Nothing for his joke but the roar and minute long ovation and cheers she got when she rolled out on stage. It was spontaneous and real. No prompted laughter, applause or cheering. For those who want to try and read into the fact that Clark did not mention Diana Taurasi: she didn’t mention a single current WNBA player. Taurasi is still playing.
She has been America’s Sweetheart throughout the past season for WBB, especially throughout March Madness. Now, she was in front of a bigger audience gaining more support as ‘America’s Sweetheart’. This whole episode was a breath of fresh air. As a fellow Iowan, I am glad someone like Caitlyn Clark is out there representing us, and showing the world that we're not a bunch of dumb, backward hicks- and we have sons and daughters who know how to play a good game of basketball. This segment was just the icing on the cake.
When we beat uconn in the final fout both Stewert and her wernt to positive about Clark. I get being disappointed but be positive in the fact that Clark is helping also them and the entire wnba. Rantings and leadership are on the verge if big numbers never seen and new regationtions for a new tv and revenue deal for the wnba are soon approaching. I get that Clark is a rookie and she will be getting some tough love and won't be easy but folks have to think bigger picture and what's good for the league. It's bigger than any one player. This has the potential to increase what every one is making and perhaps more wnba expansion teams like the announced Sacramento team . Also have a issue with apan coverage being way to uconn biased.
You should take it easy on yourself. I'm sure most people in America don't share those opinions about Iowans. Every Iowan I've ever met from the state have been stand-up.

That’s what SNL needs more often!!!! This was great!!!! Excellent job everyone
She delivered THE punchline (“You don’t have a girlfriend, Michael.” ) like her passes...perfectly.
Man, she made Che eat so much crow this sketch!
The feeling is mutual between Jost and thems obv. Clark can hit 3s even Curry could never reach.
@@SirMikanThat’s a stretch 😂
@@SirMikanSounds like you've never watched a Curry highlight reel. 😂 They are both amazing shooters, so don't downplay Curry like that.
@@SirMikan lol what the hell, this is getting ridiculous. You and everyone else is going to continue not watching women's sports outside of a couple weeks each decade. It's completely subsidized by men's, because it's different planets of ability.
Yeah! It's official. She could compromise me!
She is everywhere! ❤
Iowa made SNL LOL!
Yep, yep, yep. She's thankful❤
So did jada, Kate Martin and gabbie 😀
How he starts the jokes with fear in his voice is hilarious. What a delivery. And Catlin is just awesome.
It's nice that they switched it up and made Che the punching bag. You know Colin loved every second of this 🤣
🎉🎉🎉
Colin just sitting there, pouring oil on the fire 😄
Hey, Che's been doing it to him for as long as they've been doing Weekend Update. Now it's payback time.
Colin probably helped Caitlin write those jokes
3:35 Swoopes literally is the definition of never meet your heroes. Feel bad for Clark.
First name out her mouth too.
Wow! Very impressive performance by Caltlin Clark. She's either been very well coached & well instructed, or she's a natural performer.
Look, let's be blunt here, over her last two years of college Caitlin Clark has had to fastly know how to be media savvy and has caught on just how to extremely well.
she has four years being interview on live tv. So im not surprise she nailed this.
Are you serious?
@@chychywoohoo Yes, Mr hoo, my observation was serious. Or, are the abilities that she demonstrated in your estimation something that "everyone" should know without doubt or uncertainty?
She read her lines well. They rehearse all week.
Im from Iowa, my sister is studying at the university of iowa right now, this makes me so incredibly happy. big love for caitlin!!!!
Michael didnt really know how much people love this girl, until he told that joke about her. And they didnt like it at all! Nothing for his joke but the roar and minute long ovation and cheers she got when she rolled out on stage. It was spontaneous and real. No prompted laughter, applause or cheering.
New York is a long way from Iowa. She has very loyal and devoted fans everywhere she goes.
Amazing segment!! And as a woman who played sports, my inner child is thrilled to see Caitlin getting so much recognition 💖
Me too. 😊
Let’s go queen! I dig the shoutouts to her icons, and can’t wait to dig into them myself. So glad y’all had her on!
Colin and Michael are hilarious. Caitlin Clark did a great job.
For those who want to try and read into the fact that Clark did not mention Diana Taurasi: she didn’t mention a single current WNBA player. Taurasi is still playing.
Yes but Diana has been a legend amongst legends
Sue Bird?
Give it a break, complainers. We can read between your lines
She didn't mention anyone who wasn't black.
Who cares?
She just became Americas Sweetheart ❤
love her
She has been America’s Sweetheart throughout the past season for WBB, especially throughout March Madness. Now, she was in front of a bigger audience gaining more support as ‘America’s Sweetheart’.
She’s going to do wonders for the WNBA. Nothing can bring her down… not even 2 losses of the National Championship. She will bring humility to the WNBA.
I think she became America's sweetheart when she was born
It’s because she’s White.
Black women aren't allowed to get that title. Not even Simone Biles. When white folks say All American looks or America's Sweetheart you know they aren't talking about black Americans, whose ancestors arrived here before most Americans.
This young lady is AWESOME!!!!!
her chin is huuuge

Caitlin really has some great on air poise! Great job! Glad she could deliver Colin's jokes so well!
I'm an Iowa graduate ('89) & just visited my alma mater for first time in 25 years! Caitlin Clark mania was real...and we are so proud of her & now SNL for having her & the girls on last night! Just think of how a bunch of decent hard-working college girls showed us how great & classy we can be!
You're burned Michael Che!
Looks like Michael Che was surprised by CC. Hsi reaction is priceless.
This segment, the cold open with Kate McKinnon, and the Beavis & Butthead skit, should all be a part of a "Best of SNL" compilation. This episode was an instant classic.
I was already dying from the Beavis & Butthead sketch and then came Weekend Update 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Also Papyrus 2
It was okay given then current
cast.
I love how she intentionally left Diana Taurasi off the list of great players lmfaooo I love Caitlin even more now….Greatest Diss ever on national tv luv it
What’s the backstory of Diana?
Who honestly is Diana? What about the great Uma M?
Doubt she did that, Sheryl Swoopes was actually hating on her and she mentioned her. CC and Diana will probably be on Team USA together this summer
@@Chigz10Diana had some comments about CC as well but they were more indirect and CC wasn’t the only one she has mentioned.
what’s the tea sis?
Colin with the assist😂
I was definitely expecting a roast when she started naming the greats, especially when she started with Swoopes who completely dogged on her with some gnarly misinformation a couple months ago. As much as I would've loved it I respect it, she's too wholesome for it.
Caitlin did not have a covid year, the year before she became a freshman was the covid year.
How she gonna roast a 4x WNBA champion, multiple Olympic gold medalist, and someone who, unlike herself, delivered a national championship to her program with a game for the ages? But I bet you don't know that because you don't actually watch women's basketball.

Right up there with Che getting audience cued not to laugh at Colin.
@@rukeyser that was epically classic. It’s too bad that Che was unable to convince the few who did laugh that night (possibly the crew) to keep quiet.
Why is weekend update actually fun to watch and the only interesting thing to watch on snl
We Iowans are so proud of Caitlin Clark and are so happy for her. She is the example for how hard work and dedication to something can bring great success. It wasn’t just talent. She didn’t take an “instant gratification” route and instead paid her dues each and every day. Her success didn’t just happen - she consistently worked hard to make it happen. We in Iowa are so proud of our young men and women and hope they return to Iowa when they decide to settle down.

She's a genuinely great human. I live in the area where she grew up -- it's not a large city -- she's been a class act since forever. And a really hard worker.
Imagine writing 'wnba legends' unironically.

I'm not sure how intelligence is directly correlated to basketball acumen.
@@RaineMaven given who they've elected as governor repeatedly, the description fits.
That was a good setup for showcasing someone who isn't used to being onstage. At the very end it looks like they both leaned over to tell her "Good job"☺
I love this clip SO much. Caitlin Clark is awesome, as are all the other women bringing women's sports to the heights where they belong. I'm old enough to remember when a 12-year-old girl in Texas had to sue her school board so that she could take woodshop instead of home-ec.
Not a female it’s a man
I am from South Africa and basketball is never heard of but I am now watching the seasons highlights with just caitlin clark... this Woman has brought the game up to a standard no one has ever played at. I don't care where she goes, I will be following her games.
