Great vid in superbly photogenic terrain, as usual in your Lakes vids. I reckon Hause may be something to do with passes ( lowest routes through the hills ?) as this is where they all the ones I've been at seem to be, but don't quote me on it, UTB, Johnny
Hi Andy, your depth of knowledge of the Lake District is really impressive, and your love and enthusiasm for wild camping and being out in all weathers infectious. What singles your videos out in particular is the way you take the time to explain in detail the geography of the area you are walking in, which gives the viewer a real sense of place. Another very watchable piece of film-making.
Nice one Andy. Been all round there but missed Eel Crag. Didn’t know it was a Wainwright 🤦🏻♂️🤷♂️. Nice pitch too. Looks like you timed the weather perfectly 👌🏻. ATB 😎👍
Another Bobby Dazzler video Andy, I sent this to my American friend in Texas, she's originally from New Jersey, she loves the scenery, but had a very hard time understanding you 🤣🤣 That's Americans for you 😉😉😉 Hell she still finds it a bit difficult with my scouse accent.
@@gainesy_walks I get that a lot as well coming from the western lakes district. Good thing is where we are, were central to Ireland, Isle of Man, Scotland, Geordieland, Yorkshire and further south....Wales so our accents have a good mix of them all but were able to understand them all too.
Cracking spot Andy 😍 I'll keep that in my mind for when I do that block of wainwright's. Got 28 to do in March starting in Glenridding, figure of eight including the Fairfield horseshoe. Fingers crossed the weather's favorable for the views 🤞
Another banger Andy. I was on Lambfoot Dub on the same night. The morning was horrendous. The weather came in much earlier than forecast and I got hammered by the wind. ATB
Another great video Andy. I used to know one of the last mine owners/miners... Lindsey Greenbank. He was one of a partnership of 3 guys... they worked it as a hobby at weekends in the 1980's. They were mainly looking for mineral specimens. They got a fair bit of Zinc Blende out. It was last worked commercially by Mckeccnie Brothers in the 1960's🤔 for Bryrtes, and a bit of the Zinc Blende. Lindsay ( sadly passed away now) and his mates packed in after they had a bad collapse... while they were away doing their day jobs! Hopefully that might fill a few gaps in your knowledge of Force Crag mine. ATB cheers Alistair 👍
Cracking that Andy. Just been watching while I pack. Some nice summits round there. I loved my camp on Sail. Need get back round that area at some point. Nice work mate 👍🏼👍🏼 ATB. Craig
It would be nice to be able to confidently put ones hand into a rock crevice or hole but here it could have an occupant (snake) and will quickly remind you it'd not a good idea ending in Medivac by Chopper with S&R.
Andy, don't worry, snows over rated!😅 I'm sure, this mine use to start working if the coper price was good. Mind you this was over 40 years ago?😮 Cheers Andy, top notch.😊
Nice one as always Andy, that looked like a great camp. Those Showa 282 Temres gloves are well worth a try because they are really easy to get on and off even when your hands get wet you can do pretty much all you need to do with them on like handle poles and pegs and even tying guy lines up and hip belt pockets and strap adjustment without too much difficulty . They are lined and breathable and easy to wash and dry and the best bit is they only cost £20. The only negatives are they look a bit dorky and they have gauntlet style cuffs but i always wear waterproof jackets 2 sizes bigger so the longer sleeves not only add extra wind and rain protection but they hide most of the glove and they only come in blue and the biggest size i have is size 9 and would prefer a size ten . I have got other gloves that cost 4 and 5 times the price but these are my go to pitching and striking camp gloves in the wet and cold and then i use Montane prisms if its dry for everything else. The art of gloving up is a bit of a challenge in cold wet conditions but this combo cost 60 quid all in and works a treat for me .ATVB
cheers Olan i took a look at those but ive gone & bought some buffalo mitts..theyre great wore them on latest camp & tbh my hands were that warm i ended up taking them off lol..ive a pair of Rab primaloft gloves i wear too similar to the montane prism..
I noticed that , they must be good then and at least you have found a solution. I prompted myself to buy another pair of the Termes but this time i managed to get them inn a size 10. These are great for getting on and off with cold wet hands and handling tent poles and walking poles , pegs and rucksack straps and belts etc@@AndrewBeavers
Cracking video as always Andy! 👍 Seriously liking the look of your tent, quite a high price tag though I notice! Could you maybe give us a walk through of it in your next video maybe? Together with how you rate it? That would be much appreciated 😊
Love the challenge of the hike that you manage to capture in your videos…that’s not easy! Is the Atom Packs bag your go to these days! I wonder how comfortable they are with no frame like my bulky Osprey has…BW Andy, Sarah
Hi Andy. Do you and fellow followers think Big Sky Chinook 1P is somewhat up to the winds that the Hilleberg Soulo can withstand? I have a Soulo but the Chinook is half the weight and my ageing bones would welcome the reduction in rucksack weight.
its a great little tent & will take some weather thrown at it..its obviously not hilleberg soulo strength or quality but it'll see me for what ill be taking it out in.
were you up Helvellyn this afternoon ? Saturday 10/2 ? I am sure it was you who walked through my viewfinder as I was taking a photo - your distinctive orange jacket , atom pack and orange boots are a dead giveaway ??
Hi Andy. Brilliant mate, I do love that area of the Lakes. Looked a cold walk back out. Thanks for sharing your adventure mate as ever, all the best, Dave.
Another great vid I've been up there a few times.ive been thinking of getting some of those glasses do you think the smoke lenses would be ok to replace my ski goggles as the ski goggles are quite bulky.
Another great video. Can you please just clarify the mid layers I think it was you refer to that I think you’ve said previously are available in three versions , I’m assuming thicker laters for more warmth. Thanks
@chriswarren4546 personally I think a chair is a luxury that if you're prepared to carry the xtra weight then why not..I'm not so bothered..however if you get to a point where you're pretty dialed in with Yr kit & you think a chair will add to the comfort of a camp then go for it..

Great video in the beautiful Lakeland fells.

Excellent video...great views all around. Pity the weather was nasty in the morning..many thanks and best wishes.
That looked damn cold! Great scenery though and must've been an enjoyable wild camp. Glad you took some whiskey to warm up. 🥃
Fantastic Andy
Great viewing on a crappy Friday neet in Derby!
Cheers!

To be fair Andy does have a very broad Yorkshire accent, so I can understand how someone abroad might struggle with it a bit.
I'm from a few miles North of Andy, when I was in the states people kept asking if I was Australian!!?!
Tejas here too - Mind, I have to see (and hear) all of Andy’s vids, but feel I gotta use captions, though they’re bad scrambled translation.

Subtitles would be a great idea!
Enjoyed that Andy, I do like that set of fells. Whatver Wainwright said, that way up can't be as bad as that zig zag up Sail 🤔😊
there's a few zig zag paths in lakes david that make you take a deep sigh lol..
@@AndrewBeavers I think it's cos the last time they'd just put new hardcore on it and some were the size of a fist, reyt ankle breakers

Always very good safety advice andy brilliant vid pal everytime I watch your vids It sets me off to get misen out thanks for doing your videos mate 👍
Another belter Andy, I right enjoyed that.
Great video by the way and very brave of you to be venturing out into such a wild weather forecast !
Cheers Andy, great video as always:) I camped very close to that a couple of years back, best camp I've had, cracking sunset and views:) atb mate:)

Nice one Andy. I was camped on Great Knoutberry same night. Not very windy but by ‘eck it felt cold even in my down bag.
Another great video Andy
Love this bit of escapism for me anyways. Just wish I had the bottle to do this for real. Got the gear. Planning on venturing out in the spring.
It would be nice to be able to confidently put ones hand into a rock crevice or hole but here it could have an occupant (snake) and will quickly remind you it'd not a good idea ending in Medivac by Chopper with S&R.
i can imagine..worst we'd get here is a spider or some other creepy crawly so we're lucky in that sense.
Quality as always top man 👍
Wicked video mate!
You need to do a camp with Solo Summiteer!
had many camps with dave...look back at our vids..

Hi Andy, fab vid as usual mate thanks for sharing. where did you the clear lens glasses from.
TIA.

they're a pair of bolle safety glasses..do a great job of protecting eyes in wind & sleet where goggles are overkill.
Been Looking forward to this

You will of course, been up Lorton Gully (Grade 3S) on Grasmoor...

Belter Andy 😊
Great video Andy good knowledge of the peaks, can I ask what jacket you are wearing,
orange jacket is the Rab vapour rise summit.
Another great vid I've been up there a few times.ive been thinking of getting some of those glasses do you think the smoke lenses would be ok to replace my ski goggles as the ski goggles are quite bulky.
they could be but for winter in snow blizzard etc i dont think a pair of goggles can be beat.
Which tent mate.?
big sky international chinook 1p.
Fantastic video where's the jacket from and what model is it ?
its the Rab vapour rise summit.
How warm is it

yeah sort of..cant see me using the voyager much now so it may be put up for sale.

What are you using to record the temperature and wind speed?
a skywatch explorer 2..
