I seriously want Battlebots to make a videogame for the current Gen. It would be really cool to play with these bots and build your own too to battle with.
Probably one of tombstones biggest flaws is not being able to handle the impacts from its own weapon on enemy bots with enough armour or strength in general to keep taking the hits. Always smokes the weak bots but these longer fights seem to put the tombstone over tombstone!
I saw in an interview, Ray's whole philosophy is to put as much weight and speed into the weapon as possible to create as much kinetic energy as possible. He is uncompromising in trying to achieve maximum kinetic energy even to the detriment of the other components.
@@averagegatsby In other words, he's trying to build a glass cannon - all offense, no defense. Seems like these days most better bots can take a hit decently well, so you really need some balance.
@@bumpster1969 It was by far the most powerful in seasons 1-3, but robots have caught up now. He's at about as powerful as he can legally make it nowadays. Luckily, he has made major upgrades to the durability and reliability of the robot for the version that competed at ReMars and will be at World Championship 8.
Tombstone has to improve its durability. It was fine in seasons past but in s6 it really lost its durability. Hopefully in s8 that will be fixed. But skorpios definitely won this one.
Tombstone really is its own worst enemy it seems. Not to discount Skorpios, but a lot of what happened seemed to just be Tombstone shaking itself apart from impacts. The tire itself was fine, it was the motor & its housing that gave out.

Under the newer rules, TS could continue to crab walk. It's won via crab walking in other venues. But I do applaud Skorpios for surviving those massive hits.
Ray need to find a way, to put strong armor around his wheels, but stay within the weight limit. If a bot can take a hit from tombstone & still battle, that's a good & strong robot.
Looking at what happened, it seems like the issue was less Tombstome's tires and more the motor & housing. The tire itself looked to be in decent shape, the motor just gave out and then got ripped out.
Tombstone is good at driving.. they can point the blade at their opponents.. and can knock anyone out.. but the wheels are so easy to take out if you can take take couple hits
That fight went on like twice as long as it needed to. Tombstones wheel was done long before it fell off. Skorpios just really wanted to keep hitting. Not really the best strategy. It always amazes me how surprised ray looks when he loses. the last minute and a half of that battle tombstone didn't have drive on one side.
Hitting after you've already won is what Ray always does. He just wears that creepy grin and unnecessarily shreds the other bot. I love seeing him lose
He’s actually a very nice guy in real life, they just asked him to play the “villain” role since Tombstone at the time was considered a ruthless and killing machine.
I've noticed his attitude or persona or whatever does seem to bother a lot of people. It's never bothered me. Like him asking his victim if they want another hit. On a way that's an asshat move but in a different way it's actually respectful. The amount of money poured into these things. Some drivers/builders will want to escape with as little damage as possible to rebuild, others are there for the show just like the audience. He just always seems surprised to be counted out. Like after a minute and a half of crab walking (which is considered immobile) he looks confused on why he got counted out.

It looked like Tombstone knocked its own wheels off from the recoil of its own weapon. It spun it around so hard that the wheel snapped of when it hit the other bot.
He actually is a good sport and a good guy and when Tombstone usually loses he’s fine with it look at S6 and how much Tombstone struggled but he still smiled in those fights. Why he’s pissed here is because I think there was some miscommunication with the count out and how early it occurred but he was not mad at the Skorpios team. Plus his smugness was his “villain” persona in earlier seasons.
I love Tombstone but the sheer energy of the blade which is 80 of the total 250 lbs is sometimes a huge problem for those guys. I'm sure they'll get it dialed in though.
the count out was not legit. he was pinned and skorpios had to back away in order for a count out to begin... tombstone would have lost either way but i feel it was bad ref call.
I haven’t watched Battle Bots in a dam while but TS is still running around but I haven’t heard of Bronco,Complete Control,Beta,Witch Doctor or Bite Force in a while where they went?

Look i know he is limited on weight shave alitte off the weapon for alittle more grip into more drive train i tell you tombstone would be even more deadly . Big deal, they beat a flimsy lawnmower that lives in fear of a 45 degree angle and lost to Captain Shrederator, a bot even worse that Skorpios. It had one good year (2016) and yet people still treat it like it's some type of benchmark.

No rule, it's just not practical for Tombstone. It costs weight and isn't necessarily better than having them exposed. Ask Bronco how that went in their Tombstone fight.

And maybe it's just my bias but tombstone is an apex predator in this game and for him to be counted out because he lost his wheel and still have had full durability of his weapon is a shame but kudos the Skorpios for his w but that should have went to the cards
I can see both sides of them calling him out, it's always so grey the point they can hit saying if it's controllable or not. Like minotaur, tombstone can do that momentum swing to get it maneuvered. Once you shove it in a corner it really gets dicey. But that fight never looked to slow down enough to be convincingly out. Now we could have creative editing going on
Still doesn’t make sense to me how it’s in anyway fair to count someone out while they’re pinned. If they wanted to count tombstone out they had an entire minute to do so before skorpios pinned him to the wall. Not to mention that skorpios was immobile afterwards versus tombstone still being capable of controllably move. The rules on this show are so bafflingly inconsistent and down right terrible in many aspects, even in the newest season. Not to mention they clear bias they have for certain bots.
I mean it backed off of the pin around countdown 8 or so, that's controlled movement. It stayed nearby because it didn't want to give Tombstone the space to spin up the weapon and yeet itself off the walls for one last hit against Skorpios. The successful strategy against Tombstone is to eat a big hit while you're still in good enough shape to do it to force the weapon to slow, then stay close enough that it can't get up to full speed again before contacting you. Sitting there to box Ray in was just an extension of that.
pure luck on the side of Scorpios....they were lucky enough to stand up to the complete beating they took and Tombstone unfortunately just couldn't hold together. Tombstone knocked himself out, that's all lol

Not necessarily. What caused the wheels to come off was Skorpios being hit into them. Even if there was armor on them they still would have gotten bent and become unable to move.
He’s actually a nice guy when not in the arena, he was asked by the show in earlier seasons to play the “villain” and act like a heel because Tombstone is a ruthless monster of destruction. He was frustrated here only because of the early count out confusion. Nothing towards Skorpios.
This was absolute BS. Tombstone clearly moving, even though he had one wheel gone, he was still able to move, ever so slightly, and yes it was semi controlled. They should have let them fight it out.

The robot just needs more weight. When it hits someone heavier it obviously gets thrown away and becomes it's own enemy.

He's only lost a wheel a total of three times (don't know what happened in the most recent RE: Mars), but it is becoming undeniably common.
He needs to copy copperhead’s gigantic wheel.
It's a compromise...the current tires give good control but more durable will likely reduce grip/control.

I think it was good driving that won this for Scorpios. They never let Tombstone's weapon hit Scorpios on the side, it always hit the front armor.

Unfortunately under Battlebots standards crab walking is not considered transitional movement which is why the ref counted him out

Bot must have ‘controlled translational movement’, So if they end up just pivoting around one wheel they get counted out.

Still doesn’t make sense to me how it’s in anyway fair to count someone out while they’re pinned. If they wanted to count tombstone out they had an entire minute to do so before skorpios pinned him to the wall. Not to mention that skorpios was immobile afterwards versus tombstone still being capable of controllably move.
The rules on this show are so bafflingly inconsistent and down right terrible in many aspects, even in the newest season. Not to mention they clear bias they have for certain bots.
Did Scorpios prove it could still move when the Tombstone countdown began? Looked like it was immobile too.
I mean it backed off of the pin around countdown 8 or so, that's controlled movement. It stayed nearby because it didn't want to give Tombstone the space to spin up the weapon and yeet itself off the walls for one last hit against Skorpios.
The successful strategy against Tombstone is to eat a big hit while you're still in good enough shape to do it to force the weapon to slow, then stay close enough that it can't get up to full speed again before contacting you. Sitting there to box Ray in was just an extension of that.
Why was tombstone counted out it was clearly still moving not to mention scorpios got Super lucky
Its about controlled movement. It only has one wheel, it cant drive anywhere but in circles.
pure luck on the side of Scorpios....they were lucky enough to stand up to the complete beating they took and Tombstone unfortunately just couldn't hold together.

Not necessarily. What caused the wheels to come off was Skorpios being hit into them. Even if there was armor on them they still would have gotten bent and become unable to move.
The driver for tombstone comes off as such an arrogant prick. Seeing him lose is medicine to my soul.
He’s actually a nice guy when not in the arena, he was asked by the show in earlier seasons to play the “villain” and act like a heel because Tombstone is a ruthless monster of destruction.
He was frustrated here only because of the early count out confusion. Nothing towards Skorpios.
I think Tombstone is losing his touch
This was absolute BS. Tombstone clearly moving, even though he had one wheel gone, he was still able to move, ever so slightly, and yes it was semi controlled. They should have let them fight it out.
