Thank you so much for this video. My skin does not like hyaluronic acid or niacinamide and since they are in everything, it has one thinking that there is something wrong with their skin rather than realizing even the most hyped ingredients aren't for everyone. Thanks again! 🥰❤️🌹
Thanks for this Kelly! I agree with you on HA, I find most dedicated HA serums are sticky and just sit on top of the skin. With one exception - Torriden Dive In - which i purchased mostly for its panthenol content. And you’re right, HA is much better when mixed with other humectants. This serum is the only HA serum that isn’t sticky and thick and that penetrates well. It helps my dehydrated oily skin!
I’m super excited to try the ordinary copper peptide one percent! I decided to order that yesterday when the sale started for November because I’ve been loving the peach and Lily ones so much. Thank you for easing my fears as far as Copper peptides being fragile. I think I’ll stick to a Monday, Wednesday Friday for the Copper peptides and then Tuesday Thursday for my retinal. Saturday Sunday can be my acids and other masks days. I’ve got to do something like that though because I keep forgetting what I used the night before and I’m sure I’m not using things evenly. 😅😂
I get my copper peptides from DRMTLGY's The Needleless Serum. I didn't know how good it was until I ran out of it after using for more than a year. I purchased The Ordinary's Copper buffet because it was cheaper but went back to the needleless serum after 6 weeks. I absolutely love the product but hate the price!
Wait, snail mucin has copper peptides in it? So the Cosrx all-in-one snail cream inherently has copper peptides in it! I looooooove that stuff! I feel like it helps my skin a lot!
Thank you for the wonderful information, Kelly! Seems like copper peptides are all the buzz right now… do you mind sharing your opinion on encapsulated copper peptides? I have my eye on Naturium’s new encapsulated copper peptides formula. I’m also super curious about Peach and Lily’s serum! Thank you! 😊
Lovely content, well researched and delivered. Lots to consider. Would you add tranexamic acid to overhyped? Please keep doing these videos, I appreciate your honesty and consistency. Your voice also soothes something inside of me. You have a nurturing presence on the screen. Sending love❤❤❤
Ah, the good old hype of ingredients.😅I had a similar experience with hyaluronic acid, to the point where I try to avoid having it in multiple products in my routine and the only one I ever really liked and that I still love is the gold version of Hada Labo. Peptides on my in between days - after starting back into a decent tret routine slowly - are a recent focus for me. The Mary & May 6 peptide complex serum seems to be very similar to the Peach & Lily serum minus the very impressive amount of plant extracts. Have you looked and this one or maybe tried this already? I'm wondering if it is comparable, but can't say much yet since I have yet to start using mine. Love this video, great thematic continuation of your chat with Alli from Stratia about peptides! 🧡
This is the study: Disease Management and Clinical Outcomes 1(4):136-141 · July 1998, Effects of topical creams containing vitamin C, a copper-binding peptide cream and melatonin compared with tretinoin on the ultrastructure of normal skin - A pilot clinical, histologic, and ultrastructural study
Copper peptides can be healing for broken skin (think wounds, popped pimples, ulcers) and can assist with healthy scar formation but I don't think it has a direct impact on skin barrier health. The holy grail ingredients for barrier strength are ceramides, cholesterol and fatty acids. th-cam.com/video/F3jNx1D6aas/w-d-xo.html
Great for nails and hair, I know some who say it's amazing for joint health! As far as collagen powder for skin and anti-aging, I've not seen any results with them, I was trialing some this summer and didn't get anything but stronger nails and hair (which isn't bad)!
Hi Kelly. We are the same age. When did you start your skincare journey? I just started last spring. I'm learning a lot from you. Thanks for making these videos. They have helped me a lot.
Thank you so much, I'm really happy you're enjoying my content! I started with basic skincare when I was a young teen, but didn't get seriously into skincare until my early 20s. I've been sharing my skincare journey here on TH-cam for close to 6 years!
Hi kelly do you think we can can still get same results of copper peptides when we layer them with retinoids many now a days are saying you can layer them but somE are saying they didn't saw full results like that ❤
You can layer them I don't think it's an issue although some say it can irritate your skin. I never experienced that with retinoids and copper peptides (but I did with copper peptide and vitamin c).
hey kelly! what's your opinion and how's your experience with products with multiple weights or types of hyaluronic acid, like the isntree watery sun gel sunscreen?
They're fine, I like that sunscreen and the toner from the line but those products use more complex formulas with other humectants to achieve the hydration.
Hi kelly i discovered ur channel accidentally and from that day i regularly see ur videos. Ur accent is fabulous and comprehensive. Ur follwers should be in millions. ❤❤❤❤ Bundles of love from Pakistan
I’m surprised you’re not over 100,000! I watch a skinfluencer channel that had similar numbers of followers as you and his just skyrocketed! I bet yours does too. You have top notch content!
Heyyy Kelly i rly love ur videos. I would rly love if u would answer on my question and that is IS IT OKAY FOR A 16 YO TO USE VITAMIN C SERUM WITH AND TO BE PRECISE VITAMIN C SERUM WITH 3.5% VITAMIN C, SALICYLIC ACID AND NIACINAMIDE . Right now im just focused on fading my dark spots from pimples and evening out my skin tone. I just wanted ur opinion on this cause i appreciate it. I have oily sensitive skin btw
I would be using L ascorbic at 10 to 15 percent. Also add in Dermalures pigment inhibitor or find a tranaxmanic acid, kojic acid , alpha arbutin Many idie companies have a discoloration serum. Maeloves is good too
How long does a bottle of Niod have before it expires? I know The Ordinary Copper Peptides has like 6 months… but the NIOD is 50% right now and I heard that has never happened… but I have an almost new bottle of Ordinary 😅 and I don’t want to buy NIOD if it has a short expiration date
@@eheheh3263 if u don't open it u have awhile , I would say if u open it probably 6 months or so they also have the 15ml bottles if u just want to try one for a month or so for 31$ the 15 ml bottles are 62$ I got 2 15 ml bottles and a 30 ml and then realized I could have saved 16$ if I just order the 30 ml sizes instead of the 2 15 ml , they are charging u more cause u can open one use it then the other one so it stays fresher for longer . My ordinary CP serum I bought last year durning the sale and opened in January is still good I just picked it back up to finish it and it was still same as when I opened it . Took me that long because I didn't like it but I was like I need to use it up before it expires and not waste money and now it has definitely grown on me.
@@KellyDriscoll Yes I'm so excited about it , it's definitely a surprise. I got a few CP serums and the SMD mist. I still have unopened survival 0 and the Mod serum. I was thinking about the Frac eye serum and that stuff u always talk about that exfoliates and brightens without chem exfoliants ( I forgot the name )
@eheheh3263 the six months would be from the date of opening the product, not manufacturing. Feel free to order now and store your bottle in a cool dark place until you're ready to open, once open that six month clock will start!
Do you think copper peptides at the end of an ingredient list (Benton Snail Bee High Content toner) actually help, or would I need a separate product for any results? {Bought the Benton, haven’t tried it yet.}
So those would be helping the overall formula and you might see some results especially when in combination with other ingredients that address your goals. If you want to focus specifically on copper peptides then something that focuses on copper peptide with a known % might be best.
I recently watched a video from "Aliceintherabbithole" about copper peptides. Ignoring her silly wig and faux rabbit ears the discussion on the lack of solid evidence on the efficacy of copper peptides when applied to human skin is spot on. Testing has been done on animal skin and in dishes in a lab for the most part. One study had only 10 participants using copper peptides and the methods of reporting results were questionable. This has also been the conclusion of most reliable sources I have found so I am very surprised over your faith in copper peptides.
I speak on what I have experience with and I've seen really good results using copper peptides in the formulas I mentioned. Everyone's skin is different but CP does have a good track record and is well studied, it's technically only half proven on collagen stimulation but it definitely has shown results in studies and has many other benefits.
I didn't have time to watch all of it so gonna re-watch it today but I did read a comment that really got me thinking. The lady went into detail how peptides aren't stable, they degrade within hours. I'm starting to think peptides are nothing but hyped up bs lol Maybe their good for hydrating your skin but anti aging/wrinkles not so much.
More and more videos are coming out from dermatologist advising not to use hyaluronic acid because it trains your skin not to maintain its own natural hydration. But ever since it's become the IT ingredient, manufacturers are putting it in everything and it's really hard to get away from it.
Can you add Vitamic C to the list of overhyped ingredients?? I’ve spent so many years, hundreds of dollars trying to find a vitamin C serum I could tolerate at Sephora and Ulta, only to get into K-Beauty and find a gajjillion other lovely antioxidants that work 100 times better 😭😭

Hyaluronic acid is not a magnet, it doesn't "pull" anything, only binds to water molecules when in direct contact.
I started using my Niod Copper peptide again. It always makes me laugh, because I smell pennies as I fall asleep...
The metallic smell is something to get used to for sure!
I was wondering in the study you quoted how did they determine any increased collagen production? Thanks!
They took skin biopsies. The creams were applied to the thighs!
