    I bought a used nickel 200DS like this one a few years ago and it took a lot of work to make it work. Light strikes 90% of the time, side plate screw was stripped and stuck, and the internal threads for the grip screw were badly damaged. Whoever owned it before was an idiot. Chiappa wouldn't help me at all, but my old man is a gunsmith with 40+ years of experience and he repaired all the issues and tuned it up for me. Works 100% reliably now. Thanks dad. It's very accurate and the recoil impulse is very easy even with hot 125 grain .357. Love it.

    This is my EDC for years now, I own many top notch revolvers but i still carry this with running 1000s of rounds through it with zero issues.
    Also the design absolutely works as intended, .357 feel like .38s coming out.

    I have the 40D 4" barrel and wow, what a nice revolver! I was a competition revolver shooter back in the 80's and 90's and the S&W 686 was the gun to have. I still love them, but I have to say that the Rhino is my new favorite. It is very accurate, and let's talk about fast reloads. The old speedloaders were and still are great, but the moon clips that come with the firearm are outstanding and they load faster than the usual speedloader. This is an innovative and well thought out revolver! Thanks for the great review!

    Thanks for a thorough review, of the Chiappa Rhino 200DS! I really want check out one of these guns, in person, to see if it would suit my daily carry routine well. This video certainly has motivated me to act on this, in that I'm gonna begin to build a new budget plan, so that I can make this a reality.

    I've had mine for years, love it, at the moment, I had to send it back because of light primer strikes and just to get things polished up, other than that, it's very reliable, very accurate, and I love to carry it plus I have the 30 DS that I carry too.

    Watching Covert Affairs or any police/ cop /secret agent show, when handguns are present, they blur of parade of generic revolvers or semi-automatic pistols; meaning seeing one, I saw them all.
    However, in a few episodes (starting season 3 episode 8) agent Annie Walker pulls out a snubby Klingon looking thing with a low rider barrel that made me sit up and take notice!
    Well, I was not alone in wondering what that was as it seems it was a common question as per one site:
    Q: "What kind of gun does Annie Walker carry on Covert Affairs?"
    A: "In the TV show, Covert Affairs, Annie Walker is seen using a wide variety of guns. The most popular gun people are searching for is the Chiappa Firearms Chiappa Rhino 20DS"
    The gun is so ugly, its BEAUTIFUL, I have not bought a firearm in decades, but THIS one has me seriously thinking about a purchase and the range is a few blocks away...

      Sorry to reply so late but to answer your question, the Chiappa Rhino 200ds is lighter than the LCR and between the two....I would have to pick the 30ds.... but I wouldn't give up either one.

    I heard the Rhino design has less muzzle flip and subjectively less perceived recoil because of the barrel location. Is this true ?

    • @archimagirus_sancti
      @archimagirus_sancti ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes. It's actually kind of miraculous when you shoot one the first time

  • @chaseme9860
    @chaseme9860 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    A 2" revolver is an up close and dirty, get off me gun. The Rhino does not lend its self to this application, because there is no reason to have a flatter shooting gun at distances that won't require it. The Rhino's design excels in the longer barrel applications where short splits and longer distances converge.

    • @onastick2411
      @onastick2411 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      But as there's no disadvantage to using it over a normal revolver, so what?

    • @chaseme9860
      @chaseme9860 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@onastick2411 The disadvantage is carrying a huge bulky gun with only a 2" barrel, when you can carry a much smaller gun with a 2" barrel....lol. Not to mention the known issue of thumb burn. There is nothing to gain, only loss....Thats what.

    • @jhonayo4887
      @jhonayo4887 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@killerkraut9179 not all. But overall the bullet is smaller and if you make it to only fire .38 you can manage to make the gun smaller considering that a lighter load doesn't need as much heft to compensate for the recoil. Heck a 22lr version would be awesome too. This is probably the coolest looking revolver ive seen. Could easily fit in a scifi setting.

  • @PaulChristianJenkinsJD

    It makes a person question why there aren't more revolvers configured with a lower cylinder and barrel? It seems almost natural to have the recoil into the palm instead of flipping up.

    • @ViktorSv-fc1gf
      @ViktorSv-fc1gf 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The revolvers are generally purchased for the large calibers. However Rhino is very unpleasant to shoot with anything bigger than .38 special. It will hurt hand a lot since the recoil goes straight to the palm and joints. With that said, other makers do not produce such revolvers not because they do not know how, rather because this design is not practical.

    • @grahamohea2424
      @grahamohea2424 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The closest you will get is the Mateba, but to be perfectly honest, the Rhino is a clone of the Mateba, not the other way around. My guess is that you are asking because you would want something like the Rhino but less expensive. There is no such beast out on the market right now (the Mateba will be considerably more expensive than the Rhino)

  • @redequal7457
    @redequal7457 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I believe you to not be honest: you don't mention the fact that the Chiappa gun can burn a thumb. I have seen gun reviewers burn a hole right through their gloves when shooting this gun. In other words, this gun can be somewhat dangerous. I can imagine people defending themselves with this gun but dropping it when they burn their finger.
