@@BlindGuardian050 Yup they were, performed Liar on Letterman. Conan, Bill Mahar, Jimmy Kimmel, were the other biggest network television performances they did.
Now that Geoff is clean the show is better than ever. I've seen them a bunch of times but I saw them this year and it was by far my favorite show they've put on
I mean, what do you expect from the NY Times? lol "Well, they have distorted guitars, but they don't quite sound as angry as that Jimmy Hotfield guy... I guess we'll just say they're like U2 meets Metallica." [Back patting intensifies]
That was probably the worst comparison of all time, I'd say thursday would be in the realm of like at the drive in or sunny day real estate or far, but not fucking metallica and lame ass U2.
@@crowing3886 no he was just tone deaf for their first three records lol he admitted this. His improvement is very noticeable between War All the Time and ACBTLD
Love the sassy stage presence! Great performance from all of them. Also, why does Geoff look different here? He looks like a different person kinda haha
I heard this performance, particularly the vocals got them dropped from a label. Geffen, I believe. But he sounds like he normally sounds singing. It’s honestly mixed terribly. I used to work for a very famous band and i can tell you most if not all tv show performances are mixed like shit. tv shows are all around terrible places to play in general
Liam Gallagher push play they were only very famous for a short amount of time but they opened for miley, beiber, jonas bros and lame shit like that. and i also worked for cee lo green for a little bit until i had my daughter and wanted to stop touring.
It's crazy to think that music like this was ever on national TV
I miss it, this is an era long gone unfortunately but damn was it cool to witness
@@hunterwilliams8923 pretty sure taking back Sunday was even on Letterman at one point
@@BlindGuardian050 Yup they were, performed Liar on Letterman. Conan, Bill Mahar, Jimmy Kimmel, were the other biggest network television performances they did.
Why? It's incredible.
@@BlindGuardian050even crazier when you consider at the drive-in was on national tv, with a big mainstream audience applauding them. so surreal to me
Cool time when bands like this played on late night
EXACTLY. I miss Conan, Kilborn, & Ferguson for the bands.
@@ontherockspodSTD was on Conan i believe. I remember watching that one when it aired !
Just saw them live a month ago and they are better than ever.
I’m so excited!!!!
Now that Geoff is clean the show is better than ever. I've seen them a bunch of times but I saw them this year and it was by far my favorite show they've put on
The year is 2052, and this still goes hard.
I'll be back to comment when I'm collecting social security.
listening to this in 2087 and it’s still great
@@bobbyboucher1096 i;m collecting for a disability here, back to say how good thursday was and is.
As someone from the year 2669 i can confirm, this shit is fire

Thursday is the best post hardcord band ever. NJ finest. Have seen them about 30 times in venues all over NJ and NY and its worth it everytime
This pure Art at its best. Going to see them Live This February in Mesa,AZ!!!
1987 and this still goes hard 💪

A performance for the ages! \m/
Unreal and really good. Thanks for sharing this.
I love Thursday
I miss. This kind of music, which is really music!
You know they're good when the crowd that probably only listens to pop went wild at the end.
So many emotions listening to this song 🤘🏾😈🤘🏾
Absolutely agree
omg Geoff's moves
They sound nothing like metallica lol
Or U2!
I mean, what do you expect from the NY Times? lol "Well, they have distorted guitars, but they don't quite sound as angry as that Jimmy Hotfield guy... I guess we'll just say they're like U2 meets Metallica." [Back patting intensifies]
It's called sarcasm.
Seriously
That was probably the worst comparison of all time, I'd say thursday would be in the realm of like at the drive in or sunny day real estate or far, but not fucking metallica and lame ass U2.
This is real music love them..there lyrics man..
these guys are so...clinical haha. Super polished sound and good showmanship, it almost looks like B roll for a music video.
Whoa! How I miss Geoff rocking those Pumas (Roma)
2020 still listen to this.
During covid
Just now realizing how similar Geoff & Daryl from GJ have similar characteristics in both their physical & stage presence.🖤
And they both were influenced by Dennis Lyxzén. Don’t you think?
ohhhhh geoff rickly i love u so bad
I think it's crazy that it's not anymore.
imagine seeing them and ATDI on the same bill. sheesh...💙💙💙💙
I'd have died to see that.
In a NJ basement

Shit what year is this from, I'm in love with this video, this is one of my favorite songs by Thursday
Must be from the early 2000s
Not one of their best performances.. but still one of my favorite bands. Great performance
Lol def my same exact thoughts. Bad performance of a great song.
Sound guy shafted them. An it's clear Geoff is sick here.
@@crowing3886 no he was just tone deaf for their first three records lol he admitted this. His improvement is very noticeable between War All the Time and ACBTLD
Drummer is solid as usual. Best musician in the band.
The performance was great to me! Geoff's vocals sound fine but the mixing was done terribly. They did them dirty
Man they perform so fucking good
2022 and it still goes hard
Very unique lyrics
So much sass
lol friggin nailed it with this comment
love Thursday!!!
I wish i couldve seen em live...im sad now..they r so perfect
Seeing them in 2016 was top 5 concerts ever and I’ve probably seen hundreds
Just saw them live last night, they’re still touring
Seen ‘em twice in the past 2 years and see them again in 4 days- they’re still touring! Still got it too
Awesome Band!! 😊🤘
So many Metallica and U2 vibes.

Helluva performance
Fucking legends !
comparing Thursday to Metallica and U2 is crazy (Thursdays insane lyricism and style does not compare in the slightest)
The performance is great. However, Geoff's vocals are buried in the mix and he has no reverb. Sound sucks. Band is amazing.
The bands back then knew what was coming.... they knew music was dying. Gosh I love Thursday.
music dying? huh?
2021 and this shit still slams hard

He sounds fine to me. Could have been much worse. Funny that they got dropped from Geffen who had Nirvana, a band certainly rougher than Thursday.
*Island Records
Coming back to say they didn’t get dropped from Island Records for this performance, the album after this was also released on Island/Def Jam.
year 2121 and star wars and stuff, but still goes hard.
Craig Kilborn used to have all the badass emo bands on the show
