I got the dates wrong on this one, they should say Thursday 24th October and Friday 25th October. not November. That could leave me scratching my head next March 🤣 Hope you enjoy and please feel free to let me know if you would like to see more or less of anything?
As a sheep farmer I never turn my back on a ram I noticed cian in the narrow pen fixing the head lock on the gate an the ram standing directly behind him if he got a thump in the back him not being prepared could cause him serious injury
Superserious farmer has shown us the good possibilities in those aged out ewes for a farmer trying to get a start. If they are available for someone with limited funds they may still be able to produce a lamb for them and give them a start in sheep.
Great video! Have you considered ear notching ram lambs, or I put the ear tag in the right ear on ewe lambs and the left ear on ram lambs? It makes sorting much easier. Just a thought. Yes, there is such a thing as a "geep". It is possible, not common, but if the ewe does conceive then the offspring is usually stillborn. I had some of my ewes running with our does and billy and the billy bred 3 ewes (he had a marking harness). I gave them a prostaglandin injection 7 days later to abort any possible pregnancy. They all recycled (they would recycle whether bred or not).
We’ve just put our ram out. Like one of yours he wasn’t the pick of the bunch initially. He got the name Napoleon because he had boney parts. However, he had a good frame. We got him 2 months ago and his filled out well in that time. Also good to see another person mixing up riddle rather than using a crayon. Happy Tupping Time!
I was wondering about the dates myself. So thank you. Lots of work done on the farm, now it’s time for Òrlaidh build. “Happy wife happy life”. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great video today, showing the reality of problematic sheep at tipping/ram time, ram lambs breaking in, the real rams trying to kill each other and even a goat trying his luck with ewes
@sheepschool365 good for synchronisation though David ? That's my main reason , like most part-time farmers..someone said to me that ewes find it hard to come into heat naturally after sponging (the year after ) but I'd say that's not right
@michaelflannery7462 Absolutely, great for synchronisation. Trouble is ram power. Takes one ram for 8 ewes I believe. I would need 40 stock rams if all ewes sponged together.
@sheepschool365 yeah true David ,know a few local lads (also part time farmers) who do it all the time , they reckon you would get by with 12/1 . The lads usually share rams amounst each other for the lambing season so you are not having to hold a heap of rams. Younger hoggot rams also have great power
Ewes are look right for the job David 👍👍 Do you record condition score pre mating along with the weight for your data recording? It’s a credit to you going to all the trouble 👏👏
It would be a pity to send the surplus rams to the works, they all look so good. Is it too late to sell as a tup? I used to lamb my ewelambs in May to give them an extra month to grow and of course Lleyns are good on ewelambs. Ada is well on the way to becoming your right hand girl. Good job Ada. The 2yo ram that has filled out to become a great looking ram now, probably was genuinely grass fed. They always outlast the ones that were pushed.
The problem is really down to our climate. In Ireland the western half would experience more fluke problem than the eastern side simply because the rainfall is much more leading to muddier conditions & more liver fluke.
@sheepschool365 ah i see, i did a parasites course last year. In Canada, in my region, we don't see much worms although, not alot of testing is done. Once a year seems good!
Great see all.family.involved happy days some yoke.putting sheep through.like ŵay floor open drop down.know ya sheep.geting rìd midland one. What.name that. Yoke
While geeps CAN happen, all known cases have been a sheep ram over a goat doe, so you should be safe. As a side note, nearly all geep pregnancies end up aborted/stillborn/short lived, but that would be all the same for you. Still no lamb at the end. But like I said, all that I have heard of have a ram sire.

@stephensweeney2668 Thank you for pointing that out. Cian was distracted with the headstock & I was distracted with the camera..
I just love that you involve your beautiful children. A big hello from Idaho, 🇺🇸
You are so kind ☺️

Glad to see the big boy going to work David. 🤞🤞 he does the job.

Orlaith is some woman 😃
Wonderful video. Your wife is a lovely girl. Those rams look great. Cheers to your whole family.
I use long handled small paint roller to apply raddle to brisket. No mess at all.Great video as always. Diolch🏴
Just found your channel a couple of days ago its great craic 😅
Have you had problems with sheep feet this year, how did you deal with it?
Thankfully not. My sheep are pretty good on their feet. Although a wet and mucky winter will test them!
Hi lad that was a great job with your class Ram and you have class sheep 🐑 to keep up the good work with them 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great video David as always 👌
Great video
Good stuff

Thanks Neil, always a problematic time of year!
Great video David , do you ever sponge ?
Thanks Michael. Tried it a few years back with mixed results. All natural service now..

Hi David , note from your videos you have a good working dog be great if u can give some basics on how train them and insight on your sheep dog
I commented on your last video about the ram with the ewe lambs I seen at the lick buckets!!
Great video as always. I must say I think your wife is amazing and I hope that second downstairs toilet gets done soon.
Ewes are look right for the job David 👍👍

That was hilarious! "You dirty animal" i am interested to know why there is such a big problem with worms (flukes) in the U.K.? How is it managed
The problem is really down to our climate. In Ireland the western half would experience more fluke problem than the eastern side simply because the rainfall is much more leading to muddier conditions & more liver fluke.

Thats a decent ram you bought the bigger ram. Where did u get your hurdles ? Are they condon?
Yet another brilliant video David. Did I spot the red jeep of paddy Keogh coming up the lane way during the video.
David, don't suffer in silence. mensaidDOTie 🤣

if you look at previous film ram lamb can been seen .🤣
Great video. How many cycles do you keep the rams in for?
yere drivin smoke up the pipe fair play, keep at it and it'll get done.
David the raddle should go on his brisket between his two front legs not on his neck
I was wondering where did the month of November go 🚶♂️
October?
First

Your dates are all wrong
WRONG MONTH DAVE IT WAS OCTOBER NOTNOVMEBER
Its tupped not tipped tipped is something you do in a restaurant you tip the staff and the ewes get tupped muppet
Good man Brian, really depends what part of the world you're in 😉
Not much of a rams head on that fella at all! Hard to spot.
He's transitioning 😁 😂
Be late spotting him next March 🤢
Good to see the ewe school banter in the comments.
