The 2002 World Series was a best-of-seven playoff series to determine Major League Baseball (MLB)'s champion for the 2002 season. It was the 98th series played between the American League (AL) and National League (NL) champions. The AL champion Anaheim Angels played the NL champion San Francisco Giants for the title. The series was played from October 19-27, 2002 at Pacific Bell Park (now AT&T Park) in San Francisco and Edison International Field of Anaheim (now Angel Stadium) in Anaheim. The Angels defeated the Giants four games to three to win their first World Series championship.
This was the first World Series since the 1995 inception of the wild card in Major League Baseball (and the last until 2014) in which both wild card teams would vie for the title. The Angels finished the regular season in second place in the American League West, four games behind the AL West champions Oakland Athletics. They defeated the four time defending A.L. champions New York Yankees three games to one in the best-of-five American League Division Series (ALDS), and in doing so won their first postseason series in franchise history. They then defeated the Minnesota Twins four games to one in the best-of-seven American League Championship Series (ALCS) to advance to the World Series, another first in franchise history.
The Giants, meanwhile, finished the regular season in second place in the National League West, 2 1⁄2 games behind the NL West champions (and defending World Series champions) Arizona Diamondbacks. They defeated the Atlanta Braves in the National League Division Series (NLDS) and the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Championship Series (NLCS) to advance to the World Series, giving the team their 20th NL pennant and 17th appearance in the Fall Classic but only their third since moving from New York to San Francisco in 1958. The series was the fourth World Series played between two teams from California, after 1974, 1988, and 1989. - กีฬา

I remember hearing the stadium noise all the way down in Fullerton. Yep it was that loud. Rightfully so. A total scrapheap of a team that got really scary after mowing the Yankees down in Round 1. I could watch this clip every day.
I've been a fan since 1973, when it was Ryan and Tanana, then no manana. We will always have 2002. I always smile when I watch this highlight.

As an Angels Fan this will always be The Happiest Day of My Life. It made me Proud to hear "Edison International Field of Anaheim ' ( as it was know then now Angels Stadium ) being so Loud with all of those Thunder Sticks. We finally Won a World Series and had the Respect of the Baseball world for a short time. Whenever I think of this team I remember Spiezio, Glaus, Erstad, Eckstein, K-Rod, Salmon, Anderson, Molina & Lackey. I hope I live to see them Win another World Series before I die...GO ANGELS !

20 years later I still tear up seeing this win! Watched this game with my father when I was 10 years old. It was a real life angels in the outfield moment for all of us 🥲 I will forever remember my angels this way

I remember hearing everyone in the streets yelling and cars passing by honking...fuckin awesome night that day haha I was 7 also
I was so happy to see them beat the Yankees in the first round. Then as I watched them I became a fan ( 2nd to the Braves ) and was very happy to see them win it all.
I dealt with 79 (Orioles), 82 (Brewers- lost after being up 2-0), and of course 86 (Red Sox- lost after being 1 strike away). This felt so good. I talked to Mike Witt a couple years ago and he was the pitcher in that last game in 86 (went 8.1 innings that game). Even he said 02 felt good. And yes I was at the parade.

@@miket492 agree and disagree.. We've wasted allot of amazing talent due to shitty pitching. But I do feel trout loves it here and he is in it for the long haul. I live in Anaheim. Great fan base and an amazing place to live (if you have money) I think the only way he leaves is if he demands a trade.

I was there, we sat in the lower level seats near Barry Bonds (left field), and my father, who normally was reserved each and every sports game we went to.was very vocal and heckled Barry Bonds non-stop the entire game.. and remember leaving the stadium after the ceremonies riding down Katella Ave towards the 55 and seeing the entire town celebrate in the street... no riots or looting... unlike what Lakers fans at the time were doing.
