    Awesome build! Id like to eventually take my M30B32 in my early E24 in this direction. I love driving my car but 180hp doesnt quite cut it.

    Nice build! Still got it? I heard the stock block can handle up to 400 ft lbs of torque, with ARP headstuds. An can be pretty reliable running at 300-350whp for years. Thinking about building one for fun.

      I still have it. I actually drove it to work today and did a burnout on the way to work haha. It's been fine absolutely zero issues art 16 psi 350whp ish for 3 years. With a clean tune you will have no issues. I also have completely stock everything 30 year old head gasket and head bolts . No probs

    From were do you get the oil feed to the turbo ?

  • @rednecktech9485
    @rednecktech9485 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    S14sean: was switching from a distributorless system worth it? Do you see any difference in how the car runs out the tuneability? Are you just running wastegate pressure or are you controlling boost through the megasquirt? Clean build my man. I am working on tuning my e24 with an m30b34. I think I am going to do a MLS head gasket and APR studs. I have a rebuilt k27 turbo and 745i manifold. Getting all these parts can be a headache.

    • @rednecktech9485
      @rednecktech9485 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      ARP studs lol

    • @TurbineResearch
      @TurbineResearch  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jordan Ebner Thanks man. Yes it was totally worth it. The individual coil packs are very powerful compared to the original coil. It runs so much better on the LS coils and the most noticeable part is that it never misses or hesitates ever. It’s cheap too all the coils were like $40 in the junkyard. I was originally planning on using the stock distributor but I’m glad I went ls coils. Tuning is fine either route but you get more control of timing advance and doing stuff like launch control with individual coils. Now for the past few months I’m running 15psi (~350whp) and no problem on the stock 30 year old headgasket 🤞

    Hey there. I have an M30B35 e34 that I am building with basically the same ECU/ignition setup as you have. Could I pick your brain a little about how you enabled the 3rd igntion output in Tunerstudio after adding the resisor internally? THanks!

    • @TurbineResearch
      @TurbineResearch  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Enabling the 3ign is easy (once the modifications are done to the ECU) simply tell the megasquirt how many cylinders it has and it will automatically enable the output. The resistor is easy too just put a 10k 1/4watt resistor in-between the two wires from the stock vr sensor and it will get a clean signal.

    • @TurbineResearch

    Why did you go with MicroSquirt instead of something like MS2/MS3?

    • @TurbineResearch
      @TurbineResearch  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nils Asejevs microsquirt is a few hundred dollars less that the ms2 or ms3 box. Microsquirt is ms2 software but just has a few less features. It does the job but for less money essentially

    • @0809d5
      @0809d5 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TurbineResearch Ah, I see. I opted for the MS2 kit and assembled it myself. Mainly because I wasn't sure if MicroSquirt offered everything I wanted for my build.
      I assembled it in about a week, which includes reading through all of the documentation, soldering, etc. I think I did good, seeing as I haven't done anything like that ever before. Can runs better than ever. No turbo yet though.
      What did you do in regards the exhaust manifold? Did you weld it yourself? How much did it cost? This is my biggest obstacle at the moment, since I don't have my own welding equipment (yet).
      I have a E34 535i which I intend to turbo for some low PSI boost (7-10?), just so I don't have to put in an aftermarket head gasket and studs, since those are really expensive.
      Also, how much did your injectors cost?

    • @TurbineResearch
      @TurbineResearch  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nils Asejevs good work man! I made the exhaust manifold from 1.5inch schedule 40 steam pipe from an industrial plumbing supply and a vibrant mild steel t3 flange off amazon. It literally cost me $50. I bought a welder for this project and made my way through with some help from friends. I just used the stock manifolds flipped up and just welded to the stock flanges.
      Yeah I’m on stock everything running 15psi (~350whp) for months now with no problems. Like literally never taken the valve cover off the motor and it’s fine and really fun. If you just want to have fun for very little money it’s very doable with this setup.
      Injectors are Siemens deka 80lb injectors from efisource.com probably $43 each

    • @0809d5
      @0809d5 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TurbineResearch Noooo way. I was exactly thinking of just flipping the stock manifolds upside-down to avoid having to weld the whole 6 pipe flange. Thank a lot for the info! Hopefully I get my E34 boosted this summer. :)
