Hi, I have a lot of attachments, 23 total! From day 1 there have been air gaps in my retainers, but they click into place and they fit snuggly around the attachments. Should I be concerned and contact my ortho?

Thanks for the question! You should definitely reach out to your ortho and confirm everything is fitting properly. Sometimes it's as simple as texting/emailing them some photos of your teeth with the aligners in. Good luck!

Great question. Usually dental implants will be done after the orthodontic treatment. Good luck!

Hi doctor, I'm curious... Are there any situations in which the teeth simply don't move? I mean, if we assume the aligners click into place well at the beginning and are worn 22 hours a day, are they ever to just not move the teeth? Thank you

This is a fantastic question. There is a condition called Ankylosis, in which the tooth is fused directly to the jaw bone and will not move. It's rare and is usually associated with teeth that never completely erupt into the mouth, or have experienced a previous trauma.

@@GluckOrthodontics Thank you. It's reassuring to hear that this is a rare case. I'm just paranoid that my treatment will go wrong for some reason.

I recently started my journey and my teeth hasn’t been tracking for two months. I’ve been stuck on the same aligners for the past 8 weeks and I was wondering if it’s possible to get a refund? I’m on aligner 4. I followed all the instructions but when I switch to my next tray, there are a lot of air gaps and the chewies aren’t working either

Thanks for the question! Have you spoken to your orthodontist about this? There may have been a defect during the manufacturing that would cause the aligner to not fit (we've been told this happens in ~2-4% of aligners). You may need to be rescanned and have a new set of aligners made. This isn't uncommon at all. Once you get a new set that fits perfectly, you can keep going. Good luck!

Hey JellyBean! (Great username!). We feel you about not being able to get in to see your doctor. Our practice has been closed since March 13. You should be fine with the 3 month hiatus. That said, not a bad idea to reach out to your orthodontist to check in and see if they want a progress report on your teeth. They may ask you to send some photos or schedule an online "appointment" to check in. Good luck!

hi there, I just went to my first orthodontic appointment and the orthodontist does not recommend attachments on teeth. Is this okay?

    • @GluckOrthodontics

Thanks for the question! It really depends on the case, although 99% of our comprehensive cases involve attachments.
