The idea of the clam shell puller is to use the outter race to bold the roller from ripping through the cage. It jjsy works better with the outter race in place when pulling them.
@axleoffroad i realized that with the 9.75 Raptor rear the pinion shaft diameter is so wide the standard clam shell puller won't fit down over it to use it with the outer race you can put shim in there to take up space but than it's to tall over all for the hight of the large clam shell to fit so basically have to just do it with out the outer race anyway. Yukon makes and extension for the clam shell puller that allows it to slip over the wider pinions.
I can tell someone has been paying attention. 😉 We like to demonstrate to our viewers there are multiple ways to do something. Although, press being the easier method, Not all viewers own one. I appreciate the input you gave for other viewers to read and understand this.
you guys are good real good,I just want to know the side gears, spider gear ,c clip removal and install, the other parts, look like i need training on some of that lol.
Thanks for the comment! As we continue to grow, we want to focus on our content and viewers more. We appreciate you giving feedback on the video. I can definitely run a video explaining “how to replace spider gears” feedback helps from our viewers! Again thanks
Thanks for the comment. Yes, make sure you use the left side shim on the left side and the right side shim on the right side. You may need to add or subtract from each side if your backlash is not correct. Thanks for watching
If you use factory shims on one side and say it measures (example .256) then on the other side might measure (example: .250) original specs, whatever side you add to, take the same thickness away from the otherAnd vice versa. until backlash is correct and carrier is tight enough to hit with dead blow to fall out.
Keep up the good videos man. I enjoy watching.
You bet
I appreciate it!

Awesome advice! Thanks for the feedback.

bearing toasties, my favorite
Time to eat! Hahah
Excellent- thanks for the knowledge and using a great camera. Visuals mean alot👏
Glad it was helpful!
The press behind you installs the carrier bearings easier than that hammer. Holds the carrier in place to tighten the ring gear bolts too.

Thank you for this informative video with this knowledge I’m planning to open my own off road shop that specializes in this sort of work. Any advice?
Glad it was helpful!
What’s the orange thing you used to get the bearing off?
It’s a bearing puller made by ARB. Check other shorts out of me demonstrating and explaining it.
So I have a 2006 with the 9.75 rear end. Would this be apply the same way?
Can you explain your question?
Well great video. I fear that what's wrong with mine...looks like a ton of work ..about how much in cost am I looking at? Thanks.
Thanks for the comment. Labor
Cost to
Do a repair explained in the video can range anywhere from $600- $1100, that excludes parts
You said left side factory shim. What about the right side.? Mine isn’t going in easy.
Thanks for the comment. Yes, make sure you use the left side shim on the left side and the right side shim on the right side. You may need to add or subtract from each side if your backlash is not correct. Thanks for watching
How much you charge to rebuild a rear and like that
Lots of variables at play. Depends on different factors. If you’re local and interested, send us an email and we would be glad to provide a quote.
Did you use right side factory shim ?
I believe we did initially, but it’s important to add and subtract shim thickness from both sides until backlash is ideal!
@@axleoffroad ok ya because I’m having trouble putting it back in place with factory shims on both sides
Do you have a micrometer and shim kit?
@@axleoffroad yes I do , what if I use my shim kit on 1 side & factory shim on other ? Will that make a huge difference?

Take you ap off so we can see the contact pattern.
Ap?
