  • Dallas Green joins Indie88 host Lana Gay in studio to go track-by-track through his new record The Love Still Held Me Near. The album's release date is March 31, 2023, via Still Records, an imprint of Dine Alone Records. The Love Still Held Me Near marks Green's seventh album under the City and Colour moniker. The album was co-produced with longtime collaborator Matt Kelly, and chronicles an exceptionally difficult time in Green's life following the tragic death of his best friend and City and Colour producer Karl Bareham in 2019.

"The Love Still Held Me Near was born out of unimaginable loss and the subsequent journey through the grief and heartache that followed," Green said in a press release. "It's about digging deep down into yourself and attempting to unearth hope and light in the things that can comfort you through those times. For me that has always been writing and recording music, so that's exactly what I did."
Indie88 will be playing the new album in its entirety along with Lana's track-by-track interview with Dallas Green on Friday, March 31 at 8pm, and again on Sunday, April 2 at 6pm. Tune in at www.indie88.com, or on 88.1 FM in Toronto to listen.

Living in the UK I've never heard of Indie88. But this was a stunning interview and so beautifully filmed as well. The close ups on Dallas as hes pouring his heart out, holding back tears. The still intimate yet more open wide on the host, who, is asking some excellently crafted questions. Truly stunning. An excellent album and I feel so proud to have had Dallas in my ears since the beginning of his solo journey. Thank you dallas

He has such a insight and beautiful way of wording life, songs and how music can be. It is truly is beautiful and have been a fan ever since Alexisonfire was new and I was estatic when he had a mellower version of himself came about. That is absolute talent to be able to do both. AMAZING

Really deep and cool for Dallas to hand the artist the music to listen to and make the cover art.

Im so emotionally attached to this mans music as its helped me through hard times since i was 15 (24 now) and for some reason i cant even watch an interview with out wanting to cry. he just feels like such a safe space. i think it could be the fact that he is so vulnerable in his songs and he talks about things no one else really talks about or makes music about. im gonna be so torn when we lose this precious man.

Another insightful interview from Lana and Indie88. I was a little surprised to hear him say it is a joyful record because my first few listens left me feeling so sad, and it was palpable. That just tells me to look deeper I guess. But it is truly an emotional journey song to song.
Sadly the water is coming though. We are not ready for it.
