I'm no mechanic , but I've owned many GM cars . I gotta believe , if only you had put the old key in , before attempting lock cylinder removal , you'd have had better luck . You hung in there , saw it through , mission accomplished . Great Job ! Wish You The Best !
The video title is a little confusing. I thought this would show me how to replace an ignition switch. Instead it’s a video showing how to replace the ignition cylinder for the key.
Hey so your 2017 Prius Transmission fluid change video is labeled as “for kids” so I couldn’t make this comment there. What size and types of screwdriver(s) does one need to remove the screws for the underpanel and what size is the reservoir bolt?
Thats the ignition lock NOT the ignition switch which is at the bottom of the coloum. The lock is a mechanical only part, the switch is electronic.. Get your terminology right, they are two completely different parts and two completely different jobs!
@@obsessivegarage921 Its VERY important you do the right repair... If you said you needed an alternator swap and I replaced your radiator instead would you consider that a "good job"? Your ignition lock cylinder is a MECHANICAL part, your ignition switch is an ELECTRICAL part and they do completely different things.

Awesome video. Exactly what I was looking for and made switching out my 75 Corvette key cylinder so much easier.
Thx for your video dude. I think having a key would've made it easier but you did it without which is great 👍
Gracias camarada me funciono solo una luz extra en tus videos saludos 10 de 10 o A+
Your steering wheel puller is upside down, that's why the bolts were bending out. Flat side toward you.
Dude the igniction switch turned. You could have replace it in 10 min. By using a pepper clip insted of taking everything apart.😳
Not on a GM, bud. If that's possible, please share with the rest of us exactly how to do so. Would love to know.

Same issue on my 84 K5 Jimmy... frozen ignition
I didn't need a special tool, I just pulled the steering wheel off after untightening stuff

Video sucked, couldn’t see anything. Skipping over doesn’t work.
