Lots of talking there ! Took a small break from the typical hyperactive edit I usually give you to offer you a video before 2020. There's no simple black or white answer I think. But it's definitely a neverending debate. Happy to read your thoughts :)

You definitely deserve it!

Not that same comment again, please. Yes, he's wearing this same pattern for all his videos. On his website FAQ:
"On prosumer / professional cameras, you can activate an indicator that shows zebra stripes on the overexposed parts of the image. This is where the name and uniform both come from. Nothing to do with sailing although I hope making a sailing video !"

The camera fall at 7:30 was heartbreaking
don't remind me. I almost killed myself.
It happened to me,lens internal gears got screwed😩,but in time it fixed itself☺️
Yes :D
Maybe but that gear is strong enough to withstand a small fall, especially in soft sand.
At least it was only on sand

AI Camera smartphones, Artificial Intelligence in Camera of Smartphones because the lens and the sensor are stupid.
Companies and their Marketing people are stupid to think people are stupid.
Real Camera and Real Lens dont need an AI. AI is software and still cannot replace hardwares the real thing.
But of course even for best real camera and real lens from high level DSLR (Sony, Canon, Olympus, Nikon, Ricoh/Pentax, etc) to Medium Format (Sony, Hasselblad, Leica, Pentax, Mamiya, RED, etc) cost more than USD 10K for body only lens not included.

I began watching this video telling myself : "Oh yeah, let's see new Zebra Zone video !"
I ended up doing a self retrospective of my progression curve xD
This is actually a very good video. We have to show this to all the people who think it's not worth it to buy a camera, and that their phone can do the work
Non-pros would be better off buying lights to compensate for poor performance in underexposed situations. That would cover 80% of the 20%.
The best camera is the one that you have with you when you need it or want it and for most people, that's a smartphone.
agree....
20% failure rate is a pretty random number and I’d argue that an iPhone is likely more reliable than a lot of pro equipment out there.
@@sugnasugna I phone more reliable? It's more than picture, what about light levels, audio inputs, lens adaptations, various codecs. But this is well known by pro shooters who have to get it right the first and only time.
What a video ... The way you've treated your topic is unique as far a I can see. I hasn't seen anyone master the transition from a comparison to the skill/gear relation as you just did. Wow !
I love his pure thick French accent. It’s ASMR at its finest.
Well I can tell you that he has an over-average level accent compared to most French people :)

One of my clients is a close friend of mine and I couldn't make it to one of his shoots. So I rented one of my C100s out to him and gave him some tips on how to use it. He brought me back the footage for editing and the difference between what I shoot for him typically and what he shot became very apparent. His framing, exposure, white balance and focus were off on every shot. It's been a task for me to try to fix his footage in post to get some kind of usable images. If I ever felt like I needed some validation of my skills, that was it. I had been a little worried he'd shoot some great footage with my nice camera and realize he didn't need me, but it ended up being the opposite.
Tools are important but at the end, someones skill is what makes a final product great. If the skill is high enough, someone can make anything out of the worst equippment.
Weird flex but okay lol
Makes me wonder why people buy professional cameras just to "point and shoot"
@@ienfhwkdb I assume for exactly the reasond this video mentioned
loved your perspective on this subject.
"In 2019, everyone would be shooting on DVDs" xD
old days my sony DCR-DVD610 can directly record mini DVD . After finalization can play on DVD player.
Potential Client: "Whatever, I can still shoot that with an iPhone."
Potential Client after trying it himself (and losing money in doing so): "Could you please do it for me?"
The ones who need quality usually come back after their first failing attempt. But - and this is why the remarks in the video are not so much off-topic - 50% of their failing will be that they don't know how to make a good video, no matter which device they use. The other 50% are gear and how to use that gear.
@@c.augustin "Can you take my footage and somehow just make it better?"

1:58 Im actually loving u for this man:-)
Ur G.A.Y?
I think its important to watch this on a large screen, at least HD tv (if not-4k tv) to really appreciate the difference. Also the quality of the control and fluidity of camera movements, along with the precision of a big broadcast set up is way infront of anything else by a country mile for serious production work. Skilled camera operators also contribute to that all important difference.
Very thought-provoking. Things I'd never considered. Well presented too. Great work.
Thanks for your good spirited message!
It has been said before but I love the "non-consumerist" attitute.
It is so easy to look at other youtube film makers and get tempted by there subtle advertisement to buy this gadget or the other to "improve" your own videos. And now just before christmas it is even more tempting to go for a treat which in the end will not make your movies better.
It is the skillfull art of handling the camera, props, artists other coworkers and being able to tell the story which makes a movie great.
I would consider myself still a beginner and my god is it painful to climb up the learning curve...
Thanks a lot Zebra Zone!
Looking forward to more of your videos!
Have a good christmas and have a happy new year!

I recently discovered your channel. Kudos! Your iPhone vs pro camera video has saved me countless hours of explanation to the uninformed about why I have $750k worth of Ike Ikegami cameras and Fujinom lenses to do their corporate meetings. Nicely done, sir!
7:10 the things everyone really need. love your professionalism. thanks
1:44 LMFAOOOOOOOOOOO
TV cameras are so expensive because their lens is literally an all-in-one lens. Notice how it manages to create a strong bokeh on a long shot with maximum zoom.
Thank you for some clarity..
Yeah, it's like having a prime lens at every focal range.
and no refocusing, no change of brightness on video. tv lenses must be extremely expensive and durable, because they are very hard to design and manufacture
Yeah getting that much zoom range while keeping quality the whole way is quite incredible. I have an 18-105 lens on my DSLR and it's decent, but not professional decent. The focus does not quite stay the same as I zoom, the actual clarity is not 100%, you lose a lot of aperture as you zoom in, etc...
He actually did an entire video on why tv cameras are so expensive, it s awesome
like always ... AMAZING WORK!!!
Very nice insight and perspective for us un-ranked amateurs. Thank you.
Next video should be “my car vs my neighbors bike”

Hi there just randomly found your channel, i enjoyed very much every single minute of this video👍 thx very much man, cordialement de suisse
This is one of the best youtube videos I have seen. You brought up so many good points I lost count.
It’s an awesome video. Big glass and sensors for broadcasting are simply more sensitive and sharper than tiny glass and sensors and computational photography.
Dude, what are you even looking at in 3:54? That monitor must be running on faith and faith alone LOL
That RAM reference was good 👌🏼
It's always good to remember that spending a ton on gear won't make you a more skilled professional.
WOW, just discovered this and its mindblowing, thanks for everything you've said.
The Bang out of tea back.
Perfect.
Can you make other video like this ? It's soo interesting ! I think you can go deeper in details and a with longer video.
How does the broadcast camera behave in low light and bad weather conditions? What are the systems that make it never crash?
7:29 That really hurts!
Bro this is from heart , i came for comparison and but u cleared all my doubts, i will say i spent my 10minutes of this video proudly. .big heart

0:58 Wow! I couldn't even tell the difference.
I think they made a mistake there and simply put the same picture twice. 😉
Why
You can clearly see the difference.

best video
I am a simple man.
I see a Zebra Zone video I click 🙂
The look of different lenses, the skin tones in cine E lenses, the deep of field etc. A lot of things that you can't control with a simple phone. Low light conditions, the amount of dynamic range stops, the control of color in post. The lack och SDI-ports, the lack of a good soundcard and possibility to record good quality sound from an XLR-mic.
I would never shot anything on a phone. I can mention tons of things that makes phones useless for me. 😉
There is greatness in your hardwork keep it up brother love 💖
Love your channel bro! Great interesting content
So as claire continued pushing the zoom it became clear to me that there was a clear winner based on how clear claire's camera clearly kept a clear and focused image till claire zoomed all the way in.
Thanks for clearing that up!
the best thing was watching Claire wow very lovely
Brilliant. I do however think that most people are unconsciously affected by the better image quality. They simply aren't aware of it. So it's a good thing to have good quality. For me the main difference between these cameras is one impresses, the other is just gorgeous. Same with sound. It shouldn't impress but convey the beauty of the sound. Thnx for his.
Great content, good comments from your side and well explained!
Love from India❤️
You don't need a $250k camera to beat the iPhone or any other smartphone in video or photo quality. A $500 camera does the job.

Is that a $250,000 monster camera in your pocket, or your happy to see me?
I was wondering why the pro camera had such an insane looking lens on the front... then the zoom kept going... and going
On the right night you can get some insane shots on the moon with those lenses. You can just about make out the landing zones of Apollo
@@clank400 yea, I bet
Great advice! I like the consistence concept. Never thought of it as a major strength.
another example
for audio, pro broadcasting cameras usually use XLR plug, you can search it if you've never seen it, it is huge but really really robust and reliable
if you're using modern phones, you'd probably have to transfer your audio using bluetooth where a simple bad signal can easily ruin your entire shoot
even with physical jacks, 3.5mm jack on phones are so weak they can't survive any accidental cable trip
this video didn't just educate me... It inspired me ! 2023 with 1000D from 2008 I have now more energy to go out and start shooting. thank you
Woah, under normal lighting conditions, they look incredible close. Amazing how far technology has become
Normal? No. Optimal? Maybe. I can think of plenty of "normal" lighting conditions that the average person is in daily where a phone has terrible looking video and a camera looks great.
looks terrible
A device that updates itself without your consent never deserves the word "Pro".
The normal display on my screen seems normal but when zoomed in it is really different. Amazing..🥰🥰
like your honesty,, keep up the hard work 👏👏

7:29 Did anyone else start yelling, "No, no, no, no, no, NO!" then laugh out loud because for some reason the guy's newsfeed was more important than his camera?
