My dad must have good taste in games. This was among many, many games that he rented and eventually bought for me when I was young. This ended up being one of my favorite games on the Playstation and one of my favorite platformers in general. Very much recommended for those even slightly curious. It can be cutesy, but usually charming and not overbearing.
oh my god i love this game i played it on ps1 and recently got the remake for the wii and i still love it at 19 years old i feel like a little kid so happy just to play klonoa again
You failed to mention the remake of this game that they made for the Wii. It is a very faithful remake. They really just upgraded the graphics and left the rest of the game alone.
I was just playing on my ps classic that has all the games on a hard drive. I can't rationalize spending the money many games cost now. Not throwing shade just my personal.
this was my first ps game, and the first game i ever played in my first own console, i can still remember how impressed my mom was with the graphics, and they still are really awesome, good ol days
Glad to start off the years of one my favorite 2.5 plaformers ever. Remember playing the demo for the game with that sweet music. Then years later I forgot about the game in my memories until look at underrated games and klonoa one of them. I had to play this game. Namco really have a winner but too bad around that time people only care about 3d games. In my opinion there missing a real gems and now game become pretty rare. But least psn version and the wii version of the game at cheaper price
One of these days you're gonna have to fly Mohammed out there to cohost an episode of the show... the guy is practically an honorary member of the CGR staff as it is.
Sonic Team needs to take notes or Sega needs to hire the dev team that made this game for the next Sonic game, because THIS is how you do a 3D game for a 2D character right.
One of my favourite platformers. Played and completed back in 1998, when I had borrowed it off a younger cousin. I admit to having it on epsxe170 - but recently I was able to pay some 8 dollars for it officially 'Klonoa' from Sony's PSN store to relive on PS3. It would be nice if its PS2 sequel(s) would also be made available on the network :-)
Nice looking 2.5D I haven't played yet but need to try. It seems all the 2.5D platformer games that came out in the mid 90s weren't that popular because every one want full 3D at the time. As a sega fan I would recommend the Bug! series, Nights Into Dreams, and Clockwork Knight series for the Saturn. Also very creative gameplay. I'd send them to the show but I'm broke.
To this day i dont really understand why this game sold so poorly i still remember seeing a lot of promotion for it and It was such a good platformer. Im surprised it even sold poorly in Japan which kind of through out my too Japanese theory
never heard of this game or series or character before, dont remember it ever being marketed at least not in the uk dont even remember seeing it in any stores. shame looks decent platformer

Good to know this old favourite of mine is still remembered.
oh my god i love this game i played it on ps1 and recently got the remake for the wii and i still love it at 19 years old i feel like a little kid so happy just to play klonoa again
Used to love this game back in the day. I upgraded from Amiga1200 to Ps1. I now play this sometimes via epsxe1.8. Cool Game.
Klonoa is such an underrated serie.
Just bought this the other week. Memories!
I still have this and never knew it was rare until a couple years ago. Also have Tomba 2 but sadly not the first.
You failed to mention the remake of this game that they made for the Wii. It is a very faithful remake. They really just upgraded the graphics and left the rest of the game alone.
I still play this game every day!
Also Charlie Brown voices I will remember that. Love those voices have a cute charm
I wish i had bought this game back when this video was uploaded. I could have saved $350.
I was just playing on my ps classic that has all the games on a hard drive. I can't rationalize spending the money many games cost now. Not throwing shade just my personal.
No, but there's a total remake released for Wii as physical discs. It's worth checking out.
Love the Qbert reference, you should review that shizzle
That's how I first played it too! Was several years before I finally got my hands on the actual game. Best $40 on ebay I've ever spent.
40 crazy
Yep, pretty cheap compared to how much they go for these days 💰💰💰
@@JudasRapidFire u thinking about selling it?
@@BoomBang101 Lol don't even bother. Unless you got like a grand to buy the game 🤣
@@angrymobsters1599 ikr
I liked so much that game (in my opinion, one of the best platformer games ever for PS1)...
The wii remake is one of my favorite games on the system, I always tell people that they have to play it if they own a wii :3
Oh man I remember that. I had both of these games.. Lunatea's Veil was awesome.
Mark please complete this game, you will love it even more. Trust me.
Yeah, from the playstation magazine. Along with Tomba and I think they even released a Tomba 2 demo as well.
5:06 That switch Klona turns on is from Bust-a-Move. Well played Namco.. well played.
One of my favourite game ever... Really.
3:35 the sound of "Axel" from Twisted metal 2
this was my first ps game, and the first game i ever played in my first own console, i can still remember how impressed my mom was with the graphics, and they still are really awesome, good ol days
I loved this game as a kid. I need to find a copy.
Klonoa 2 is the best game I've ever played, in my honest opinion.
(in Matt from Two Best Friends Play's voice) Klonoa is the last of the Playstation OG's.
Love this game, wish i stil had it
It's on the PSN too.
Mr. Mohamed has a really good taste for videogames.
Still one of my favourite platformers. I had the biggest smile on my face when you showed the menu screen
This game was also released on the Wii with the simple title Klonoa.

This was remade for the Wii. Great game.
Is that Maxwell from Scribblenauts you're freeing from the bubbles?
One of my favorite games ever; extremely pricey now!!!
I would love to see some knew Klonoa games, even if only on PSN/XBL/etc
this game was my childhood :)
I only had a demo version of this game. It looked very nice.
It is also on PSN, if someone dont find the PSone disc.
I believe there's a version of this on the Wii's Virtual Console
They should port this to 3DS eShop.
I love it. I had the Wii version and got rid of it. It's getting a bit hard to find now.
A new Klonoa game for the 3ds would be awesome.
I really have no idea how it was/is in the US, but I'm pretty sure Klonoa has been pretty common here in Sweden.
I didn't play this one but the sequel it was amazing at that time wish they would make some if the only made sonic like this game
Because it's a great game series that doesn't get the attention and love it deserves.
I don't like the new layout but i now know my way around it. I just don't understand why they wouldn't save it for their next console.
This game is amazing! I also liked Klonoa 2 for PS2, and thought it was a better game.
I got Empire of Dreams after seeing the CGR review for it. It's so fun and cute. I want to get this one too.
Omg I played this so much in the day!
I used to love this game...it sucks now but I like it...I think it's the crooked hat and that baller ass ring he has.
in the demo for ps2 he doesnt where the hat tho i miss this game
these games are magical
I've seen klonoa before but never knew what he was from ,maybe ill look into picking up a copy
it would look amazing on the 3ds
Looking forward to see Klonoa and Dark Cloud :3 Oh the best demos that came with ps2 demo disc
One of these days you're gonna have to fly Mohammed out there to cohost an episode of the show... the guy is practically an honorary member of the CGR staff as it is.
Gotta say it looks good. Unfortunately I have more than enough games at this time.
we need klonoa 3 !!!!
The PSX version of Klonoa has a much cooler art style then the Wii version.
yes he is
I want a Klonoa for the 3DS!
😄 I completed this game weeks ago (on-stream) and it was a bit of a pain in the ass to do so but I'm such a fan of this series now.
speaking of beach volleyball Mark should review DOAXBV
Sonic Team needs to take notes or Sega needs to hire the dev team that made this game for the next Sonic game, because THIS is how you do a 3D game for a 2D character right.
oooh thanks for the heads up gotta get it now lol
this game reminds me of mischief makers
This game recieve a remake for the Wii called Klonoa. Yeah, just Klonoa.
Best review in a long time, Mark. Nice way to start this year =)
i always wanted to see klonoa vs sonic :p
I love the remake on the Wii
I'm eagerly waiting for Klonoa 3 to be announced, Klonoa really deserves another chance to shine :D
So is there gonna be a review about Klonoa 2?
Aww, Klonoa is so cute
Will it run on an emulator for Android 4.0 phones like the Samsung Galaxy SIII?
I had a demo of this.

I want klonoa 3 NOW!!!
Klonoa has to be the best WTF, ever!
Is your hair graying or is it just the awesomeness?
This game would be awesome on the 3DS.
Because it's amazing and you should replay it.

Why does it say copyright 2012 on the Classic Game Room splash image......
What does he mean by it works on the Playstation 3? Is it on the PS One Classics section of PSN or do PSX discs work when inserted on PS3's?
Mark did a 4 part interview with Mohammad over Skype in 2012. Look it up if you haven't seen it yet.
Mohamed from Qatar is a legend!
Such an awesome game...err....series of games.
There actually was a remake.. On the Wii...
To this day i dont really understand why this game sold so poorly i still remember seeing a lot of promotion for it and It was such a good platformer. Im surprised it even sold poorly in Japan which kind of through out my too Japanese theory
This game was absolutely amazing, and still is to this day
Yes! The charme and atmosphere this game has is absolutely nuts even compared today!
thanks, I had never heard of that before. Useful info. :D
Cool game. Cool review.
I'm still waiting for Klonoa 3.
Its not a cheap or easy game to get hold of. About 2/3s the original price so its not too bad if you really want it.
saying it was not popular in the west is bullshit. i loved it
never heard of this game or series or character before, dont remember it ever being marketed at least not in the uk dont even remember seeing it in any stores. shame looks decent platformer
will you review klonoa 2 for the ps2?
Oh this game is actually on the PlayStation Store for £3.99
It's on PSN and on a discount. I'm getting this!
This game looks brilliant !
