    Acca sınavlarına hazırlanmam için öncü olan video bu oldu :) teşekkürler ve sonraki sınavlarınızda başarılar dilerim. Bir sorum olacak, ben ilk etapta SBL için geçmiş videoları izleyerek çalışmayı düşünüyorum ve mümkünse biraz özet notlar araştırıyorum internette. Geçmiş tarihli olması videoların güncelliği açısından sorun oluşturur mu ? Teşekkürler

    Zeynep - thank you so much for your advice and tips. They are very beneficial. You also explain things very well and make a good tutor.
    I am taking sbl in March 20. So far, I have listened to all the lectures on opentuition. I have a basic grasp of the topics, but haven't memorised the medels and theory in detail. Since there are 40 chapters/topics and so much content, trying to learn everything seems daunting.
    My question is: should I concentrate on going through my notes and memorising all the theory/models before starting question papers... or should I just skip this and start doing question papers now (and learn as I go along)?
    Any advice you can give will be much appreciated. Thanks again

    • @ZeynepMercan
      @ZeynepMercan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! I agree there's so much content but there's also enough time until March. 2 months is a good time to complete your studies. I would do a combination. I would keep reading in January but also start question practice. Read a model and solve at least one question about it right after, before you read about another one. If you are having a hard time with a particular model, try to do more questions on that model. It doesn't have to be an exam style question at first but I would increase the intensity and number of questions as I go and would do more exam style question practice and mocks in February. Because with SBL you need to know the theories, models and frameworks but you also need to know how to use them in the case study. Remember that you don't have to get every detail right at first when you are reading, just try to understand the main points. Later when you do exam style questions is when things get clearer.
      Best of luck in March!

      Thanks for reply Zeynep.
      I have started doing past papers and will follow your advice about combining the two methods. After going through the actual exam paper, I can totally understand now why it's so crucial to get lots of exam practise.
      I will let you know in a few months how I get on.

    Hello again Zeynep. Hope you are well. Was AAA your final paper?
    I just revisited this lecture again because I am struggling with exam questions. I don't find them difficult per se, but I lack stamina. I feel tired just by reading the exhibits!
    When I read the cases a few times, I can actually see how the how the examiner's mind is working. There are always key magic points which the examiner provides, but I am initially slow at connecting all the dots and forming answers. I just hope my stamina improves with regular practice. Your tips have given me some confidence though, so thank you.

    • @ZeynepMercan
      @ZeynepMercan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi again Koshka. So nice to hear from you again! Yes, AAA was my final paper.
      No doubt SBL is a huge exam and you're right to hope that the stamina will build up with practice. The exhibits made me feel intimidated at the beginning and there's so much information that you need to pay attention to. But you will get there with consistent practice. Your practice of reading the questions until you connect the dots and understand what the examiner is trying to do is a very smart move. I usually go through specimens/recent past exams 2-3 times and it really helps. Don't feel discouraged, what you're going through is just a part of the process.

    I am going to sit SBL in Dec and your videos are super helpful. I did my first mock today and I wrote 2500 words for two questions (50 marks in total). I guess that's too many words?

    • @ZeynepMercan
      @ZeynepMercan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What matters is a) how much time does it take you to write those words? will you have enough time in the exam to write that much? b) were your answers structured and clear enough for the marker) c) and most importantly: did you write what you needed to write to get a mark? as long as you write what you need to write to get marks and manage your time well, the word count shouldn't matter. it is also easier to write to the point and shorter if you can plan your answer first. I suggest you check these resources if you haven't already to learn about how markers approach papers: www.accaglobal.com/an/en/student/exam-support-resources/professional-exams-study-resources/strategic-business-leader/exam-technique.html

    Hi Zeynep
    I am an ACCA student and I just want to know how much time it took for u to complete ur SBL xam preparation??
    If I am planning to spend 3 months for SBL xam prep, how much hours should I spend??
    And its my first P lvl paper
    Hope I could get ur reply 😇

    • @ZeynepMercan
      @ZeynepMercan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Mohammed! I am not sure hours studied is always a good indicator of learning. I usually end up wasting more time the longer I allocate for studying so I try to study for a shorter time but as often as I can. But it all depends on how you learn and what you are comfortable with. Some people can concentrate much better and study for hours. Some people prefer to decide on what they will finish in a session rather that the length of the session and I find that can also be productive for me. Be careful with that approach if you are very ambitious with your study goals though :) Best of luck!

    Hi zeynep, I started ACCA in 20s And in sbl paper after passed p3 but failed P1. I'm 34 this year. I prepare for SBL but a bit demotivated with previous failures. Can u say ur motivation?

    • @ZeynepMercan
      @ZeynepMercan  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not usually motivated, especially when I'm just getting started at something. To be honest, I am skeptical about the whole motivation concept and feel like we are chasing rainbows. But I do not need motivation to study, none of us does. If I don't want to start studying, I try to choose and do one small thing. Sometimes I feel better after that and want to keep studying, sometimes I don't. I try to build a routine and follow a schedule if I can, rather than relying on the elusive motivation. And what is it with the age? 34 is a great age, I was 34 when I took SBL :)

      @ZeynepMercan  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! I used open tuition for bot SBR and AAA. I took 3 or 4 weekends of face to face classes for SBL supplemented by pre-recorded videos from the tutor. I heavily rely on ACCA free resources: past papers, practice to pass webinars and technical articles. I go through the recent past papers more than once.

      Hi there. Thanks for your kind words! I prepared very little for SBR because I was exhausted due to work at the time. I got lucky and scored 53 at first attempt. I mainly used open tuition, ACCA webinars, attempted past papers repeatedly because my first attempts were very weak, also limited question practice from BPP kit. It was a struggle for me but I found prepare to pass wenibars, Tom Clendon's brilliant webinar and exam debrief very useful. I'm sure if I had more time and energy I would benefit from a more structured way of learning like taking online or irl classes, following the text book etc but I did what I could at the time. You can find SBR webinars including Mr. Clendon's webinars and exam debrief here: www.accaglobal.com/sg/en/student/exam-support-resources/professional-exams-study-resources/strategic-business-reporting/webinars.html
