    Both of my vehicles are more than twice as old as I am. They're typically not as reliable, but you can actually work on them yourself, which is a huge advantage to me. And there's nothing like driving an old car, you get that real mechanical connection. Btw, I'm 17 with a 1980 300d benz and a 1970 GMC k15 that I'm restoring.

      Is it a '64?

    • @Lugo_Media
      @Lugo_Media 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      not sure, i don't really know about classics

    • @90sgarage29
      @90sgarage29 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      That beetle that drove by is a 66', you can tell by the turn signals...since it has the same headlights and taillights as the 66' and below beetles. The 64' is considered the best year by many VW enthusiasts. The only reason a 67' is a good year, is because it was a one year car, the only year they had that style, so the rarity makes it good, besides that it's nothing special. That may just be my opinion since I own a 64', but I'd rather have a link pin VW over ball joint any day.

    • @90sgarage29
      @90sgarage29 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Juice Box God I said the 64' is considered best by many enthusiasts, not by everyone. Also, it only costs a few bucks to convert a 6v Beetle to 12v... I've done it many times. Don't say I don't know what I'm talking about, you thought the beetle in the video was a 68+...it's definitely not.
      I guess it's to each their own though, different people prefer different years of the beetle. Like me, I'd rather have the small window of the 64' than the later models. I also prefer link pin over ball joint, but that's just what I like.

    • @90sgarage29
      @90sgarage29 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not trying to start shit... since us VW people are usually pretty friendly. I too love the 67', but I'd rather have an older year.

    I love vag and I think the reason for that is in the UK vag cars are easy to modify and there cheap my first car is a mk2f polo and the vag scene is a really friendly scene.
    the reason you don't really scrap in them Is the way vw designed the floor pan

    The reason for the clock is that when it comes to old cars basically EVERYTHING was an option and beleive it or not a tachometer was a "luxury" back in the day and some people felt they could live without next time ur at a car show look at the older dashes and sometimes you'll even see what is supposed to be a gauge but has a factory block off plate on it

    not a fan of bagged look. Only things I would of done if the car was mine is the restoration, lowered ( not to the floor just a height good to get over speed humps/ bad potholes), and widen the wheel to fill the body more but that my opinion. Still a cool car.

    • @TheLp640fan
      @TheLp640fan 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Miguel Hernandez you cant widen the wheels if your going lower, the fender will rub. This has a Narrow beam so it doesnt rub but it gives in that sunk in look

    • @That_NJ_guy
      @That_NJ_guy 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jason Guarino I wouldn't have lowered it crazy so the wheel should fit. And widen it to fit the car better not super close to the fender, I still want turning room.

    You should ask the owner the permission to race it with Do It With Dan's old Harley :

    Double on the "having a slow car..." statement. A lot of people get obsessed over hp, drag times, etc...that, just cruising, gets overlooked. LOL I think the slow cars get the most attention anyway, EVERYONE can see you as you drive by! (for those people thinking: "oh he must have a slow car") yes, yes I do.

    The Karmann Ghia has an older brother it's design test the Cadillac Series 62 Coupe coachwork by Ghia possibly 2 or 3 were only built. IMHO one of the most beautiful Mechanical ArtWork every made. I feel the Karmann Ghia is its more simplified sleeker sibbling. Imaginary world I would love both just to stare at it.

    only in America does the car ride that high. do Americans think European cars ride high and look like shit or what. the higher ride night is due to American "safety regulations"

    This is what i class as a fun car. Wasn't over the top expensive, not fast, doesn't handle or break. But it make's up for in character and makes you smile, plus little old carby motor's sound awesome. That is what make's automotive fun.

    The owner basically fixed everything. Puts car on bags, they leak. Owner likes the way it looks.... Can't afford to restore it! Come on Dude, it's a cool car for sure. I love it, but that thing is a Deathtrap. Thankfully a deathtrap that will leave you stranded more often than not, ergo saving your life!

    LOL at the clock. Even MK1 VW's had clocks in the spot you would expect a tachometer. Most cars during the era that was a luxury and only available in top trim models.

    One of my college Profs has a clean green Karmann Ghia. Some knuckleheads rent Lambos, Maseratis , and Ferraris but I walked around the Volkswagen more.

    In my opinion, one of the most gorgeous cars of the era. I'd love one of these with a 911 turbo powering it. Or maybe a W8, sticking to VW.
