This is in the Santa Monica Mountains about 90 miles north of where the helicopter took off from and 10 miles north of where the pilot encountered all that fog which he was so overfamiliar with he didn’t realize just how dense it was until it was too late.
Just did this hike last weekend. Looks a little different at the moment with all the recent rains. There is only a small pile of 3 rocks to mark the spot and the indent is obscured by bushed right now, but there are messages and hats and stuff in the spot.
@@joeschmoe1378 Yes...there was the impact. The indent in the video above is due to removal of aircraft kerosine. All the makeshift memorials were on the wrong spot. At 06:36 you can see some small rocks and stones. This is the spot where Kobe was found. For clarification watch: /watch?v=hsAAUYwiQDQ
I didn't see any wild animals on my hike. There is a dog park at the beginning of the trail, but they were all behind a fence. Animals in the wild are always a possibility, so you just need to stay mindful of your environment. It's also a good idea to hike with another person, especially if you have concerns about being chased... or you could always spend some money on Bear spray. I hear it's good on animals.

The indent is not where they crashed, it´s one small hill before. Exactly at 03:45
