Not to take anything away from this girl's creativity, grit, and construction skills, but the stability of the soil she has to work with is a major factor in her ability to construct such a structure. In my area, the walls would have caved in fairly early. In this case, the soil is perfectly suited to be "sculpted" into this shelter/pool.

Fun idea, and I can see myself spending a day or two in it. But that water was already looking murky when she got into it. With no crossbreeze the air would be stifling in no time. The sod would quickly start turning brown. And those carefully carved edges started wearing down almost as soon as they were finished. In less than a week the space would be unusable. Seems like a lot of work to do for so little reward.

Second I've done plenty of holes and done plenty of things and I've never needed to wear gloves, unless for safety reasons. And their is nothing on het video's that even remotely requires her to wear gloves, only soft people like you wear gloves all the time.
Far as your allegations and accusations about her having help and needing special tools, let's see you back that up with some "real evidence" if you have any or is all you can do is talk garbage?

@@blanketstarry7725 first off my male brother, i am perfectly calm and cool as you put it. The mere fact i was nice with my response before proves that and for the record you dont want to see me when im not "cool" as you put it, as im not a nice man to be around when im not.
Second, what has other shelter digging shows got to do with this girl and her show? What girls do you want other shows is irrelevant and has got nothing to do with this girl and her show.
Thirdly, you can believe what you want, but until you have proof to say she has help or what she does is fake as other's have said. Maybe you and other's should keep you mouths closed and stop spreading rumours, talking trash and making baseless allegations and accusations, which none of you can backup with one shred of proof.
Forthly, far as needing gloves i stand by my statement, which is you dont need gloves to do what she does, even with this build in the video.
She has working people's hands and working people get blisters at first, but your hands adapt and you form "calluses" on your hands, which protects your hands from getting blisters. Which in another sense is like having gloves on.
Fifthly, dont patronize and be condescending towards me. You know a damn thing about me, you dont know what I can do or what I have done. So allow me to educate you a bit of what i have done and am capable of doing, my male brother.
When I was 14 years old I dug my own underground bunker just for fun and it was just as deep, if not deeper than the hole she dug and i did that with a shovel, a pick and a flathead crowbar.
I also built jumps in the park behind my place, since i was very young and right through my teens and i did all that with a garden hoe and a shovel.
Ive also dug post holes, tree holes, grave holes, ditches, trenches, pits and other holes. Ive moved more dirt, sand and clay than you can possibly imagine and i guarantee ive done more than you.
Ive been a Labourer my whole life and im willing to bet more manual Labour than you. So don't talk down to me like you know me as you dont know anything about me.
So please save your Patronizing and Condescending attitude for someone else and i dont need it or want it.
Lastly it seems this girl and myself have something in common, you just like the other's who have said stuff about her and put her down. You have all jumped to conclusions and made baseless statements about her and not one of you has provided not one piece of evidence to backup your allegations or accusations.
And why? because just like you did with myself, you jump to conclusions based on your own opinions without any facts to back it up.
So my opinion is simply this, if you cant prove she has help or her video's are fake as other's have said. Why dont you keep you baseless allegations and accusations to yourselves, give the girl a break and just watch the video without spreading lies and hating on her for No reason. And if you cant do that why dont you go be a pain somewhere else and leave the girl alone and let us people who do believe in her, to watch her video's without you endless negativity.

      Hah.
Not as simple as this video portrayed.
When I was under ten (back in the days on the family farm) I too thought it would be cute, to dig my way through to the other side (as everyone said China was on the other side, so to prove it one way or the other, off I set to digging)
Well, after several months of digging every day, and then after a few more digging not quite every day - I had me a trench some 8 ft deep, 3 ft wide and which had three channels (I had thought of making a fourth side channel and opening out a living quarters inside the square inner pillar), until the farming irrigation season started.
I came home from school one day and stopped at the farm gate thinking ...
      What the hell was wrong?
That's when it dawned on me that dad had started his summer fortnightly irrigation periods and had simply "flood irrigated the front yard & the front lawn around the house.
OK that's OK - and I started towards the house down the drive until ...
Where the hell is my tunnel complex?
      Oh Buggah Me..
      There's a lake there now.
I'd dug it on the dry side of the irrigation races, where it T spilt, to the back paddock behind the house, and the main race went down the lane to the rest of the farm.
Thus had forgotten about "how" we irrigated the front yard & lawn.
Near the driveway gate we had our main water box, where we dropped our 27 hours of 4 head of water into our private farm water races, to irrigate a little over 25 acres, once a fortnight.
Well, buggah me - I had a DEEP lake in a U shape that Dad fell into when walking across what "should" have been a foot or two PUDDLE - between the two races !!!!!
So - I started again the next day or so - on the other side of the main race - behind the hedge (which ran down towards several other farming properties) and on a clay bump, where I knew it never got watered.
Hard Trev - nah almost impossible I'd say.
Clay as solid as rock - until I reached a light gravel pad, which kept falling into my trench as I dug.?
Under cutting the clay so much - that a portion fell in (almost on top of me)..
      Hard - nah impossible.
Hence - I finally quit while still alive, with a new trench in a straight line 15 to 20 ft long, 4 ft deep.
I'd dug all these different trenches over the period of about six months (after school) until I decided that China must be a hell of a long way further down.
The "so-called' little house that our missy dug here in this video - possibly took here all of the summer season, and she NEVER continued with it after the monsoon rains.
      Why?
Because even that light plastic ground sheet, would have let a lot of water in, and the clay underneath would have been so mushy & slippery, as to have become a wide shallow pit, in the next dry season.
But at least she proved to herself - (and to us via her video camera clips) that it was possible.
As to her having it as a home long term - nah no sidewall supports, and no way to get fresh air down, when the fire was on for any length of time, nor would she have survived the intense heat build up, inside that cave after a while either.
Nah - good show, but that's all it was, a show - to herself, that she could dig a hole (will done), but of no significant benefit to anyone.
I will say though, what a brilliant way to keep slim and fit.

Vietnamese villagers can dig miles of tunnels with caverns much bigger and more elaborate than this, in fairly short time periods. I've seen - and helped - them do it.
They just work hard, and have culturally adapted skills and tools, passed down over 10s of thousands of years or more. It's the same in Turkey, Malta, South and North America, China - all over the world.
In Turkey, they have found entire underground cities cut and carved just like this - from 7-20 stories deep, and able to hold tens of thousands of people, w/ air shafts, toilets, baths, 2-ton rolling doors closing from the inside only - with graineries, wine presses, animals for milk and meat, birds, and private and public chambers. They have now found that many of these underground cities were connected by deep underground tunnels, and rivers with openings to the surface, so they could plant and harvest from miles away, and bring supplies in via underground rivers, on shallow boats. The cities were interconnected by a tunnel systems (still are).
We think this is all so amazing - but only a few thousands of years ago (and still today), these kinds of skills are - and were, commonplace - literally, human nature.
Only we Americans think that "Professionals have to do it." (Everything must be done to code, right? No). You MUST have machinery, right? No.
I wonder, 10,000 years ago, where hunter-gatherers who were building their own shelters like this, would find the nearest "professionals" to do it for them?
They probably had to find them on the newest "stone phone."
And where would they go to stand in long lines waiting to pay for "licenses to live?" (nowhere).
Humans are an incredibly capable species. It's why there are now ~7 billion of us.
Unfortunately, only a tiny portion of that number would survive in the case of civilization collapse.
It's a pity people today mock people with these skills, and find it UNBELIEVABLE that one - or a few - people could build shelters like this, and much more elaborate, in a fairly quick time frame.

This was not meant as a long-term shelter. The soil is an aggregate of dried mud and clay, with a thin layer of rop-soil (probably silt from a rainy season).
Since we don't know where this is, it's possible to build a dam around it - or this may be on a high mesa - with a nearby small lake. In this case, with some more thatching as a roof, it could be used more.
I think, though, that this is more to show what CAN be done, with a little hard work. We need to be reminded of how capable humans actually are.
The people talking about the "impossibly perfect shapes" have apparently never heard of "Compasses" made of a center stick, with a long, thin vine cut to a specific length, or string used to first draw a circle, and then other circles to make every one of these very basic shapes, by drawing lines across and through them. VERY basic "geometry" - MUCH less complicated than making fire.. No "professionals" or "heavy Equipment" needed.
A compass and a square are the most basic building tools to form a design on the ground, from ancient to modern times - and the 3 hand-tools (shovel, axe/pick, and polisher/scraper). she used are also the most basic building tools - for foundation work, or digging the shape, as she did...

Very interesting and impressive construction. The very dangerous item is the indoor fire. That firee, plus the candles, really increases the chance of suffocation. The burning materials had to be carefully selected since I saw not a hint of smoke...which you get with regular fires. Even with the 2 ventilation holes ("chimney" and doorway)...there's just not enough to dispel all the toxic gases.

It's fake bro bro. ALl these types of videos are. All of them have one thing in common: the usage of industrial tier construction equipment off camera. Using simple logic it should be obvious that one woman [or man] alone could not do all of this 10 ft underground at scale, ESPECIALLY not with these tools. They make people look like suckers with these videos. Also, where's the dirt piles? There are no dirt piles because excavators came in to dig that hole to begin with hahaha.

@@sunofpeter2 I think you're right. I could see she started with very good plans, so good in such varied subjects that I was beginning to be very impressed with her intelligence. It's one of those "possible but unlikely" things. I also wondered how she made it so perfectly regular, starting with the pentagon itself, until I saw pencil marks on the wall and wondered why she's hiding her drafting tools. You can see a long, perfectly straight pencil line in line with the bottom of the first niche before she puts the decoration around it. And she obviously has somewhere else to go to sleep; she hasn't pitched her tent right next to the build. _And_ it's unlikely that a person doing hard physical work in a hot country would wear the exact same thing every day without a good reason. Seeing all these things before I read your comment, I'm disappointed but hardly surprised to hear she probably has a crew of helpers and is faking the solo build.
