Hi Zeynap, I’m sitting my SBL exam in March. Sadly I failed the first time around. Do you happen to have the summary notes you’ve made for the SBL? Is this something you can send me please as I’m really struggling
Hi Asma! I don't keep my notes after I'm done with the exams, they create paper clutter imo. However the point is the act of writing itself, not having the notes. Hi Adnan. That is tough, I feel for you. I would rather do mocks than studying the textbook in your case and pay to get them marked by a professional who would provide feedback if possible. It is money well spent if you can afford it. I don't like doing mocks and getting them marked and acting on feedback is hard but it is really worth it.
Merhaba Zeynep hanım Bende acca sertifikasını almak istiyorum mali müşavir olduğum için 2 zorunlu ve 1 seçmeli dersten sorumluyum. Siz Belgeyi aldınız mı? Kurs önerileriniz var mı? Hey Naz! Mock exam is any 4 hour long exam that is prepared in a similar structure and level to the original exam so that you gain exam experience before the exam. You can use specimens and even past exams as mocks. But there are also use mock exams prepared by approved learning providers. For example there are mock exams in bpp practice & revision kit. Some providers (skans, learn signal, etc.) even provide marking services with their mock exams so you can get feedback on your answers. I hope that helps!
Hi , I want to ask did you practice Kaplan and bpp kit questions? And you preferred which of the two answers and followed which kit's answer style? I am going to appear in sbl and confused about which kit to complete and use as a guide Hope you help me 🥺
Hi Zeynep, Which technical article is useful for upcoming SBL exam. How I can choose which would be useful from the list of Articles available in ACCA site. Do a student need to cover all for SBL exam?
Hello Zeynep! I really find your videos useful. I am planning to attempt SBL this december and I wanted to do a self-study. Can you help me with the materials and resources you referred and how you planned your studies?
I took a short face to face class (3 or 4 weekends) for SBL but most of it was online/self-study. I used BPP kit+ACCA free resources: www.accaglobal.com/ie/en/student/exam-support-resources/professional-exams-study-resources/strategic-business-leader.html If I didn't have face to face classes I would use opentuition (as I did for AAA) and watch all SBL videos. I also think it is even more important to understand the marker's approach when you're self-studying: www.accaglobal.com/an/en/student/exam-support-resources/professional-exams-study-resources/strategic-business-leader/exam-technique.html Planning really depends on you and your circumstances. I was working full time when I was preparing for SBL so I had limited time and I tried to make the most of by prioritizing question practice.
professional level acca papers are challenging. I took them one by one but I guess it will be even more important to prioritize if you take two at the same time.
Hi Zeynep. I attempted SBL in Sept 2020 for the first time. I found the exam really tough as the questions and layout were different. I obtained 49% and was really frustrated. I applied for admin review but they confirmed i was correctly marked at 49%. Now, i am going to resit this paper. It would be nice if you could give me some advice so that i can pass successfully 2nd time around hopefully?
Hi Aamer. I'm sorry that you got 49%, it must be disappointing. In addition to question practice and doing mocks I would say get familiar with practice platform if you haven't already and cover the free ACCA content to understand what can bring you 50 marks this time: technical articles, examiner reports, professional skills videos, read the mind of a SBL marker: www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-support-resources/professional-exams-study-resources/strategic-business-leader.html and if you haven't yet, I would complete the EPSM module before I resit the exam. It could increase your chances of passing SBL.
Hey Zeynep, I’m doing the SBL exam in June and I just started learning this week, which study text would you advise me to use, BPP or Kaplan and any advice you would give me.
I used BPP for SBL. I don't know much about Kaplan. The more question practice the better and don't underestimate ACCA's free prepare to pass webinars+past exam practice.

But I easily passed AAA and ATX by self study.
Hi Alex. Did you mark them yourself or got them marked by a pro? Their feedback can be really helpful and I would consider that if you have means to afford a pro marking service.
Hey Zeynep thanks for the valuable knowledge you shared, I have already being exempted from F1 to F9 and i am planning to write SBL and AFM in DEc 2020.Any suggestions for me to proceed as I am not having appropriate knowledge the depth of F1 to F9 as its being rewarded depending on my qualification. It would be great if you share your views on the same.
Hi Rijo. I was also exempt from F papers and SBL was my first exam and I think it is a good exam to get started since it is different from other exams anyway. I would say it would be ambitious for me to take two professional exams at first attempt but I can't really study for long hours so I might not be the best example. I would start with planning if I were taking two exams. Consider all the resources you have and if you want to cover all of them: opentuition videos, workbook, kit, free ACCA resources (past papers, prepare to pass webinars, technical articles etc), EPSM if you want to do it before SBL, the CBE practice platform and how many mocks you want to do. I prioritize prepare to pass webinars and past papers but it all depends on what works for you. I would also get a marking service if I can afford for the questions and mocks I have attempted.
Hi , I often procrastinate doing CBE longform questions for FR & AA exams i'm going to give in december. Often the excuse I find is that my studies are not enough i need to finish the study text or that i need to listne to more lectures....
I see you. many of us don't feel like we have studied enough when we need to start question practice. and you need to know the subject, the question practice does not replace that knowledge. however, it helps to understand better. so if you have covered the subject already but feel like you don't know enough, instead of reading or listening again, I would do the question, and then go back to the book to read the parts that I had a hard time with while writing my answer. you have to integrate the question practice to your studies so do not wait until the end to start doing questions.
It's really astonishing for me people with 9 papers exemption passing SBL paper and scoring over 50 My first doubt is time management, ACCA is a tough exam, people with no experience from earlier studies how come they manage the time so well? Because people who sat for exams for more than 10times, relatively going to have more experience isn't it? Kinda confusing to me, I really don't want to comment anything on this but if you scored 80 at the first attempt you are probably way too fortunate
I think taking F papers would be much helpful for other professional exams like SBR and AAA because it is easier to build on the foundations from F papers but I think SBL requires it's own set of skills and experience. I didn't take F papers but I wouldn't also compare the time management skills SBL requires to SBR for example. I would say someone who does mocks and starts timing herself early on in her studies would have a better chance at managing her time better in SBL than those who don't, even if she was exempt from F papers.
Hello Miss, may I ask since bpp revision kits contents is made up of the extracts of all past year papers, do I need to study the real past year papers anymore ?
Hello. I used to try doing recent past papers in one sitting. I like the idea of creating an exam like environment, printing out the questions and timing myself. However no more print outs or taking notes on paper, CBE changes things! And for that reason I find the actual testing/practicing CBE platform to be a priority now if this is your first CBE exam.
@@ZeynepMercan Oh I see Miss, I think I will print it out too since I am the candidate from Malaysia and now haven't launch the CBE. However, thank you for your sharing! I guess I also need mock myself often to get used with the timing issues

Hi Riza. I'm not taking any more papers. I did the old EPSM & wanted to experience the new one too so I registered for it and it's the only thing standing between me and affiliate status. Which paper(s) are you interested in?
I am retaking SBL after one year Kindly guide how you prepare for exams whether you read book then started kit. How did you manage the whole syllabus. I am confused where to start and whether you practice the case study or small practice question and did you follow the kit pattern
I do practice questions after a quick read to get used to question practice and I build up from there to attempt exam style questions/cases before I'm ready. I don't try to understand everything by reading because it would take forever for me. So I read to have a very general idea of what I'm trying to learn. This may or may not suit you but I found out that I don't learn unless I attempt questions. In my opinion if I don't do badly at the beginning of question practice I started too late. I push myself to write something (which usually is a bad answer at first) and after that when I read the answer from the kit I learn much more easier than reading a chapter. It's the application (both my attempt to apply knowledge by answering and the correct application in the book answer) that makes the difference.
Hello, I am a full time student I wrote sbr and AA IN SEPTEMBER but I only passed AA .I plan on writing sbr and adv. FM in December do you think there is enough time to do this?
It really depends on you but I guess it will be a lot of work and would require a great deal of ambition and determination. And for sure it won't be easy. I didn't take AFM but from what I know: AFM is a tough one and has a lot of material. I don't think I would have the heart to try but everyone has a different background and skill set. It also depends on how fast you learn, how much time you have to study each day, whether you can complete study sessions without getting distracted etc. Anyway, I know that is not what you want to hear but it is the only right answer: only you can know.
Hi Zeynep, i will be sitting SBL exam please could you explain how much we would need to write in order to obtain the 2 mark per point. Point and explanation get me the 2 marks? if so can you please give an example. Thank you
Hi, I don't know about the length and for what could get you two marks I suggest you check out the "read the mind of an SBL marker" pdf as it will depend on other things: www.accaglobal.com/an/en/student/exam-support-resources/professional-exams-study-resources/strategic-business-leader/exam-technique.html
Hi zeynep. TQ for the video. i am currently will be sitting sept20 exam. i have less than 2 weeks to study. how is ur study plan when the exam is around the corner? pls share, tqvm :)
It depends on your previous studies but I go through past exams and make some question practice. That way I see what I can and can't do and concentrate on quickly revising the parts I have a hard time with.
Hi. I did P1 and SBL with a full time job. I tried to cram P1 in a very short time which of course didn't work out. I think it would be 3-3.5 months for both exams combined. I think 3 months is a good time even with a full time job if you can study a little on the weekdays and study for longer hours on the weekends. It is hard to keep up with that but possible. I think it is not about how long you work on a single day but not to skip days if you can help it.
I didn't take APM exam and just took AAA this Monday so let's see how that goes first when the results are out in January. But it always comes down to same basic things: do question practice, study past exams, get familiar with the marking scheme, do mocks and especially for AAA read technical articles. Best of luck with the exams if you have any left this week!
It depends on your background, especially work experience if you have any, and your interests. For example, you're going to be more comfortable with AAA if you have audit experience and even if you don't have audit experience if you plan to pursue a career in audit you're more willing to be study it. Also consider your previous exams. If you had an easy pass in SBR, AAA might be a good idea. But in my opinion the best thing for the long-term is to pick a paper in a subject that interests you and you hope to use in your future career. Otherwise it will get boring quickly and studying is not the most entertaining thing to start with.
Hello! Will the Open Tuition notes + lecture videos, technical articles, past papers and Kaplan revision kit be enough to pass the SBL exam? I just started studying and I'm very nervous already.
Hi there! I think that is enough resources if you have enough time study, do enough question practice. you can always add more if you need to but consider whether you need support (lectures/marking services/student groups online etc) by checking on your progress and wellbeing. also don't forget to do mock exams, they can help more than you think.

Hi Adnan. That is tough, I feel for you. I would rather do mocks than studying the textbook in your case and pay to get them marked by a professional who would provide feedback if possible. It is money well spent if you can afford it. I don't like doing mocks and getting them marked and acting on feedback is hard but it is really worth it.
Zeynep hanım merhabalar. Sizinle iletişime geçebileceğim bir mail adresi ya da herhangi bir iletişim kanalı var mı acaba ?
hocam merhaba. sormak istediğim bir konu var.
Can you please explain what a good SBL answer would be like? Point, example from scenario and explanation do the job?
Hey Zeynep. Thank you for the helpful video. Would you still happen to have the summarised notes? 😊

Hi, do you have for 2019 or latest exam debrief webinar?
This may be a really silly question but what is the difference between the mock exams and the specimen exams?
2nd potion of my question is about how to manage time in sbl exam and exam technique
Hi , I want to ask did you practice Kaplan and bpp kit questions?
And you preferred which of the two answers and followed which kit's answer style?
I am going to appear in sbl and confused about which kit to complete and use as a guide
Hope you help me 🥺
I always used BPP both as a student and as a SBL trainer but now you have ACCA's study hub for free so I suggest using that
Congratulations
Thank you!
Hi Zeynep,
Which technical article is useful for upcoming SBL exam. How I can choose which would be useful from the list of Articles available in ACCA site.
Do a student need to cover all for SBL exam?
cover as many as you can. you never know what they will ask in the exam.
I was working full time when I was preparing for SBL so I had limited time and I tried to make the most of by prioritizing question practice.
have trouble in linking the answers to the case study
so helpful, thanks a lot
I have exam in September... F7 paper...how to manage time
Lots of question practice + start timing yourself early on.
I have enough precise material to prepare but confused how to tackle it along with p7
professional level acca papers are challenging. I took them one by one but I guess it will be even more important to prioritize if you take two at the same time.

I have big problem to understand sbl 😢 how can you help me please
In addition to question practice and doing mocks I would say get familiar with practice platform if you haven't already and cover the free ACCA content to understand what can bring you 50 marks this time: technical articles, examiner reports, professional skills videos, read the mind of a SBL marker: www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/exam-support-resources/professional-exams-study-resources/strategic-business-leader.html
and if you haven't yet, I would complete the EPSM module before I resit the exam. It could increase your chances of passing SBL.
Which webinars???
Hey Zeynep, I’m doing the SBL exam in June and I just started learning this week, which study text would you advise me to use, BPP or Kaplan and any advice you would give me.
I used BPP for SBL. I don't know much about Kaplan. The more question practice the better and don't underestimate ACCA's free prepare to pass webinars+past exam practice.
Hello Friend,
Actually I got 9 Exemptions from ACCA Paper.
I am writing my SBL Exam in this December. I have read the theory part of entire kaplan text book.
But while doing question now , I am not able to understand what to write.
Is there any format to write the answer if the question asked for Report, memorandum, Email, etc.
Please suggest for SBL.
Hello! This is a good & quick read to understand how to write a memo, letter, press statement etc: www.accaglobal.com/russia/en/student/sa/study-skills/professional-marks.html

Hello, if you could please send me the notes as well I would very much appreciate - shivani.diha@gmail.com
First attempt in Jun 2019 by full lecture: 38
Second attempt Sep 2019 self study lecture notes: 44
3rd attempt: changed strategy: study BBP and did all past year Qs, 5 mock in exam conditions, marking compare with examiner answers, studied all supporting resources: 29.
But I easily passed AAA and ATX by self study.
How would you approach aaa to study and practice
Hi Alex. Did you mark them yourself or got them marked by a pro? Their feedback can be really helpful and I would consider that if you have means to afford a pro marking service.
@@ZeynepMercan ok thanks. By the way, I was marked with examiner report suggested answers Marking Scheme
@@priyangaannadurai7317 I met amazing lecturer Sheila William (Malaysia Indian) and used her notes can get u success in AAA easily.
@@priyangaannadurai7317 Hi Priyanga. I feel I got lucky with AAA because of my work experience. Other than I mostly used open tuition.
Hello Rijo.. can you tell me what was your qualifications that you got exempted from F1 -F9?
@@macalinbaadiye8083 Hi Macalin, thank you for the update, I am a chartered accountants from india that is why i got exempted from first nine papers
Rijo Cherian thank you.. very much appreciated.
@@macalinbaadiye8083 Thank you for kind appreciation and guidance....
It's really astonishing for me people with 9 papers exemption passing SBL paper and scoring over 50
My first doubt is time management, ACCA is a tough exam, people with no experience from earlier studies how come they manage the time so well?

Hi, I failed SBL at 41, I didn’t do kit or mock papers, but I read the answers, what should I do
reading answers only works after you write your own answer. do question practice to time and mocks.
Excellent exam tips! Couldn’t agree with you more... Please make one video for SBR as well :)
Thank you Hana! My SBR experience was more of a struggle but I'll see how I can share it :)
Hi Zeynep, i will be sitting SBL exam please could you explain how much we would need to write in order to obtain the 2 mark per point. Point and explanation get me the 2 marks? if so can you please give an example. Thank you

Hello Ms, how long did u prepare for P1 and then SBL exam combined? Are u doing the professional papers with a full time job?
Thank you.
Hi which exam kit u used ?

GOT 39 IN DEC 2019 :(
I got 38 from p1 before passing SBL. Failing is a part of the process sometimes, it's hard but it's ok & normal.
Thak you, helpful!
Can you do video on AAA and APM
I didn't take APM exam and just took AAA this Monday so let's see how that goes first when the results are out in January. But it always comes down to same basic things: do question practice, study past exams, get familiar with the marking scheme, do mocks and especially for AAA read technical articles. Best of luck with the exams if you have any left this week!
@@ZeynepMercan can you tell me how to select the best optional papers ?
It depends on your background, especially work experience if you have any, and your interests. For example, you're going to be more comfortable with AAA if you have audit experience and even if you don't have audit experience if you plan to pursue a career in audit you're more willing to be study it. Also consider your previous exams. If you had an easy pass in SBR, AAA might be a good idea. But in my opinion the best thing for the long-term is to pick a paper in a subject that interests you and you hope to use in your future career. Otherwise it will get boring quickly and studying is not the most entertaining thing to start with.
I got 78 last year.
i got 72 in Sept'19
Congratulations, it's a very good mark!
