Trivia: Before the Grim Reaper goes to sleep, he checks under his bed for Triton.
The reason Tritons wheels are the way they are is because it allows the blade to be bigger. If you look at the way the bot is now, the weapon bar passes between the upper and lower wheel sets. Having a single larger wheel would mean making the blade smaller, or changing the geometry of the robot.
Depending on how the upper and lower wheels are linked it also means that if it gets flipped over your controls aren't reversed.
Team skorpios confirmed on social media that Dragon King will have at least one fight coming. I'm not sure if it will be main competition fight based on what i have heard but it should still be quite exciting to see it in the battlebox

I don't think I've ever wanted to see a bot succeed more than Ripperoni, the dedication to the gimmick is truly awe inspiring
It had some battles, once that 3rd contact point goes, the thing just starts dancing on 1 wheel. Still have a soft spot for it tho!

@@ThatOpalGuy Make the front just a tiny bit longer or don't rely on that wedge to hold you up. Or at least some sort of bit under the raised chunk that runs along the floor. After seeing it go catawampus shortly into the first fight I saw it do I feel like that should have been seen in the building process. Honestly if they just roll with the problem I can't see this thing being competitive or last long. Then again I thought Huge was stupid and it's proven quite competitive so what do I know? XD

I agree and the weapon is so nasty it could make a good run at the giant nut if it gets some favorable match ups.
RIPperoni is my bet for the best new commer award this season just from the fact that if this thing works like it's meant to with it's huge fly wheel on the back to heavily reduce the gyro from the massive spinner is going to be nuts and really not have the same weaknesses that uppercut had
I hope it helps with the gyro as thats definitely the biggest weakness I see them having if not! Sure there are other weaknesses but if they cant control themselves they'll be easy prey for any other robot!

Deep six went out doing what it loved, destroying the battlebox floor. It was not accepted back due to this, which is understandable. It apparently dented the floor in its fight against ribbot that they where not able to fix it for the rest of the session.

lol wait a second here! Tombstone rek's face of the arena a lot now. So does huge. And D6 is the one to be yeeted out? what the actual fuck.
Ok so how come Tombstone is still competing? That teams bot has fucked up just about all parts of the arena, and gets automatically invited back.
@@gorkskoal9315 this is true, however tombstones damage was not as frequent due to its weapon usually being parallel and less likely to fit the floor. Deep six hit the floor in a pretty damaging way almost every match. Now, this usually won't be that big of a deal, cuts and gashes in AR500 could be filled in and fixed relatively easily. But deep six was so powerful it straight up bent the floor when it fought ribbot. This damage was way harder and expensive to fix. I loved deep six and I am very sad to see it now come back. But I do understand the reasoning

I immediately see a problem with Double Tap : It's weapon is so high that it'll spin right over several, if not most, of his opponents without a whisper of a chance of landing a blow. Just hope that it can get tilted.

Double Tap's weapon does indeed tilt; she can sweep the floor if she needs to. Did quite well, especially for a 1st year team. ;)
#1 for me is hands down emulsifier! Being a Norwalk veteran I’ve gotten to see this bot 1st hand at both Norwalks it won this year and last year,it really is an amazing bot and you best believe scaled up to a HW,it’s gonna kick some major ass,it’s even scarier and more epic up close! This is gonna be the best season ever I reckon,really the most stacked field I’ve seen
I’m excited for Horizon. Mainly because that setup is so unique.
The newcomer I'm excited to see the most this season is easily Ominous. Like Monsoon or DeathRoll, I've been waiting to see this cool design to compete in BattleBots since 2020!😎 Plus, we need more Dutch representation. I miss Petunia!😔 Shout out to RIPperoni though. While I am hesitant on the bot since it's basically a somewhat nerfed Uppercut and its got the Dragon Slayer counter disc as its main weapon, I f###### LOVE the pizza theme with the team and this bot!😍 Can't wait for these two to fight!😁

Doom reminds me of Ragnarok: meaning its hammer mechanism is totally exposed at the top of the wedge and will basically feed the opponent right into it. A horizontal spinner will take it out with one hit.
What would happen If Doom faces Tombstone?

Ripperoni was the surprise of the year, and I think the off-sized wheels somehow add stability, because it doesn't throw itself around the way many similarly-designed bots are prone to. Hydra points the way forward in keeping flippers relevant and dangerous, with its unlimited number of full-strength flips. Dragon King is just one more ineffective sawbot; they can't hold the blade in one place for long enough to do any real damage. Shreddit Bro has come along well; they're looking better in every fight. Horizon turned out too underpowered to be effective. I'm glad not to see any flamethrowers in the mix; they're just showy, because the loose flame streams need forever to transfer enough heat to do any real damage. Even if they could support a flame equivalent to an oxyacetylene cutting torch, they would still need extended conflict with one exact spot on the opponent to start melting things.
I can confirm one thing about RIPperoni, and you are 100% correct. No matter what happens it will be entertaining, I promise you that.

Horizon looks like a carnival ride.
This new robots roster looks amazing, they look incredible, there powerful and there might do a great season.
A few things i might fear happend to some of the robot can be:
- If dragon king face an horizontal it might do the thing that happend with Orby;
-Ripperroni somehow die after an huge hit;
-Horizon Desing looks good but idk about the self right, the bettle can do but idk if it can work in heavyweight scale;
- and a few spinners stop working after an hit.
Other then that, those new robots look solid and intresting, de hope to see them doing well

Waiting for Depth Charge clones (Double large undercutter saws)
Haha, unfortunately Deep Six by Dustin (creator of Depth Charge) caused a rule change, reducing the weight limit of spinners from 100 pounds to 80 pounds, so a robot like Depth Charge would likely at best only manage two 40 pound spinners if they were to go down that route.
Saying that, if Triton (from Bradley of the same team) were to become a walker with its 80 pound horizontal bar it could be the most dangerous and powerful horizontal spinner since Tombstone! That theoretically would be the closest to Depth Charge in terms of power for the heavyweights imo :)
Triton reminds me alot of arena cleaner and tombstone. Two really solid robots

We all saw just how good Glitch was last season, and no word of a lie, I think Ominous has the potential to be even better. It was meant to compete in 2020, so the idea has been in the oven longer (so to speak), but also it looks like it can glide around easier without getting stuck on the Battlebox a lot of the time.
Still, we'll wait and see how it fares.
Glitch sucks. It's such a trash can. Great design. But its constantly stuck on the floor. It's fights are so boring.

Pretty funny watching this in hindsight, ripperoni has been totally dominant this season.
Haha yeah! I had a feeling it'd be entertaining one way or another and tbh each of its fights win or lose have been great fun :D
I see a major weak spot in ripperoni, everything critical component is on one side. A good driver could kill it with a hit on the right. Shredit bro is pieltentially deviating but those are solid wheels the could shatter or get cut in half. To me those are the ones that could lose out.
Winners could be horizon and triton. Horizon is it can remain under driver control may have a few weak spots but with that wingspan and devastating end spinners if you try to get close you will get sent across the box.
Triton has the disting double stack wheels that means it's invertible without losing or changing steering style. That spinner can slice robots in half we saw the damage that deep six did to the battle box and itself. Triton is built similarly. I think of all the bits here either shredit bro or triton would be the champion. Barring any malfunction and operator error
Best show on TV…End Game Hydra and Riptide are so fun to watch…hopefully Biteforce comes back for season 9.
Honestly a track system with wheels underneath may not be a terrible idea. Much likw a christy suspension almost.

I want the arena to be more active than the last minute. Less multi bot teams with wedge bots.
I have recently gotten hooked onto Battlebots (was a big time Robot Wars fan as a kid back when)
I will say this however, I feel very few teams consider worst-case scenario or backup plans for their bots when it comes to weapon design, often with their attack strategy being focused purely on perfect scenarios for said weapons working.
A lot of over-engineering that comes with susceptibility to failure. It has been proven that kinetic energy spinners (Tombstone, Minotaur) are outright some of the most effective weapons and they are also among the most simple.
Not once have I seen a Sawblade be of any use at all, these are designed for Tools to be cutting stationary objects and something that thin getting a tiny knock will absolutely be destroyed and useless.
Also a severe lack of understanding of what a stress-point is for some of these weapons.
Yet to see a Kinetic Spinner; Horizontal or Vertical, that utilises a Waved 33 degree curved point (think a Scythe with a broad top edge, like Razer from back when) this would absolutely carve right through everything it hits.
In retrospect, Sawblaze dominated the entire group of Bots, even crushed Minotaur in a fantastic battle. Daniel Frajas acted like a sore loser but straightened up to (unhappily) congratulate the winner.

12:00 double tap looks like it took some ques from Helli-Copper _the_ infamous bot to be DQ'd from back in the day.
and their it is. yeeeah Helli-Chopper tried the one hit extend-o-matic thing ...and then physics and sanity and just oh good god no came around. Better built! but that's a low bar. but uuh eeh. we'll see.
They have a video on here about it. It wasn't disqualified. It had a meltdown in the test box and they didn't have a back up.
@@badbirdkc Oh that's what happened? Because I keep reading after they emergency repaired it. After having to put on rags for some reason it wasn't allowed to fight.Insurance called it a liability nightmare incoming.

Emulsifier and Banshee are the only two that dont look gimmicky. All the rest honestly look like fodder.
Tell you one thing though is that huge better just pack their bags early because all of these new bots will rip that useless behemoth too shreds

No starchild, interesting. All of these newcomers have interesting unique designs that stand out, they're not just plain old verts with wedge. But whether they will work and put on a good show is another question, you always have to watch out for first-year gremlins. Out of all the newcomers, banshee is probably the one I'm looking forward to the most. With my special someone gone (maybe forever, sad), I need someone to fill in that hole. Orion would have been *THE* perfect bot to be the temporary replacement but unfortunately, for the 3rd straight season, he's still not coming. Upsetting how he was rejected yet you got some who I question got accepted *cough cough* overhaul *cough cough* but anyway, blip too is a very good candidate for that, but his lost to hydra left me a sour taste. I still like blip and is an incredible machine, but still. Lucky has been recently on the uphill, defeating good name bots, but I need to see more of him before making that decision. That switchback fight was horrible, but the P1 fight redeemed himself for me. While I do not think banshee would out perform blip or even lucky, I still have high hopes it can bring that magic back that my special someone once had.
Trition is probably a lot of people's pick simply because no tombstone this year. And everyone likes these insanely destructive beast, which triton looks like one
I'm psyched for Banshee simply because my fave Bot is SubZero and he won't be in this year. I love how similar the two look and tbh, I just needed another flipper to root for along with Blip. So basically, Blip is my returning flipper bias, and Banshee is my newcomer flipper bias.
Ripperoni is my #1 newcomer, though. I don't even care if they actually do good! I just wanna see PIZZA BOT!

It is a shame really about Doom, as I definitely would have like to have seen how this robot performed. Still I don't begrudge Battlebots for keeping things safe, thats what matters most :) Vlad and Biohazard imo are two classics I'd love to see come back some day! With the news of some classic robots being brought back for Battlebots Destruct-o-Thon (Diablo, Ginsu, Tazbot) it might be a good chance to see modern takes on those classic designs!

They did do a flip comparison when Hydra was new and both were pretty comparable in terms of strength! It could be Hydra has become even more powerful with time but Bronco is still an extremely powerful flipper nonetheless, even with two exceptional flippers currently in Battlebots! Tbh I just like having more flippers anyway XD
Hydra did actually dethrone Bronco when they had a match against each other.
I'm pretty sure Bronco basically retired after that.
I think Blip could actually overthrow Hydra, but that fight between them was definitely controlled primarily by Hydra. They were super aggressive so Blip didn't stand a chance. :/
True! I think when it came to that there was a lot more going on than just raw power though, Hydra matched Bronco in regards to flipping power at the time but also the overall design of Hydra was sleeker, lower to the ground and imo had better mobility! So not only did they have the power but were able to utilize it more efficiently!
It's definitely what makes Hydra the top flipper atm because it isn't just one of the most powerful flippers the sport has ever seen, but just a great robot in general which can be an incredibly difficult balancing act and a testament to Team Whyachi's building skills. :)
I don't understand. You build a bot within the rules. You dominate, so they ban you the following season. Tritons wind up speed is incredible. I wonder who would win between Triton and Deep 6.
They probably have to adapt the rules for safety or other purposes
I see a problem with Dragon King. I'm not sure what it is but designers seem obsessed with having track units that can pivot, it creates such a massive weak point. One of the pictures you show for it show it clearly missing its left track unit. I understand that tracks massively increase the weight of the drive train etc so I accept that concessions need to be made but tracks work best when they are structurally incorporated into thr design
Exactly this. Because of that wrong design they are losing balance and point of weight, flipping all the time and unable to use the saws

Actually my take of RIPperoni either being a car crash (Gruff) or tearing an opponent in half (every other fight) and being entertaining either way I'd say was pretty spot on 💜

In my opinion Tombstone is really a 1 trick pony. If it hits you and you fall apart and it doesn't fall apart he wins. I think the game has changed a bit and Tombstone isn't as successful as it once was this is proven by its record in the last about 3 years. Tombstone strategy is simple spin up drive into other bots get knocked around battle box from recoil hope something doesn't break. Which is cool but these days I feel teams are ready for that. He needs to change formula a little bit.

Spinners are fcking boring... i like sawblades, hydraulics and flames.
Battlebots is boring and predictable with all the modifications made between matches. The robots are completely different in each match. Modular vertical spinners are all that's viable nowadays.
