutes parts, sur toute la hauteur du pot. Ici, en France, peu de vendeurs en proposent à la vente, et seulement en deux tailles. C'est dommage car ces contenants sont formidables pour nos plantes. Deux des miens accueillent des raphidophoras tétrasperma panachés (variégata). Bien sûr, ils s'y plaisent ! 🤩
Une question : comment faites-vous pour éviter la mort des parties blanches de nos plantes ? Belles, oui, bien sûr, mais... Merci, de toutes façons !

✋️Hi Jaclyn, I need your wisdom and advice, I bought 3 monstera albo from Derek and as you know they are in perlite, am AFRAID of planting them in soil, what do you recommend? Am so addicted to Plant Story I been getting shipments from them every week specially from Derek 😅
Do they have lots of roots and new growth? If so, put into a chunky mix and a clear pot! I did a video repotting one of mine. If you wanna check it out 😊

I use silica tps so far so good and my plants love them
It just goes in my water along with other nutrients and fertilizer, and I water it into all my plants. I use it every time I water!! Bought the bottle in June, and its still not empty! The one I've been using is pinned to the top of the comments! But I'll link it here for you, too! Any brand will be fine, though!! I
