Here is the difference, Reese happened while the ball was in play. Carter's foul took place when the ball was not in play. Has nothing to do with being rugged or a villain. It was uncalled for. If the ball had been passed to Carter, it would have been completely different.
Flopping is part of the game regardless of men vs women but what added extra fire to the hip check is that it wasn’t done in the heat of the moment. The ball was no where near them and wasn’t even on the court yet. The block was a foul and too forceful but it was a block that had purpose in the context of the game. The only purpose of the hip check was to hurt another player. It’s disappointing to see women on the court prove detractors right with these catty moves that are motivated by jealousy. It’s also a bad move for your team to give away free throws. That’s the difference and not see that point is being willfully ignorant and trying to use that as point to support a racially, motivated argument is doing disservice to the players.
Using jealousy as motive for the hip check is lazy. I don't know why so many of you believe this when it was reported that Clark threw an inadvertent elbow on the other end of the court. The 2 were jawing at each other going down the court over it so it wasn't as though Clark didn't know that Chennedy had an issue with her. And if you saw it from a different camera angle, you see Chennedy scream at her right before the hip check. That was nothing more than pure competitive retaliation. That jealousy argument that CC stans stand on is simply irrational. It's too late in the game to break out in a jealous rage. One of the problems people have had was up to this point, there was no definitive proof that Clark was being targeted. She ran into screens or she gets an elbow to the head after her shot gets blocked. So everyone only felt she was getting targeted and now they finally got proof but ignored the real reason behind the hip check. Reese's clothesline was worse than you're portraying it. This camera angle doesn't show it but she was grabbed by the throat and thrown to the ground. The back of her head slammed to the floor. To say that happened in the flow of the game is ridiculous. It basically happens exactly how Clark's did. Players jawing until it gets physical. I can't dispute that Chennedy wasn't trying to hurt Clark cuz it's apparent that Clark hurt Chennedy. Flopping is part of the game regardless of men vs women but what added extra fire to the hip check is that it wasn’t done in the heat of the moment. The ball was no where near them and wasn’t even on the court yet. The block was a foul and too forceful but it was a block that had purpose in the context of the game.
The only purpose of the hip check was to hurt another player. It’s disappointing to see women on the court prove detractors right with these catty moves that are motivated by jealousy. It’s also a bad move for your team to give away free throws.
That’s the difference and not see that point is being willfully ignorant and trying to use that as point to support a racially, motivated argument is doing disservice to the players.
Using jealousy as motive for the hip check is lazy. I don't know why so many of you believe this when it was reported that Clark threw an inadvertent elbow on the other end of the court. The 2 were jawing at each other going down the court over it so it wasn't as though Clark didn't know that Chennedy had an issue with her. And if you saw it from a different camera angle, you see Chennedy scream at her right before the hip check. That was nothing more than pure competitive retaliation. That jealousy argument that CC stans stand on is simply irrational. It's too late in the game to break out in a jealous rage. One of the problems people have had was up to this point, there was no definitive proof that Clark was being targeted. She ran into screens or she gets an elbow to the head after her shot gets blocked. So everyone only felt she was getting targeted and now they finally got proof but ignored the real reason behind the hip check.
Reese's clothesline was worse than you're portraying it. This camera angle doesn't show it but she was grabbed by the throat and thrown to the ground. The back of her head slammed to the floor. To say that happened in the flow of the game is ridiculous. It basically happens exactly how Clark's did. Players jawing until it gets physical. I can't dispute that Chennedy wasn't trying to hurt Clark cuz it's apparent that Clark hurt Chennedy. But Allyssa Thomas tried to injure Reese and you should not be downplaying that.

Angel reminds me of Shaq in the way she plays. She’s not afraid to take a hit and guarding her is rough. She just brings a physicality to the sport while still remaining feminine and gorgeous. I’m just glad she’s OK from the clotheslining. Angel can be physical without endangering the health of another player. And that’s why we are watching the WNBA. Players like Reese and Clark bring a fresh tough but still feminine aspect to the game which makes men want to watch.
