  • Here is my review of the Dremel 4300 rotary tool and accessories including the Dremel 231 Shaper router table. This is a very honest review that covers some issues I had in the past I am hoping are now fixed. I will make a 1-year review when the time comes.

    Great review. I've used the Dremel 3000 and 4000 for years. They've always been a must-have in my workshop. The pillar drill conversion has also been a worthy investment for me.

    Great reviews Spicy. I use a Dremel 400 Digital and an Dremel 8300 Lion Battery powered and I would not be without either of them. Loving the router table, I can see one of those in my very near future. Thanks for putting the time into these two reviews, very thorough. I'd feel very happy picking either of these two items up after watching this video!

    Superb review. Novel concept to only comment on features you have actually had experience with. You addressed every issue I have with the 3000 model except for the motor failure due to tread like wire breaking off clip rendering tool useless, until open heart surgery. Many good TH-cam repair videos for this problem. I currently have 3x 3000 out of commission for this reason. two were destroyed due to locking button for chuck being accidentally pressed while carving wood. Heat buildup is an inconvenience so I need at least two Dremel 3000 waiting to substitute for cool down. I recently purchased the 4300 thanks to this review. Anticipate good things. Obviously I like the Dremel tool for many reasons, why else keep replacing them. The work I do is too delicate for a chain saw but I have considered the option more than once. Thanks for your honesty and integrity,

    A great rotary tool. I bought the 4000 several years ago with a bunch of accessories, even if you aren't a craftsman, it can help a lot to fix things at the house/car, repairs that could take a lot more time or be unfeasible manually. For example repairing a door knob, custom cuts on wood/plastic/metal, removing rust from a complicated metal structure, drilling really small to medium holes. And yes with the right tool you can even froth milk, a guy posted a video doing it.

    Just to add, there's tool sets that come with this, you got the lower set which is a 3 attachment and 45 accessories. I was about to buy a 5/40 but the scam fell thru (another story...) so went around and bought a 9/64 which has one of the collets. I actually am on here, as a total noobie, wondering when I should use a collet as oppose to the chuck style but it does seem a lot of people are converting so that's good to see. Love how you're not quick to proclaim it's the best tool ever, smart.

  • @steadyeddie7453
    @steadyeddie7453 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    At 7:39 the bits are made more for drywall (sheetrock) cut outs. You could probably use them gently on wood, but you are exceeding its intended use. 2nd- The flex cable should be used at lower speeds. The metal cable inside the sheathing is always rubbing inside around its radius. And the biggest advantage ( imho) of the 4300 is that it has more power. The current rating on it is 1.8 amps vs 1.2 amps for the 3000. It will take more load for longer periods with less heat buildup. Great video, very inclusive. Cheers.

    Very helpful. I have a 3000 and I've recently bought the flex hose but I kept pressing the silver button on it by accident - I did it a couple of times but fingers crossed I won't have damaged it. I think I need to tighten the chuck a bit more as my sanding wheels kept coming out of the tool 🤦‍♀️. I'm familiar with the 3000 - but it's taking a little while to get used to the flex hose x

    I’m looking to get my first Dremel or rotary tool for general use. I don’t necessarily need portability but I won’t be using this frequently. Just wondering if getting the bigger corded model would be overkill or having the extra power just in case. I guess the accessory to price ratio is more important in my case.

    The 4300 has a chuck jaw right? So, at 9:28 when you are talking about the quick detach cutting disks and using a collet, can't you forego the collet and just use the chuck jaw on the flexible extension?

  • @_P0tat07_
    @_P0tat07_ 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’d like a 4300. I have a 3000 and it’s about dead after only 6 years or so of light use. It has no power at low speeds and at higher speeds it gets hot. Unrelated to the heat, the dremel just shuts off during use. Even if I get a 4300 I’ll still probably end up buying replacement parts and fixing it myself, just to have a second one. How is the torque at low speed on the 4300? Enough to do light sanding or is it like the 3000 where just looking at it causes it to stall?

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @_P0tat07_

      Serious Cat it does, but the brushes look fine. Maybe a small chip in the corners but that shouldn’t cause the problems I’m having.

  • @felixf5211
    @felixf5211 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Have you considered a pendant motor? I work with metal, too. Your work is beautiful, BTW. There's simply no substitute for the torque of a pendant motor and its momentum. Assuming you get a decent one, it'll have a 4-pole motor and not a 2-pole as in a handheld rotary tool. What's the difference? A 4-pole will spin at half the speed of a 2-pole, but have 4 times the torque. As a rough rule of thumb, the slower the rotational speed, the more powerful the motor. I own a number of rotary tools, including a Dremel, which literally sit in a drawer and several pendant motors. Primarily, I use a 1/3hp (continuous) Foredom TX, but less expensive pendant motors are a great start. I used a counterfeit Chinese Foredom SR for about a year and liked it a lot. It's pretty inexpensive. You may want to replace the pedal on an inexpensive pendant motor, especially if it comes with a Chinese Foredom style pedal, with one from Foredom - it can make for a night and day difference in control. Good luck.

    • @spicy110
      @spicy110  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would depend out much you want to take off as to the size of router cutter you would need. For most work tops I would imagine a proper router would be best.
      It also very much depends what the worktop is made of, the fiber filler laminated tops would round smoothly.

    I did find it pretty uncomfortable watching you run the piece "backwards" on the router table with only the workpiece between you and the bit.
    Maybe it's worth mentioning a bit more detail about the risks of a climb cut in your next update? Or maybe just link to another video you think is worthy of you don't want to go to the trouble.
    I gather it's a calculated risk for you so not trying to tell you off! Just don't want a newbie mangling themselves because they've seen others doing it without explanation 😬

    Do you find the lower rpm settings to be a little unstable?

      At first I did find this, however give the switch a good few slids back and forth and a bit of use and mine settled down.

    Here in Aus we don't get the flex shaft or the wall mount in the kit and the accessory kit is not as good

      I think this is a higher level kit and what you are referring to is the basic. I think we can get that here too but I am not 100%

    Your UK version of 4300 Dremel kit exceeds (wall mount, engraving pen with an extended shaft, etc...) the U.S. of A. version of the same 4300 kit. As of this date, there are no upgrades to the American version of the kit - it is the same as it was two years ago when I first bought the 4300. Let me warn you, the router table, the Work Station, and a few other attachments are rubbish. The 4300 rotary tool itself is wicked. I have broken many 1/8" shaft attachments. I will admit, I am hard on my tools, and sometimes, I get very impatient that contributes to the breakage of many attachments. It is ashamed that Dremel only offers the 1/8" shaft for its attachments with the 4300. I can assure you that the 4300 rotary tool is capable (incredible torque) of handling a 3/8" shaft with no trouble. I have locked horns with Dremel about this matter. No intent of a 3/8" shaft creation to market, at least, not in my lifetime.

    I have a Lidl version and it's okay for what I need it for but kinda wish they had a motor with more torque rather than a motor that can go up to 45k rpm or something silly, but you can almost stop it by pressing down with the tool

      Yer I too had that with my cheap 3rd party one, it was fine for most uses but against daily use it got time consuming. No doubt this cost a lot more but I can see where the money went.

      @@bass2261 honestly - have no clue. Just watched a number of Dremel reviews and compare these with my inexpensive one - and I like Dremel way more, including really rich family of all sorts of attachments.
      Planning to buy one. But will start with its drill press - seems to be compatible with my tool.

    I'm new to Dremels, but this thing has been great. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR The variable speed is awesome and the cordless aspect makes it so easy to work with. I am constantly finding uses for it that make tasks easier. Recently I put in a new deadbolt on one of our doors. I knew I had to enlarge the hold where the deadbolt goes into the door frame. At first I thought I would have to get a big router and figure out how to use it for that, but then I rermembered we have the dremel. I was able to enlarge the hole almost as easy as if I was drawing with a pen. It's also great for grinding our dog's nails done and so many other household tasks.

      @@spicy110 Thanks for this video review and your speedy reply. I was on the fence between the Dremel 4000 and the 4300, and your revelation that the standard collets can still be used in place of the new chuck, the LED flashlight can be removed, and your airflow demonstration and assurance of low operating temperature... have sold me. People report that the 4000 still gets quite hot, so I expect a shorter operational lifetime with that model (the 4000 is still trending on Amazon against the 4300). I was worried about the differences in the 4300 but you've abated those concerns.
