Eurovision 2022: Semi-Final 2 rankings visualised | Animated scoreboard

- A visualisation of every ranking and point scored in the second Semi-Final of the 66th Eurovision Song Contest, which took place on Thursday 12th May 2022 in Turin, Italy.
Ahead of the Contest this semi-final was considered quite open by lots of fans, the only really safe qualifier being Sweden. Sweden dominated the jury score in impressive fashion, dropping only 18 points from the maximum. Israel, Poland and Romania’s public voting agreed with their juries giving the Swede’s three not-that-common 24 point totals.
The televote gave an interesting result in the whole though, with Sweden and Serbia tying for first place, both with 174 points…although let’s remember ties don’t really exist in Eurovision anymore and Sweden is deemed to have won the basis that more countries voted for ‘Hold Me Closer’. This metric was added as a gesture to weaken any potential regional blocs but there’s no evidence for that in ’In corpore sano’s case - 12 points from Australia and from neighbouring Macedonia to name two!
Azerbaijan qualified for the final without receiving any public voting points, ‘Fade to Black’s jury score high enough to see it through - knocking North Macedonia’s entry into unlucky 11th, but with a neat 20 point difference.
Once again there’s a tie for points in the final tally, with Ireland getting 15th place over Malta in 16th on account Ireland’s higher televote score (35 to 20).
For full transparency, there is a tiny mistake in the televote rankings at the end. Malta is shown in 16th position in the televote table, however more countries voted for it in televote (9 to 3) and it should be shown in 15th place, with North Macedonia below it. This is due to me not applying all the tie-break rules to these broken down tables…I will do better!

I think Azerbaijan is the first country ever to qualify by getting points entirely from one side. I'm kind of surprised it flopped so much by the televoters. I think it was the haircut.
I knew San Marino did better than I thought. I was gutted when he didn't qualify.
The jury was just as bad at dumping 12 points to Sweden as the televoters were with Ukraine.
I mean Sweden got points from almost every country except 2 in the televote, so thats justified
So, out of the known countries' ranking, the one who was closest to get televote points was Cyprus (13th).
Montenegro finish last in televote in almost all the countries is sad.
I guess Azerbaijan would rather vote for Cyprus than Armenia, despite their sympathy to Turkish Cyprus. But 12 pts from the televote was surprising
Still didnt expect Ireland to flop that hard, especially since her performance was a lot better than Cyprus'
I was disappointed Sheldon didnt get a lot of points in the final as well. But then again performing after Sam Ryder is a challenge. Sam really crushed all of the male ballads to dirt
Montenegro being last a lot of times was expected. I love the song but the performance was forgettable

As an Azerbaijani, I personally hold nothing against Greek Cyprus, and yes, Ela was my winner this year :)
@@ismaelsuleimanov5835 Perhaps. BUt your government does. In fact, they once even tried to recognize Northern Cyprus but it didnt happen because of Cyprus' threat that they will recognize Nagorni-Karabakh as an independent if Azerbaijan dares to do that. It also does not help that Cyprus has a significant Armenian minority.
But I understand. Despite their conflicts, Greece and Turkey are culturally close. So are Cyprus and Azerbaijan
Why are some of the jury and public scores n/a?
because EBU announced that there were irregular voting issues from 6 countries from SF2. that's why n/a in this SF and Final
