What do u prefer for your collection? Raw or graded cards?
I personally didn't care before and for certain cards still dont. Although the direction of the hobby may change that. I'm 39 and just getting back into the hobby this year. Alot different then it was in the 90s.

Great Kobe Collection, congrats! It's amazing how those topps took off. The E-X 2000 is my favorite base set of all time, unfortunately I don't have that beautiful Kobe. The Eddie Jones EX 2000 the actual first card I bought as a single card back in 98 :) Also, thanks for showing the back of the SPX 97; that great picture of Kobe and Eddie makes me want to find a copy for my PC! Also love the design of the E-Xciting.
I am lucky to have two high-end Kobes in my PC: Star Date 2000 and Slam Funk. Seems unbelievable that I got those for $10 and $20 about ten years ago! But my favorite Kobe card is still my pack-pulled Competitive Advantage :)
I'd love to see more top 10s of this kind. Just a suggestion, it would be cool if you could include the odds of the inserts in such videos as well!

Nice vid!! I started a side pc of Kobe little over a year now. He has some of the best action shots on his cards. I personally enjoy raw cards but like to get certain cards graded more for authenticity.

Nice collection. I got some true Kobe rookies from when I was a kid. Kobe was all I collected when I was 13....lost them all...2 months ago my parents found all my Kobe's in my book of all Kobe's. Couldn't believe it. I got alot of his rookies. Top end stuff, worth alot. Don't know if I wanna sell any of them or not....and I got alot of doubles and triples of his rookie cards. Can't believe they found them. But u have a nice collection too. He's the Goat!!! 🐐

Interesting stuff, a few Kobe cards I’ve never seen. I think that 96 Topps will get another bump next year when he goes to the hall. Pretty crazy how much it has gone up.
Thanks! It may. Typically Basketball HOF bump comes at or around the announcement that they will be enshrined. Time will tell however.
Cool stuff. Yeah Kobe stuff (along with everything else in the hobby) has gone crazy, but seems to be coming down a little. I did a video of my card collection in mid-June, and a ton of the prices I listed in the vid are already WAAAAY off compared to current day prices!
Yeah some things are starting to slow down a bit. August prices were wild!
Absolutely love this video! Definitely ungraded for my PC but certain cards I understand need to be slabbed just to preserve them... my kobe Chrome and EX and Flair rookies along with a few others are for this reason. I don’t care what number it’s graded (obviously I’d prefer higher but if there’s a 7 that passes the eye test I’ll snag one.)
Curious why the Kobe patch was in the HM, was it just because it was the siblings card? It’s a beauty and I know the value would have been near the top of the ten?

Glad I found your channel. I prefer graded cards because they feel more protected to me.
One thing - I actually prefer the 1996 Topps 50th Kobe RC with the Chrome border. The graded populations of PSA 8 and higher are in the hundreds compared to the 1000s of base Topps.

and as for the graded card discussion, i pulled the cards in my collection as a kid and im neither selling or trading so they're all raw (although i am sending some kobe rookies to psa), if i was to buy an expensive card then i would want it in a 9 slab, just to make sure its authentic and in decent nick.

Kobe bryant rookies have been rising since december. I predict by june 2021 you will see a big bump in his 1996 rookies. Imagine 20 years from now for people that hold on to them
They sure have been. Hard to know what the future will hold but these seem like a strong hold.
I'm excited to say I just bought that Skybox e-x2000 for $154 raw on Ebay. The card looks to be a 7/8 from the images, but I don't care that much, just happy to have it in my PC.

My mom just showed my a collection she took in at her antique shop. 30 plus koby Bryant rookie cards. The fleer, nba hoops, upper deck. A lot of different ones. I was like dang mom!!! I think u hit the lottery!!!

raw is my preference 100%. I like to keep my PC in folders, and if I was to get my collection graded it would cost $15K or more and then I don't know how I would store or display them all. In the past I have cracked PSA 10's out of cases so I could place the cards in my folders. I have some PSA cards coming in the mail this year and I may keep them in PSA cases for the time being, just in case I can buy them raw for cheaper and then sell the PSA slabbed cards.

That Kobe EX-2000 is sick it was way ahead of its time with the use of the Acetate, Die Cut, Green shimmer, Gold Foil. It’s more rare than the Topps Chrome. For investment this is the one you want 📈

I wonder how many sticker autos Panini are holding? I heard that they needed to negotiate a deal with his estate to continue to use his likeness. I assume that a deal will get done.

I recently picked up a UD3 Hardwood Prospects Rookie Kobe Card for $20, it seems to have always been encased a solid 9 or better! Should i get it graded?
YES. The UD3 is one of my faves! I LOVE that card. I had one as a kid but need to get one back in my collection
90% of my collection is raw. I would love to have most of them graded. but when I get any money I seem to spend my money on more cards. I think it could be smart though for the reason to have them authenticated because people keep getting better at counterfeiting. I bought a Shaq & Magic dual auto that I knew was counterfeit when I got it and it was pretty good even seen some graded so even the pros miss them sometimes. So even to just get a time stamp. With the prices cards are going for these days will only bring out more. But the wait I hear is pretty crazy right now.

His rookie Topps and Fleer Draft Redemption cards and the other stars are cards to have in Mint 9 and up.
Yeah those 2 draft redemptions are impressive in high grades
Topps Draft Redention and Fleer Lucky 13 draft redemption card were both mail aways and Kobe was "lucky" to make the Fleer cut. 😅
And I dread and fear raw cards in the mail unless cellophaned. Those mail aways are definitely hard to Gem or Mint.

I have some kobe Bryant cards Raw in my folder, that have never left their sleeves in 20 years. I imagine some of the cards might be saught after, but I only have 1 of the cards in this video.

I may of told you before but i pulled a kobe rookie finest refractor back in 96. Still have it but as im in Australia im not keen to post if off for grading. It near perfect centered which is rare for t h at set.

Do you much about 96 Fleer Ultra inserts ? - in regards to Rising Stars insert/ rookie year. I understand there is an error to this set in particular Kobe's card. Blank versions vs printed. For a high pull rate card only released in Hobby packs seems like this card gets overlooked is all
That’s a set I’d love to review. I just need to find packs at a reasonable price. But that’s a tall task
Fleer Ultra cards from that year were cool as ,lots of unique inserts and parallels, I've tried doing research myself but it's the odd stuff from Blowout Forums or ebay comments .

Correct. These prices are from ~5months ago when the video was recorded
E-X 2000 is still undervalued even after the recent spikes in price imo. It's his best looking RC. I mean Topps Chrome Raw is still like 4x to 5x the value of EX 2000, and paper Topps Rc is only slighlty cheaper than EX 2000 Rc which is insane imo.
Time will tell. It’s high than it’s ever been right now. We will see how high it can go
I don’t know about that. Both ex2000 and topps have gone up 100x in less than 10 years. It’s hard to tell.
I think his other rookie cards that have only 20x in the last 8-10 years is much safer long term.

I prefer raw, but certain ones get graded. I have been submitting more cards simply for protection and to know they are real.However, I grade all my tickets.

Yes they sure do! U can get them authenticated by PSA/DNA or BGS. I know some ppl that will take the video as authentication enough for them too!
