    • @rosesanchez1252
      @rosesanchez1252 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      There are a few ways i see this.
      There are literal organisms on our planet earth that are actual made up of tiny smaller animals/orgnaisms such as man-o-Wars.
      Then therr is another argument... pokemon have always been monsters. While they have been a stand in for animals and the majority take inspiration from animals...they are still monsters, supernatural entities that exist. There are examples in myth and folklore and legends of creatures that are only powerful when they work together or are simply more powerful when they do.
      So we can borrow a few concepts here from other fiction to explain this.
      1) these pokemon can have a hivemind...this imo makes more sense for stuff like magneton but it can work.. especially if the indviduals can retain some indviduality but have a shared sort of processing power. The way cerebus is handled in media(especially the game Hades) vome to mind. Cerebus is one creature but each head still has its own personality and prefrences.(only one head likes to be pet)
      2) the pokemon can only achieve the power needed to use moves if they are near each other/work together. Falinks and Maushold come to mind here. And example that we can draw from myth here is hags or witches. This isnt a perfect metaphor but does kind of work. Hags and witches while often having their own power(how much depends on the media) have a common trope of being more powerful when three are around. And in dnd games hags specifically often have powers that are much higher level than the indvidual hags but requires teamwork from the other hags.
      The biggest explanation for as to why a pokeball would allow both creatures is that a pokeball in universe is probably tuned to where the focus/nexus of infinity energy is. If there is only enough infinity energy in each creature when they are together than the ball probably registers to both or something.

    • @andresmarrero8666
      @andresmarrero8666 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Exeggcute, Magneton, and Calyrex
      I can fully believe and explain but the rest I struggle as to how the pokeball registers them as a single individual.

    • @rosesanchez1252
      @rosesanchez1252 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andresmarrero8666 My best guess is that it doesn't. If it lets say tracked infinity energy it could be that the infinity energy is split amongst them or there is only enough for a pokeball to register when they are near each other. I get though if that logic still doesnt work for people though.

    Bramblin's probably my favorite new Pokemon this generation.
    I find them rolling about really charming and I really like some of their animations where they roll, but the eyes stay stationary. The seeds as eyes are kind of clever as well, being explained by their ghostly nature.
    But mostly I think it uses the Grass/Ghost type well since a rolling tumbleweed is literally a dead part of a plant, sort of alike a wandering spirit. I also find their windy cry particularly charming.
    The design may be simple, with the seed eyes being the only real unique aspect in the design. But I don't think it doesn't work. All of the other little charms it has, elevates it to the top for me, this generation.

    I was venting to a friend about how bad gen 9 has made me feel, and one of the things I mentioned was Flamigo, even bringing up Seel as a comparison (only to justify Seel by saying that gen 1 was still testing the waters, whereas now it's been well established what does or does not make for a good pokemon design).
    I also hate the Varoom line, but solely because I hate man-made objects as pokemon. At least the ghost type man-made objects can be justified as a ghost literally possessing a doll (Shuppet line, which I actually love to death), but Varoom/Revavroom are just car engines. I guess we've seen literal man-made pokemon before in Genesect and Magearna, but the car engines' dex entries say nothing about them being artificially created. Gamefreak wants me to believe that these things occur naturally in the wild? I think not.
    I'm not so thrilled about the Tinkatink line either, but mainly because they look less like pokemon and more like the inhabitants of some random world in Spyro. Exact same critique about Gimmighoul, but Gimmighoul isn't a random Spyro character, it's the inhabitants of Hurricos (a world from the first homeland of Spyro 2 Ripto's Rage). The reveal trailer of Gimmighoul left me thinking, "Oh.... this just feels like mild plagiarism here."
    Another thing, I noticed that this gen has A LOT of birds and dogs, but not just the new ones. It even seems like they brought in every previous dog/bird, which ultimately makes the balance/diversity in the roster feel very lacking.
    My biggest complaint about gen 9 pokemon though, is Quaxley's final evolution. That thing is so hideous and disgusting to me. I'm very much on the hate train for the oversaturation of humanoid starters, and I think the explicit reason why they didn't reveal the final starters prior to release was purely to not lose any sales. I genuinely believe that's the reason for no starter reveal this generation. At least Sprigattito's evolution isn't ugly, but it's still yet another furry.

    I’m not a fan of Tinkaton, however I did enjoy the pokedex entries because they seem to be quite the Ahole personality haha. I wish they did change the wielder of the hammer more between each stage, but alas, we can’t all be as cool as Squirtle :D

    For me, the biggest problem with Bramblin was they decided to give it an evolution that looks basically the same. The evolution gimmick makes sense for a tumbleweed, but I would have found a tumbleweed Pokémon much more forgivable as a single stage.
    I love Mabosstiff though. Because of its role in the story, but also because I would want one in real life.

    I actually kinda enjoyed dudunsparse. I feel like if dunsparce had an evolution in gen 2 that's how it would've looked. I honestly liked the tumbleweeds first form but hoped it wouldn't just become a bigger uglier tumbleweed. Unfortunately it did. I love how it's eyes are so creepy and turn around and look at you in battle.

      Yeah the whole point of Dunsparce and the mythical creature it is based on is a joke. People thought they were some powerful creature but it was just a snake that swallowed a really big round thing. It's not supposed to evolve to be strong, it should be just more stupid.

  • @rosesanchez1252
    @rosesanchez1252 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I disagree with like the majority of list. The one I can sort of agree with is that The Pawmi line could have been a two stage line.
    Bombadier throws the rocks by letting go of the flap of feathers/skin it holds in its mouth. Literally bombarding the enemy.
    Tinkaton i feel like there is enough visual difference between the three stages both the pokemon and its hammer.first one is a baby with a rattle, the second one is a young girl, and its a sort of crude hammer, and third stage is older in apperance(but still youthful) and has a very complex hammer. It's cutesy nature mixed with its mischevious dex entries made it one of my top favorites.
    Revaroom, i think is a fun design. It doesnt seem any less fitting then magneton or the voltorb line one improvement i would have done is embrace the team star aspect of it, maybe it can have an item or place in fame qhere you could have it be decaled and change one of its typings based on it. I dont think the design *needs* that but it could have been fun.
    The three different tauros i like. Them being different colors or had a few more difference. But i also get wanting a visual cohesion between the two. I do think more could be done with it but i dont hate it. Having the water and fire be diverging evolutions could have been interesting i would admit. These are the most likely to agree with besides the pawmi line.
    Maushold and Dundunsparce, is well. I beleive a design can be simple, it can be goofy if it does what it is doing well. Maushold is a very simple design and is evocative of very sinplistic stuffed animals, especially older ones. If you look carefully therr are stitches in various places, the two main ones look like the have faint shirt and pants designs, in place in a way one might evoke by sinple changing thr pattern of fabrix on the stuffed animal. So they are a family of stuffed animal mice. A simistic design where i think the charm is them together. Seperating and saying its on its own is boring is like well removing voltorb eyes or charizards wings and saying doesnt that look weird or bad?
    Dundunsparce...im sympaththic if people dont like it. If you wanted a "cooler" or "more serious" design, i can sympathize with it and no one has to like anything. But for me dundunsparce is a play on the word redundant which i think is a fun visual pun growing off the name of the original. The fact that it is a much larger version of the original in my mind is fine. It looks comfortable to snuggle up next to. And idk its goofy and i love it.
    Flamigo, i like how uncanny it looks, from some angles it looks very fake . Like a plastic lawn flamingo but sometimes it looks like a real if slightly stylizied animal. I think the mininal design and that slight uncertainty of "is that an object or a creature" is fun. Its by no meansmy favorite but i appreciate the charm.
    The new bisharp evo for me... i dont like personally, it looks too busy and top heavy. A lot bulkier than the sleek design of bisharp. But i get and appreciate the lore and I can see how someone else likes it. It would be on the top of my least like designs but i dont think i could hate it. It has its place.

      Also if you look at Flamigo from the side it looks like a boxing glove. With the wing making the thumb. Kingambits walk animation is so funny and when you talk to it in picnic it flares it’s hair up into spikes and his move Kowtow Cleave he bows and slashes with its head.

    I enjoy the fire breed and the water breed paldean tauros. Although, I think the color could've been done better, since it kind of just looks like a black and white copy of a copy of a colored picture. I like the idea of the water breed tauros (I'm using one on my team currently) different enough to a kantonian tauros. But the mono-fighting type tauros feels like it's just there to fill in space in the herds since the water and fire breeds are less common

    For pokemon that barely change upon evolving to their middle or final, we've had them before so doesn't bother me. Gen one being the first, is the worse for it.
    Middle stages:
    Nidoran to Nidorina - Gets bigger, and stands up
    Nidoran to Nidorino - Gets bigger, and longer spikes
    Starly to Staravia - Taller with longer hair
    Sandile to Krokorok - Bigger and Stands up
    Deino to Zweilous - Bigger, additional head and 'wings'
    Fletchling to Fletchinder - Bigger, wings changed colour
    Final stages:
    Pidgeotto to Pidgeot - Gets bigger and has longer crest
    Dilett to Dugtrio - Just adds 2 more diglet
    Mankey to Primape - Bigger and angrier
    Poliwhirl to Poliwrath - Bigger and angrier
    Kadabra to Alakazam - Cut off its tail
    Ponyta to Rapidash - Got taller and a horn
    Slowpoke to Slowbro - Stands up with a shell on its tail
    Grimer to Muk - Bigger sludge
    Krabby to Kingler - Bigger with more horns
    Swablu to Altaria - Bigger and wraps its wings around itself
    Vanillish to Vanilluxe - another ice-cream scoop
    Type: Null to Silvally - Removed its helmet
    Nickit to Thievul - Bigger and has a moustache

  • @SilverSoldier25
    @SilverSoldier25 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The Tinkaton line absolutely changes between evolutions. That seems like a weird complaint for this one. Also I assume Bomberdier just drops the flap that is filled with rocks so I'm not certain about that one either. Like you really think it's throws rocks physically?
    Everything else I would agree with. Mabosstiff is fine imo but definitely the weakest of the new dog designs and Revaroom is a better version of what I was hoping for with Charcoal but there could have been more there. I will defend the Seal comparison briefly though because I think comparing it to Flamigo is a disservice to Seal.
    Seal is just a seal. However, it has the horn, the tongue, and it's curved tail. If you took just it's silhouette you'd know it as Seal from Pokemon and not an irl seal. Flamigo has nothing that differentiates from just a flamingo. It such a lazy design and despite this not being the first time Pokemon has done simplistic designs, it is so simplistic it might as well be nothing.
    Also personally I'd put Palafin on here and the new Pseudo-line. Palafin is kind of funny but my god is it hideous. First dolphin-mon and this is what they decided to go with? It so bizarre and seems lost in a theme that doesn't fit imo.
    As for the Pseudo-line here, it's another example personally of just lazy design. It's straight up just Godzilla if it had less detail and only one spine. It looks like something a five year old drew. So disappointing for the first Ice-Dragon type since Kyurem.

    One group of Pokémon that I'm not really in love with their designs is the Futuristic Pokémon, with one exception. They look a bit too robotic for me.
    I get where they were going, but Miraidon still looks like it's a living being, and you can see how we could go from Koraidon to Cyclizard to Miraidon through Darwinian Evolution. But everybody else, they got through a machine.

    The thing about Dunsparce is the that I don’t think it was ever supposed to be anything more and I have no idea why fans built up so much of a grandiose image of what just wasn’t there.
