      The company ws sold in the 80´s by the founder D.Schecter to an investment group from Texas,who mismanaged them for years,until it was sold again in the mid-90´s to H.Shibuya.
      You may know him as the founder and CEO of ESP, he also owns the LTD, Edwards,Navigator,Grassroots,Takamine brands and is the President of the famous GIT Musicians Institute in Hollywood (Paul Gilbert was a teacher there).
      He moved Schecter back to California and put in charge people who were originally working there.The current CEO is a former custom shop guy and pro guitarist.
      For years,their marketing strategy was to appeal to the metal demographic were they´re very popular,but lately they have expanded their model range and have added some really cool models.
      Still,most guitar buyers prefer to throw their money to Gibson and Fender,because of their prestigious names,but small brands like Schecter are getting more and more popular.

      Purists. People long for certain names and headstocks...sometimes with good reason, but usually it's because of the misconceptions they've built up in their heads. (And I don't mean to be critical, I catch myself suffering from the mystique of certain guitars as well...)

      I have a Diamond Series C-1 Élite in Amber from 2003. It has a maple neck. Schecter only made the maple-necked amber-colored C-1Élite for that one year; in 2004 the whole line got mahogany necks. Frets look like they need a fret job; guitar plays and sustains like it doesn't. Should go ahead and give it one and see what happens. Best guitar I've ever had.

      C-1+ from the early 2000s is the favorite guitar I have. Always wanted one with a wilkinson style bridge. This is the closest thing to that I think. I am not a huge fan of the spalted maple but I love the inlays. I wish I liked the inlays of the other exotic schecter made this past year

    My initial thought with those pickups and first impressions of the top is that this would be a real classic rock machine. Then when it came to the neck it was like the whole think was catapulted forwards in time by about 50 years with the purple heart and graphite rods. The sound, however, does still seem to be pure classic rock. Taking that whole vibe with the vintage sounds and modern playability features make this guitar seem to be the best of both worlds. Also these pickups have the best split sound I have heard from 'standard' style humbuckers.

    • @greekfreak1980
      @greekfreak1980 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      These are handwound, Made in USA Schecter custom shop pickups,they sell them also separately as aftermarket pickups for other guitars.
      And Schecter´s pickups are really good,on the same level with any Duncan or DiMarzio model.
      They even have a wide range from vintage PAF´s to super high-output ceramic models.

    Schecter is really brining it lately with some great options and just well built guitars. I have bought 2 this year and love each one. Probably be buying another one. I have had 8 in my time and not a single one bad. Only traded one back in for another Schecter, it had the sustaniac in it, which just wasn't me. Was still a great guitar though.

    Darell, I consider this guitar in mahogany version. I just can’t find how big interval this Wilkinson trem gives me up and down. What’s its range please? Thank you!

    Loved the review of the Schecter C-1 Exotica I just received my own this past Saturday and its a great guitar great feel, weight and sounds great, second Schecter guitar for me. Have you looked at any of the IYV guitars, love to see a review of one of them. Thanks.

    Gives me all the warm and fuzziest seeing all these commenters who were sleeping on Schecter guitars. Yamaha is lauded as bang for buck, but once you get out of the $200-$300 range Schecter just takes the wheel.

    I've bought 3 Schecter guitars. After each one you would think I would have learned my lesson. I guess because they look nice and are cheap. Worst sounding guitars I've ever bought. Never again!

      The stock hardware on many pricey Fenders is tinny garbage! And for the big price you hardly get a PRS-level finish.

    • @mattmartinez7135
      @mattmartinez7135 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup. It’s a solid trem you just need to set it up and make sure you have a proper nut on your guitar

    The ebony on my fret board is really bad quality and the binding is cracked after only a few months at almost every single fret, the pickup switch also digs into the top pretty bad, pick ups are horrid will be changing asap could certainly do without the 50 dollar trem its awful if i didnt get it for extremely cheap I'd be mega mad.

    I always wanted a American built PRS - until now. I no longer feel I need to spend so much money on a guitar. I'm a gigging player who uses guitars as working tools.

    It's fkin awesome for the price to be honest, and it's so pretty, specially the fretboard (mine has special inlays called the "vine of life")

    Heinous! You deleted my post because I said it looked like a PRS but had a high output pickup and Schecter should have put a more classic rock pu. Not cool, DB, not cool.

    The Hagstrom XL5 is a great guitar it has a really great neck and is a HSH config with a coil tap and 5 way switch. I’ve had mine for years and it is still my favourite guitar I own to play. I paid $600 for it about 15 years ago.

    I've long been a huge fan of the Schecters. Here in Scotland (UK) they make fleeting appearances, but every one I've played has been brilliant. I currently own an Omen Extreme-FR, and it's one of my top three go-to guitars. I previously had a beautiful eighties Pacific from the California custom studio. I was gutted when I had to sell it. This one looks amazing!

    Man that is about as awesome as they come . I only wish the bolts on the neck where 🤔 ummmm. Covered with a matched set of screw hole plugs same color as body . Jumped to order and then smack in the face with all the holes with Philip standing looking back . Hope an option comes around to change it sorry just my taste.

    Don’t know why but the schecter logo looks like something out of wolfenstein 😂 wish they put the traditional logo on this instead, I know it’s a very minor thing but I feel a more traditional type player would be the buyer in this case.
