(before protools) We had one day to record and mix 3 songs for Roadrunner. This was the notorious 1990 Demo that got CYNIC signed. www.seanreiner...

      Beginning of the '90s... I'll never forget the moment when I bought a Leprosy picture disc in a local record store. 🤗 Fast forward to now, I was fortunate to see Sean live with the DTA project a few years back. I swear, when I saw him setting up for the beginning of the show I felt like a teenager seeing his idol for the first time. 😄 Anyhow, his playing that night was impeccable. It's interesting, my fav Death drummers have always been Sean and Gene, although they are very different players. They both have an individual style and approach, and both fit Chuck's music perfectly.

    • @dylancaldwell677
      @dylancaldwell677 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sasa Petkovic I only became a Death fan once Human was released as it was on a whole new level. With Sean and Paul added from cynic their playing abilities made Death a powerful force. Once they lost Sean I think they lost a huge part of their sound and balance as a band. Always thought Sean is/was a way better player and written then Gene. As Gene is held in such praise I don't think he comes close to Sean.

    • @SasaPetkovic_Bubnjar_Drummer
      @SasaPetkovic_Bubnjar_Drummer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You know what they say: can't argue taste - in politics and music especially. :) To me, both are extremely proficient technically, but with a different approach to music and what they add to it. From the drumming perspective, IMHO of course, Human is more emotional, while ITP and Symbolic are more aggresive. Gene is an excellent player too, make no mistake. You know Chuck only picked the finest musicians available in that genre at the time.

    • @Leo-yn5fx
      @Leo-yn5fx 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sasa Petkovic Gene doesn’t come close to how good sean is. Its why Human was so damn good. The drums were just as musical as every other instrument and thats sean’s approach. Genes being technical for the sake of being technical and being as fast he could be.

  • @deller79
    @deller79 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Absolute LEGEND R.I.P Sean. Single handily changed metal drumming forever. Cant be overstated the effect he had on every up and coming drummer at that time. Everyone wanted to the do the Lombardo double bass and fast fills which are class. Dave changed the genre himself but when Human came out everyone was like wtf!!??Most of us didn’t know it was possible to add those grooves and pattern’s to that kind of music. His influence will never be forgotten. Im a nobody but he made me a better drummer and changed my whole outlook on what was possible. Being a kid from a nowhere ass town in the back end of Ireland and hearing this just blew my mind.?Thank you Sean, Chuck R.I.P, Paul and Steve and I have to mention Malone as well R.I.P. Although not a part of Death he no doubt had an influence on Sean’s playing. Thank you for the music guys 🤘🤘🤘✌️✌️✌️

      The problem with today's death metal is every band sounds like every other band. They all do the 300+ bpm double bass drum with 300+bpm blast beats and that's fine for a song or 2 but its every song and every band doing this so its like listening to the same song over and over and it gets so boring after awhile. Bands in their quest for speed have forgotten about the music and writing a good song. The 80s and 90s thrash metal and death metal was so much better than todays metal.

    🤘 Legendary, RIP SR. Neil Peart Reed Mullin and Sean Reinhart..... three big f****** Heroes of mine. I can't believe they're gone. Heartbreaking I got to see. Corrosion Conformity/ Rollins band in 1991. I was in ninth grade.. Sim Cain and Reed Mullin in the freakin house, Holy s***, they were both on fire that night. One of the greatest shows I've ever been to. Blue me oway.. And this was during to incredible albums/ blind and end the silence. Rollins band was the headliners. Corrosion of Conformity did half the tour with Rollins band and Tool did the other half. Didn't get to see tool but at the time Corrosion Conformity was my favorite band. Especially after the blind album came out.. another drummer treat was seeing rush and Primus, At the U N O Lakefront Arena in early 1993. Tim Alexander and Neil Peart in the same building.....what! Out of this world. Www we can't lose any more drummers. The s*** always happens in threes. No more, I can't take this. I feel like I ve been kicked in the gut by a horse. Mullin/peart/Reinhart...much respect🤘

    When Cynic was technical death metal: how awesome is that? This is so ahead of it`s time. It`s a pitty to see that after 25 years no band came close to the sound of "Focus".....Beneath the remains came close to reign in blood but Focus? I still have to see it....

    • @tho4life611
      @tho4life611 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      there are a good handful of bands that expanded on that style

    • @PropheciesForetold
      @PropheciesForetold 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Like who? I already know Alarum, Exivious and the other tech death bands like Beyond Creation, Obscura, Virvum, Fallujah....Still NONE of them came close imo to "Focus", where the combination of DM, jazz, fusion and prog came as natural.
      I'm really interested to hear the bands you say that expanded on that style...

      PropheciesForetold
      cynic has a very unique style and there will never be an exact replica. but I think its fair to say that the bands you mentioned are similar and expanded on that style. exivious probably being the best... their demo literally sounds just like focus.
