I like a 10” power worm and a 6’ to 8’ diving crankbait right now, the largemouths and spots are starting to school up on shad right now on Dale hollow up in the river
I wacky rig a senko style bait on a 1/4oz finesse jig on deep docks. It sounds crazy but the skirt in the middle make them go even more after the wacky style lure.
Great video. Thanks... I like a zoom speed worm.. Regular size. I can do many things with it.. From skipping under brush , flipping where ever(pads, grass, etc). To top water. I use alot of different retrieves. Many for weird places but something different. Replaces 2-3 baits also
Oh yeah...repeatedly watching your James River/Chickahominy videos. This is my fishing spot. Super helpful. Don't think I'll ever get to 70+ lbs in a day even when I go where you went and fished the lures you fished. Key missing factor...I'm not JW...
The smallmouth have been very active in smith mtn lake not far from Lake Anna this week. Shallow and I’ve been ripping a flutter spoon across main lake points
They have been on craw in the James River ( my stretch is up river, non tidal) since the end of April , beginning of may. Not sure if the craw have have a good breeding season or what. But 7 out of ten fish I catch have craws in the gullet. Thanks for video sir. Very informative
I really like a ned rig and a 3 inch worm in August. Always gets me a few bites, but I'm more of a bank fisher in ponds and small lakes. Keep up the great work! Love your vids, they're very informative brother.
On sunny days in the river I’ve been absolutely smoking smallmouth with anything that spins, from a normal spinner with Indiana blades to a beetle spin, that flash of that blade is killing them this year In lakes though it’s been football and finesse jig slaying them
I have a Woody story also. My grandparents owned a bait shop and Woody stopped by almost everyday and he catfished everyday. He was single and had a little dog named Tippy he took with him. Woodys old Ford Falcon smelled like dead Shad. You could smell his Falcon when he pulled in grandpas driveway. He had all his long catfish rods hanging out the window. Me and my dad fished with him all the time. My grandpa had a picture of Tigger from Winnie the Pooh hanging in the bait shop he bought because Tigger looked just like Woody. My cousin and my uncle were at his house and he ask my cousin if he wanted a sandwich and woody had a package of bologna hanging on a nail on the wall and it was during summer in Texas and he didn’t have AC.
Just started watching you and your house mate fishing buddies love the videos. I have a question what kind of reels do you have on your cast rods. I have several of you edition Duckett rods with different reels but my ocd needs them to match
Would love to get your opinion on my home lake up here in Ohio. It’s a really good body of water but super overly pressured and makes it tough. The fish are different as well and not as patternable as other bodies of water I fish around the same area.
Im lovin the booyah boo jig green pumpkin color with a green pumkin craw on there too and flipping it and pitching it under docks and into brush piles, also love a white x-rap 6-8 right now, and i love the classic white spinnerbait, trailer or not me and my dad hammered about 15 fish in just under an hour a week ago and a half using booyah spinnerbaits with no trailer.
I have never heard the words dark sleeper from you. What is your opinion on that bait? Also congratulations on AOY. Love all your video’s. Thanks for sharing the content.
5XD, Drop shot with ned BLT or Roboworm, TRD 3.5" finesse fattyz, or the 5" and 7.5" in deeper water. Core tackle hover stroll rig with 2.75 to 4.0 swimbait, strike king fat baby finesse worm, deeper water shakey head with slim 6" roboworm, missile bait ned bomb for really tough bites or missle quiver worm, grandebass airtail rattler, magnum baits magyu 8" worm, sometimes I'll throw a finesse jig with a really small trailer to get those tough bites around cover, missile baits bomba worm (aka poop worm).
Watch everything you put out religiously. Bronco bug is my go to flipping and can’t wait for moochy. Congrats on ANOTHER AOY.

Underspin and a spy bait gets slept on this time of the year over flats and paralleling bluff walls and rip rap on tough conditions
thanks for always shouting out the midwest august is tough anywhere but as you know here in indiana its an all day challenge 😅

Thanks for the video, man.. when I'm struggling to get a bite I bust out a old school power worm and it's clutch. Great advise thanks again
Topwaters are favorite on Hartwell. Shower Blows, my friend says the Ima Skimmer but can’t ever get it. I look forward to the Jowler you designed.
My friend doubled up on his front runner with the Teckle Kickknocker last week. 2 four pound spots
Great video. Lake Anna is what I fish most, and just last night I was catching them on...a buzzbait
I never hear about Reg Texas rig worms. 6”, 4 “

Im catching them in MS using a 6” drop shot! On humps with wood. 9’ with drop offs going into 16” of water. Congratulations on AOY.

Now until end of fall, chugbug on my smallmouth river. Dropshot bitsy tube on the big pond(lake Michigan)

What about blue back herring lakes,
It might sound weird but the cleanup craw on a Texas rig. I can’t get the bass off it
Jacob I have just got in the pitchin/flipping deal and the bronco bug is the only bait I do that with bc the action is awesome
Great video , how about a 1/4 oz rattletrap up shallow.
I’ve had massive success this summer dropshoting on a Keitech easy shaker worm 5.5”
A hair jig for sure for these up north smallmouth
How about for south Florida. Local lake is Lake Okeechobee. What you throwing?
I love the worm. And the Bandito bug. And always my confidence is in chatterbait
Please do a video on Lake Anna!!! That would be sweet!!!
I've caught some big snakehead up in them creeks on lake anna on a frog, for bass throw a black buzzbait with a yellow trailer
Dang it shhhhh! Been living this time of year on 10 in worm.
I like using a Roboworm on a dropshot rig in August and September here in NC
Where you at in Nc bro!? I’m in Burlington
Big deep diving crank baits!!!
I have never heard the words dark sleeper from you. What is your opinion on that bait? Also congratulations on AOY. Love all your video’s. Thanks for sharing the content.
@@garyhawkins9440 personally I’ve never caught anything on it. But I know people that like it
Great vids bro 👌🏿
Buzzbait is always my go to
Down here in south at Okeechobee it’s summer till October😂
Congrats on another AOY.
I would normally not question any bait with your name. But if you can beat the brazalo bushwacker pro buzz bait. You have have done something..
Congratulations Wheeler on being angler of the year well-deserved my brother

Great info…thanks
Minnesota Mullet Hair Jig
Great video.
Bro why were you so protective over that craw?
Had to take that menace off the buzzbait 😂
Its summer until November in Louisiana.
I like a chugging spook, jointed jitter bug, fluke, an of course frog
Can be a flutter spoon in August
PUFF PUFF…DRAAAG
