My daughter worked for a Jain company and the owner’s wives openly derided Americans in front of her as if she wasn’t there. one common refrain was that Americans don’t know how to treat their servants and are too nice to them. one of her jobs was getting fake tourist visas for tech workers who worked for the company and did shift work, many sharing an apartment sleeping in shifts And I paid a lot more attention to my kids than what I saw among many women. And of course Seattle had to make it a law forbidding bias against Dalits. Which Indians protested. So really…. Look in the mirror Samira. I’m from the UK, I have watched a few of the interviews with these ladies, and I still don’t know what they are asking of white women apart from admitting your a racist? I might have missed it?
So I am still learning and I may be misunderstanding, but from what I’ve gathered so far is that they want white women to educate ourselves on systemic racism, look inside of ourselves to see and acknowledge our own racism, and speak up when someone says something racist. For example, if you’re at a family dinner and you’re aunt says something negative about Black people (maybe criminalizing them), you can tell her what she said is racist and educate her on the systemic racism that stacks the card against POC (the justice system specifically targets POC) as opposed to just staying silent in order to avoid conflict. But again, I could be wrong because I am still learning. Hope this helps ❤
