Kbeauty is miles ahead of western beauty!

It depends. For treatment like retinol, retinal products, Vit C, I think Western products are ahead of K beauty. But for calming skin, gentle products, K beauty is better.

@@blee8607 They're starting to have a few great retinal products now. I'm using beauty of joseon retinal cream and it is better than some of the other western retinol/retinal products. It's great for sensitive skin. Retinoid products usually make my skin feel like it's burning in my eye area but this doesn't. It's also cheaper than a lot of western retinal products.
I think Scinic also has a 0.5% retinal product with cica (it's not an eye cream though). I'm going to try it out in my next k beauty run to see if the cica combo helps reduce irritation and see if I can use it in my eye area. I know medik8 has some award winning eye and general retinal line of products but it's so damn expensive at over $100, so I'd be happy if Scinic products work for me.
I think K Beauty is definitely falling behind when it comes to antioxidant serums. That's why I'll continue to use western products like paula's choice antioxidant serum.

Favourite ingredients in K-beauty definitely are root extracts like Coptis Japonica and Licorice + fermented ingredients like Kombucha, Green Tea and Black Tea! 💖🍵
(Sidenote: iUnik has been the only brand whose propolis products don't break me out, I've tried Skinfood's essence and BOJ serum and I got inflamed pimples both times. So glad I tried iUnik to know that I can still use propolis, it only depends...)

I used to have an entire routine of k-beauty products only and my skin never looked better. Then I started using "western favorite" ingredients like Vitamin C, Retinol and Peptides serums because I had this fear of missing out and a lot of western influencers describe these ingredients as must haves if you wish to combat signs of aging. Since I switched to western products my skin became red, I am often breaking out and irritation occurs occasionally even when I am using low % Vit C and gentle retinal serum. I find myself stuck between my love for K-beauty and the fear of missing out if I am not using the potent ingredients like Vit C. 😔😭

Fomo can be intense but it often means we are ignoring our own skin needs and knowledge. I used to follow a lot of fomo too and ended up with a confused routine with products I didn't love. Now I ignore the fomo or dig deeper into WHY I feel the fomo in the first place. That helps me stay on track for my skin and needs. Also reminding myself I have only one face and plenty of time to try all the things down the road! ☺️

Oh, I forgot. Also wanted to let you know k beauty products like propolis have strong antioxidants. I think propolis is supposed to have astaxanthin which is the most powerful antioxidant we know of (like 100s of times stronger than vitamin c). I don't know if any of the k-beauty products with propolis have high astaxanthin content and I don't know how effective astaxanthin is on skin vs vitamin C, but I'm just putting it out there if you can't handle vitamin C products on your skin.

I just tried the Im From Mugwort Essence sheet mask and was so disappointed. It stung my face and left me with tiny granules all over it. Like little grains of sand were in the serum? As I rubbed the serum in, they left little scratch marks all over my face and neck. I was do pumped to try it but now am skeptical of their products. I have loved using the Rice products in their line so not sure what happened with this product.
