Just a little tip rather than using the welding rods as measuring gauges just measure the outside diameter of the tube, this is the only accurate way to do this job. Personally id just buy an elbow to weld on which will create less resistance to what ever medium being transported in this pipework installation.

I’ve made that cut freehand with a torch hundreds of times. Not a welder by trade. A Texas Rancher with many miles of 2 3/8” pipe fence, gates, and corrals. Now I am 65 and no longer help with that sort of thing. Life out here is grand.
I love the trick with the measuring and the paper! I think you can get even better results by: - Grinding a little angle at the pipes after cutting so you have a V-notch into which to weld - Clean up the pipes a bit more prior to welding to make the weld flow better - Pull one weld instead of multiple spot welds after one another - You will get chunks of oxide layer get stuck in-between like this - Please don't use a cutting wheel on your grinder for shaping those round edges. use a thicker wheel for that. Otherwise, you might hurt yourself by the thin cutting disk breaking
Yes I was going to say that one pull instead of spot welding. The weld will penetrate better. And l used to do it that way but my welding teacher said that's cheating and not good penetration.

This is actually a great way to cut 45s. Especially for does of us working in Pharmaceutical or Manufacturing industry .First time right. Especially if u were using 316 SS, it is not cheap.. Garage and mickey mouse fabricators would not understand.

Complete welding newb here, but after you cleaned that weld up it looked like there were heaps of divots and holes in the actual weld. Im building up to eventually tackle my own bar work. How strong would that weld be in an impact situation?
Incredibly weak is your answer. never do this. Especially with 6010 stick. If you want a strong weld use the proper welding process for the right material if your going to be welding thin Guage material like in the video use tig welding or MIG welding. And never tack an entire joint. Run full beads.
@@danzig159 what does a key hole have to do with welding thin Guage tube stock? A key hole is formed from open root stick and tig welds done on thicker gapped grooved joints from 3/16 to 1/8th in gaps. Good enough for you? If you want a strong weld that can withstand impact you weld a full bead, this tacking bullshit only leads to inconsistency, gaps, holes, and slag inclusions in the weld joint.
Buddy 6010s holds 60,000 psi of pressure it’ll be strong enough he just needs to stay on there a little bit longer and not come off and go back on and just step with a lower temperature and I’ll be perfectly fine for Alex trying to go over with 7018 that holds 70,000 psi of pressure Meg is OK and so is Tig They’re all strong
@@brantnassar642 when I mention “especially with 6010 stick”, I’m referring to how hot and volatile it runs as the purpose of most types of 6010 rods is to get deep penetration within your base material. It’s really not ideal to tack all the way around a corner but joint like that made out of thin material because of you likely hood of getting arc blow and gouge. another issue of tacking a joint together like that is the constant heating and cooling of that joint and previous tacks changes the hardness of the tack weld causing the tack to become brittle and easily break if the joint were to come under stress. The joint absolutely has a higher likelihood of having those tack welds pop or crack.
Welding strength equals zero due to no heat penetration at all. This is how you get people seriously injured or killed when fabricated like this. Any force will easily break your weld. So don't use this example if it's for anything else than a yard fence.

Otro Pend... sando lo mismo. Carajo... Se toma un tubo un 1/4" de diametro mas grande que el que vas a cortar, OK? Con un carton Pre-marcas la linea "guia". Se le da un corte en 3/4 partes con un disco de corte y con la apertura de el grosor de un marcador o plumon (Un 1/8") en el tubo que va a embalsamar por fuera, o sea, con el que vas a marcar los que vas a cortar. Un corte en Linea Recta. Fabricas uno con 45 grados, otro con 30, etc... metes el tubo 'guia' por fuera y marcas el de adentro usando el corte pre-hecho en el tubo 'guia' y ya! Cual es el pinche misterio? Ya tienes un tubo GUIA pre-fabricado con lineas Rectas en Redondo para usarlo una y otra vez. Pues para que te enteres de una buena vez! Asi es como se construye una guia tubular. No le des tanto credito al Hindu este usando metodos primitivos. Acabo de inventar un buen dicho: "Piensa e' Inventa Diferente. I'm 73 and I was developing 90degree elbows on paper to wrap around d pipes when I was 16 .this is rough fabbing,
I've used a many wrap one of the best tools in my tool box next to my center punch

Muito bom, mas se fizer um molde com um pedaço do próprio tubo, em formato de abraçadeira, ficaria mais prático para fazer o serviço quando o volume de trabalho for grande.

Para que me hubiera enterado antes, siempre realice complicados trazos, para realizar ese tipo de cortes en diferentes diámetros de tubos

Otro Pend... sando lo mismo. Carajo... Se toma un tubo un 1/4" de diametro mas grande que el que vas a cortar, OK? Con un carton Pre-marcas la linea "guia". Se le da un corte en 3/4 partes con un disco de corte y con la apertura de el grosor de un marcador o plumon (Un 1/8") en el tubo que va a embalsamar por fuera, o sea, con el que vas a marcar los que vas a cortar. Un corte en Linea Recta. Fabricas uno con 45 grados, otro con 30, etc... metes el tubo 'guia' por fuera y marcas el de adentro usando el corte pre-hecho en el tubo 'guia' y ya! Cual es el pinche misterio? Ya tienes un tubo GUIA pre-fabricado con lineas Rectas en Redondo para usarlo una y otra vez. Pues para que te enteres de una buena vez! Asi es como se construye una guia tubular. No le des tanto credito al Hindu este usando metodos primitivos. Acabo de inventar un buen dicho:
