Super dope slasher!! And what I noticed watching it back is that, when Karen is looking for Alice in the abandoned building and Alice pops out with the mask (the first scare) when she removes the makeup mask there is an old woman mask right underneath. It’s kinda revealing the old lady as the killer right there in the beginning. It’s pretty genius
“BUT YOU GIVE IT TO THE WHORE!” Classic. My parents turned me on to this when I was young. That scene where the sister is killed scared the hell out of me as a kid as well did the Pastor’s death. The way she held him after stabbing him in the neck is still creepy AF!
I love that when the old lady screams “WHORE!” In church.... Alice’s mother knew they were talking about her..... that scene always got a chuckle out of me....
It's a mark of how truly insane Mrs. Tredoni was, this seemingly harmless and devout woman screaming an obscenity at a woman she hates. That, and the phone conversation where she bawls out the caller for disturbing the priest, go in my "top ten psychotic line readings list."
My mom had video stores in the late 80s up to the late 90s. It was a a wonderful place to work as a teenager. She had several classic horror films. This is where I watched Alice Sweet Alice. I will never forget it. It is definitely an unforgettable slasher film.

Hey man thank you for letting know these hidden slasher films. Some of them i have seen thanks to Lee and horror community but you mentioned several names i have never heard off
I think you might’ve gotten the names mixed up Miss Tredoni who is Father Toms maid is the killer, while Angela is Alice’s cousin and although they play with the idea she could’ve been the killer it’s later revealed to be otherwise. And Yeah Katherine the mom was the intended target during the Stairwell scene, but she was mistaken with Annie which is why she was attacked
That's very possible haha. When I review a film after a first watch, sometimes I can mix up the names. I usually try my damndest to avoid it, but when you get caught up in a flow, it happens.
I thought it was the docile husband . He was small enough to be confused as a young girl and they spent a lot of time selling him as a pushover with no balls to be a knife weilding nutzo so I thought for sure the twist was its him

Trivia: Linda Miller is the daughter of Jackie Gleason, the ex-wife of Jason Miller (1939 - 2001) who is best remembered for playing Father Damien Karras in "The Exorcist" (1973); their son is Jason Patric, who starred in "The Lost Boys" (1987). I saw this movie on VHS years ago and it has such a creepy vibe!
It was pretty good. I just watched it very first time. Misleading was great ! Just like you i was certain that killer was Alice....but that being said she was mentally unbalanced girl, way she treated her sister and her behavior was far from normal and ending kinda hinted that she might be the future serial killer. @@onesixthmania7293 At the end when Alice was holding a knife I was confused. I mean we clearly see the assistant doing all the later stabbings but they showed Alice with the knife. This is one of my all time favorites. I grabbed it out of the VHS bin when I was 11 or 12 and it just creeps me out. And then I end up revisiting it in my twenties and fell in love with it. I was able to get the same vintage mask from the 70's for my costume two years ago. Getting the yellow raincoat was a challenge as IT remake came out and all the yellow raincoats were sold out. I think I found one that I had to buy for about 50 bucks because it was the only one available but the costume looked amazing. We did a film shoot in front of an old church :)
@@DrumdumsOfficial I can see that. But I’m actually leaning more towards this: Mrs. Tredoni was Alice’s accomplice. It was only shown during the time Alice was submitted into the psychiatric ward, that Mrs. Tredoni was the killer. Just like Mrs. Tredoni, I believe that Alice also thought her mother was a sinner with how she seemed to favor her sister Karen over herself (which is only shown a few times in the beginning, but I thought it was obvious). Also, now that I’m thinking about that final shot of the movie when Alice looks in the bag and smiles at the knife, it could be interesting to think that Alice can go on killing without being suspected of anything now that she was proven not to be the killer. I actually do think it’s up for interpretation though.

Another Forgotten Gem I think you would like is Henri G Clouzot's french classic "Les Diaboliques" It has one of the best plots you will ever find in any mystery or suspense thriller. The excellent directing, acting, and writing combine with the story itself to make it a memorable experience. The tension continues to mount until the hair-raising climax. Well the film was also known as Communion or Holy Terror. This is indeed a strange a unusual slasher. Haven’t seen this one yet. Did see that it is on Amazon Prime and Tubi. Maybe I’ll check it out tonight. Usually if you’ve done a review for it, it’s worth giving a watch.
I just saw this movie just now for the first time and wow it was really good. I can't believe I never heard of it before. Story was so great. A real classic who done it mixed with a slasher in there. It really keeps you at the edge of your seat saying wow, what, how?
OMG! I remember watching this movie in the old Alcazar Theater on Slauson Blvd near Atlantic Blvd in L.A. I was 9 years old. I snuck in through a side door just to see it. 45 years ago. It brought back a lot of memories just seeing it again. Damn! I'm fuckin old, lol!
I watched this movie for the first time ever on the 6th of February, 2022, on Tubi. About one week later, on February 15th, 2022, the director, Alfred Sole, committed suicide. I couldn't believe it when I heard that. RIP.
Watched this last night on Amazon Prime and really enjoyed it. Looked for more information on this film and found out Paula Sheppard was actually 19 when she made this even though she really looked the part of a 13 or 14 year old.
Drumdums We loved it as kids, I haven’t seen it in years though. We used to love a movie called Dolls(from 1987) too. My parents rented us Faces of Death one time not knowing exactly what it was....I’m still traumatized😩 lol
Drumdums Another good 80s slasher movie that I loved as a kid and watched probably 50 times- Bloody New Year. It scared the crap out of me😁 It’s about a group of people that go to this haunted resort on a remote island.
I saw this movie getting a mention on a channel that I was watching that they were counting down the top five forgotten horror movies and thought it looked interesting by the premise. I will comment more after I’ve seen this movie. I think they actually have it on TH-cam so I will give it a watch!
Perhaps I'm revealing a bit of a possibly messed up childhood here lol but I first saw this movie at my grandma's house on a shitty VHS she bought from a yard sale, when I was about 6 years old. I always had a soft spot for this one, makes me nostalgic I guess lol In fact, i saw a ton of horror movies staying over there by either her shitty quality but interestingly weird VHS finds or by my grandpa, who'd take me to the theater and see stuff like Nightmare on Elm Street 4,5 and 6 or Halloween 4 and 5 and so on. So is it any wonder I wound up a horror junkie? Lol Nice review my friend. I love your style and approach to these films
I keep meaning to revisit this one. I saw it at my first Aero Theatre Horrorthon in Santa Monica back in 2011, but this was the 5th film (coming on around 6 a.m.) and I could barely keep my eyes open!
resonate, was looking for something obscure horror on TH-cam then watched this gem. love the lullaby theme. story was a bit to mad and confusing but great acting and 70's look. Alice was a beauty!
I saw this movie when I was 18. I went on a horror film binge for awhile during my first year of college because I wasn’t allowed to watch horror/slasher/rated R films growing up, so I rented as many of the old horror films that I could get my hands on, this being one of them. I absolutely love the horror movies from the 70’s and 80’s! When you watch films like “Alice Sweet Alice” you realize really fast that there is, unfortunately, very little originality in the genre today!
Yes! I’m so glad you watched this film! I just knew you would love it. And speaking of 70s scores, they are what I love most about those films. A lot of oboe, bassoon, violin, etc. Thanks Lee! Another great review! ❤️ 🎃#isitoctober19thyet 🎃🎃🎃
One of the greatest ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just 1 correction, because I'm obnoxious! Angela was the fat cousin who was also Annie's daughter. The killer was Mrs. Trudoni.
The Killers name is not Angela. Angela was the little chubby niece/ daughter of Aunt Annie. The killer, Mrs. Tredoni's first name was never revealed in this movie. Mrs. Tredoni was trying to frame Angela.

I just saw this movie just now for the first time and wow it was really good. I can't believe I never heard of it before. Story was so great. A real classic who done it mixed with a slasher in there. It really keeps you at the edge of your seat saying wow, what, how?
Yeah I'm so glad a good friend recommended it to me. Truly a classic.
Damn I’m so jealous. That must’ve been so cool. There’s nothing like memories of seeing the classics on the big screen.
I watched this movie for the first time ever on the 6th of February, 2022, on Tubi. About one week later, on February 15th, 2022, the director, Alfred Sole, committed suicide. I couldn't believe it when I heard that. RIP.
Holy shit. I didn't even know that. Such a shame. What a loss.
Holy crap, had missed that you had done this video. I love the movie! Great review buddy!
Watched this last night on Amazon Prime and really enjoyed it. Looked for more information on this film and found out Paula Sheppard was actually 19 when she made this even though she really looked the part of a 13 or 14 year old.
Yes she was...and she looked 12.
I definitely check it out on DVD. I love great classic horror slasher movie.. Thank you buddy
Grew up with this movie. Loved it!
This is one of favorite old school slashers
Agreed!
I adore this movie! Paula sheppard and Mrs Tredoni are so cool! I love 70's horror!
Me too. One of my favorites!
I used to watch this when I was little. My sister and I loved it.
First Name: Katy I’m glad I was made aware of it. So unique and refreshing for a movie from the 70s.
First Name: Katy OMG 😱 😂. Your poor parents! I’ve seen those myself when I was young. The alligator one always gets me.
First Name: Katy Hmm I don’t think I’ve heard of that one. I’ve heard of Bloody Birthday and New Year’s Evil. Color me curious!
That painting next to u looks so nice
Effy Thank you! My wife is quite the artist.
This movie scared the crap out of me when I was a kid
I have this VHS ...love this flick
I saw this movie getting a mention on a channel that I was watching that they were counting down the top five forgotten horror movies and thought it looked interesting by the premise. I will comment more after I’ve seen this movie. I think they actually have it on TH-cam so I will give it a watch!
Funny, Psycho poster, Psycho kinda music during the stab scene and now we can add another Psycho moment, a star dies at the beginning.
Great film.I saw it as a kid. The old lady with the curly hair was the killer.
Perhaps I'm revealing a bit of a possibly messed up childhood here lol but I first saw this movie at my grandma's house on a shitty VHS she bought from a yard sale, when I was about 6 years old. I always had a soft spot for this one, makes me nostalgic I guess lol
In fact, i saw a ton of horror movies staying over there by either her shitty quality but interestingly weird VHS finds or by my grandpa, who'd take me to the theater and see stuff like Nightmare on Elm Street 4,5 and 6 or Halloween 4 and 5 and so on. So is it any wonder I wound up a horror junkie? Lol
Nice review my friend. I love your style and approach to these films
The child who played Alice was outstanding
Yes definitely!
I keep meaning to revisit this one. I saw it at my first Aero Theatre Horrorthon in Santa Monica back in 2011, but this was the 5th film (coming on around 6 a.m.) and I could barely keep my eyes open!
Man I would love to see this in the theater.
resonate, was looking for something obscure horror on TH-cam then watched this gem. love the lullaby theme. story was a bit to mad and confusing but great acting and 70's look. Alice was a beauty!
I'm glad I found this one. It's a gem!
Ok... Your knowledge of this makes you special for sure. Thumbs up! 👍
I grew up watching this film!!!!! Yes!!!!!!!
It's awesome!
Found your channel this week and really love your content!
Tyler Dickon Thank you Yyler!
Excellent Psycho-Thriller/ early Slasher! Very underrated. Spot-on review.
Alice sweet Alice is definitely an underated slasher
For sure!
this movie was also called Communion and was filmed in my home town
One of the greatest ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just 1 correction, because I'm obnoxious! Angela was the fat cousin who was also Annie's daughter. The killer was Mrs. Trudoni.
Just watched. So good
Such a great underrated slasher. And not to mention one of the creepiest masks in a horror film. (IMO) Awesome review Lee!
Im gonna have to check this film out now. Keep up the great reviews Lee.
Thanks brother!
The Killers name is not Angela. Angela was the little chubby niece/ daughter of Aunt Annie. The killer, Mrs. Tredoni's first name was never revealed in this movie. Mrs. Tredoni was trying to frame Angela.
Cassie Rose Thank you Cassie. I got mixed up a bit during the review haha. 😂
Awesome review lee! Great flick! Was thinking it would be cool if u did a mad max series review!
Hell yeah LOVE Mad Max!
