Dude I’m so glad to see you back in the A7X catalog! Their song St. James is an upbeat beautiful tribute to the Rev. It was written a few years after his passing so they’d had some time to grieve, whereas Save Me is filled with the anger and confusion and sadness they felt immediately after his passing. I think you’d enjoy hearing that one, even if you do it on your own time. Great insight as always, man!
The best song for me by far, closely followed by "The stage" and "A little piece of heaven" "so much to see tonight so why`d you close your eyes, why can`t i shut mine" . My favorite lyric. I inturpret it as there are so much left for them to see and do, so why`d he have to close his eyes so early, and why can`t i just shut mine and be with him again Also "tonight, we all die young". I think of it as everyone died a little bit that day, a young version of them that they`ll never get back. They all lost a piece of themself, someone they used to be, and they`ll never be the same. Beautiful song, amazing lyrics and a really good tribute to The Rev with Mike Portnoy just going absolutely nuts on the drums. R.I.P to The Rev, he`ll live foREVer in our harts
Zack thank you for reacting to this request. Today marks the 14th anniversary of the Rev's passing and yes this was written for the Rev. Small piece of info: the Rev had a medical condition, an enlarged heart which would cause him pain frequently and it is said that the doctors had told him he would have trouble living past 30. So one can say he used that time the way he wanted making music, living the life and helping his friends achieve until he went out on his own terms. He died 28 years old, 3 days after he handed in his last song "Fiction" (originally named Death) which became the last track on the Nightmare album. They've kept his final vocals on that song. Needless to say that song is a real punch in the heart. "St. James" was also written for him and it's a lighter spin on the Rev's life and charisma. True legend. RIP Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan.
the rev died of a drug overdose, so its not completely innacurate that any previous condition he had, aided in his overdose. i know a man with an enlarged heart, and a hole right through. he is almost 40, and still kicking. i am not certain why i am thwarting your lie, since it serves the purpose of the truth and nothing else, but please stop stoking lies in the service of drug use. i can't say for certain that, it is your primary focus, but you are speaking outside of yourself, if you think the rev died from an enlarged heart. od. period. speak to that.
normalizing drug use, and using preexisting conditions to explain away the death of those using, is nothing less than telling everyone you know that using drugs, has no bearing on their health and future. you are complicit in the deaths of anyone who listens to your nonsense, who wouldn't have otherwise.
@@paulm8908 Wow that was rich. I advise you to open up a dictionary and learn about the differences between describing a situation, explaining it and justifying it. Let alone promoting it 🤦 Have a very good day sir.
I love you taste and knowelege in music and always enjoy your reacrtions and interpretations! I think you might like Chevelle with your ear in music. Thx
This album, along with Stone Sour's House of Gold and Bones, got me through my chemistry degree. Commuting to and from Sonoma State, I would rock out so hard to this. The relief and catharsis A7X delivers is real. Edit: What sets A7X, Corey Taylor, and Tool (likely many others) apart is that they believe that classical music belongs in metal. It certainly does.
Hey Zack I'm back here just to let you know that the band played this song live a few days ago and it's uploaded on YT in excellent quality if you wanted to enjoy the live version. It's awesome.
we're only here to die, is not a perception, that is a reality. m shadows, is asking god to save him in the interim of him living, as he is to die. all of the Manisha in between, is beautiful in a part, but a jest in another. m shadows might have found god, in between city of evil and nightmare, and now all of the songs you hear by a7x, are inspired, well sung, greatly ordered and onto something;.

one of my good friends back in the day, was the son of a jazz guitar player for steely dan. he remarked, after hearing a7x, that they are born from the greatest of musicianship, and of heavenly prose. every timing signature, vocal, drum accord and song that it results in, is beyond anything he ever imagined. god codified musical prose.
The REV was one of the Main Songwriter for them. Had an Enlarged Heart,Was told he wouldn’t live past 30…believe he was 28
He wasn't told he stated that he would live past 30 and that sadly turned out true
One of the greatest songs ever. Fight me.
every song is so good😸
no fight. my favorite album, and favorite song by a7x. next best is m.i.a. from city of evil. fight me!!! lol j/k
@@Eeilltz also true. so many good songs. so many hooks, so many well written protractions, delivery and vocals.

I really liked this reaction man, youre good at pausing at good times and staying on topic while appreciating the music.
RIP REV! Listen for his Vocals towards the end. He was working on this when he died. Along with Fiction!🙏🤟
