Never apologize for being genuine, baby girl. It's an emotional song. He's telling his lady that he's a traveler at heart. If he stays it will destroy him, and she wouldn't like what he becomes. So whether he stays or leaves, it will break her heart either way. No matter what, she'll be hurt through no fault of hers. Love you, Mo. ❤️
I understand your mixed feelings. I hate when bands use the confederate flag as a backdrop. They are terrifically talented, but they should never have associated themselves with that symbol.
I would love to see your reaction to You Shook Me All Night Long by AC/DC. Very popular rock group. I am sure you would enjoy it. Most of your subscribers I think would like it too. TC Pretty Lady!
*FYI : In the South and for many years after the plane crash, you could go into any Bar or Club that had a Live Band and before the night was through, someone would stand up in there chair and yell at the band, " Play Free Bird ".*
This reaction is, PRICELESS. This is the power of music. Will be happy when I get to the other side, and can see Allen, Billy, Steve, Ed, Ronnie, Leon, and the rest of the crew live again.
I was at this Concert on July 2, 1977 in Oakland. I was fortunate to have seen the original band before the horrific crash on October 20, 1977. Incredible Show!! RIP to Ronnie, Steve, Cassie, the road manager and pilots!! Lynyrd Skynyrd's music will never die!!
You just experienced a song which, in my part of the world, is an anthem. Do not ever beat yourself up about showing emotion. I am a 67 year old Marine [retired]. More than one piece of music brings me to tears. If it moves you, the song/performers are good. Let the emotion out - it cleanses your soul. RIP, boys.
An anthem for me too in Northwest Florida! And lived near Jacksonville Florida for five years as a young man in the 1980's. My favorite band of all time, Lynyrd Skynyrd!
If a piece of art evokes an emotional reaction than it's mission accomplished on the part of the artist. Never apologize for being moved by a piece of music. That said, I know some of those tears were because you wish you could have been at that show 🙂
One of THE greatest live rock performances of all time, and one of THE greatest live rock bands ever. They played with heart, soul, passion and energy, and gave everything they had every time they walked out onto a stage. They're part of what makes Classic Rock and Southern Rock so indelible. Sadly, Gary Rossington (slide guitar) is the only surviving member of the band's original lineup. To all those incredible musicians who've gone ahead of us - we'll see you all on the other side. Until then - RIP.
One of the greatest bands of all time. So many great songs, check out, Call me the breeze, Tuesdays gone, Simple man, and I need you just to name a few.
@Paul Schneck. I can't get enough of "On The Hunt" on my commute. One of my fav Skynyrd tunes that nobody talks about ...."Am I Losin" from the Nuthin' Fancy album. And there's"Curtis Lowe" and many others. In my humble opinion, Skynyrd is the finest American band in recorded music history.
I was there, 16 years old. We had no idea that Ronnie would be gone in a few months. We did know it was a special day, we lived in such an amazing era. RIP thanks for all the great music and memories that I am sharing with my grandkids. Legends!
I was there on July 2, 1977. I lived about 45 minutes from the Oakland Coliseum. I was 17 years old and just graduated from high school. I will never forget that concert. Loved going to those Day on the Greens where you can watch two or three great bands for $11 bucks. Most people in that crowd are now grandparents and great grandparents. Loved your reaction ❤
The bottom line is. For anyone listening the division came after the the late 1800s . It's right right in front you. Black folk don't listen to white folk music . White do listen to black folk music. Who's been taught ?
You by FAR HAD THE BEST REACTION. GIRL IM CRYING WITH YOU. They're so darn humble, after that, just a simple bow and walk off. Love your reaction. You are no longer the same person you were, before watching this. If this band only knew that one day , years and years later people of every age and nationality would love them. If they only knew and YES SKYNRD we remember you.
I LOVE that you listened to this song & you FELT it!! My uncle passed away recently & this song was played at his funeral so I sat here & cried with you.❤️
Lynyrd Skynyrd has to be the hugest success/tragedy in the world of music, including well before the plane crash , during the crash, and afterwards, both as a band, and the individual members alike, and being as I so love their music and am so in awe of their musical skill, watching them is always a bitter sweet experience for me. Skynyrd guitarist, Gary Rossington, who plays the hypnotic slide guitar here, passed away in March 2023. R.I.P. Gary. You're as free as a bird.
Are you a model? If not you should be because you are absolutely beautiful. Thanks for reacting to Freebird. One of my all time favorite songs and bands.
This live version of this song…is simply epic. Nice react. Glad it moved you. That’s what music is supposed to do. 6:35 that crowd knew what was coming.
Gotta say, there are times when I hear Billy Powell play the piano, I have the same reaction. Billy has left us, but his playing will live on forever!!
Jeez, I'm a 62 year old man, and I had tears along with you, and though ( I love music) I have listened to millions of songs, many have moved me to almost tears, I hate people to see me cry over songs, so I tend to hold them in, but you moved me on this one, absolutely loved your reaction, thank you.
Everyone talks about the guitar solo at the end by Allen Collins but the part that always gets me is the slide work in the first half of the song by Gary Rossington. Just beautiful
To me it was part 1 setting the musical picture of the regret of the couple breaking up and the high pitched riff at the build-up sounded like the bird in distress wanting to fly away>>>part 2 freedom. Thank-you Gary and Allen!
07:10 If we built speakers/amplifiers as tall as Everest all over the globe and played Free Bird everybody on Earth would join the party and humanity's problems would be solved ;)
I've watched a lot of reactions to this song & I don't remember seeing anyone go on an emotional roller coaster like this. I was wishing I could hug you & wondering why the tears were there. I really enjoy your channel, stay true to yourself. 👍✌️❤️
You didn't have tears too? Never let the your emotions get dull during this. Something missing in your life. Maybe if you listen to it again, you'll find it like you did then and then never lose it. Can't pass on what you've lost.
The 70's, 80s and early 90's where the best of times. It's sad to think that most of the original band is gone now. Todays Skynyrd is bringing a younger generation back to the music. Many Blessings.
As an American ,and a proud southerner, lynyrd skynyrd, Hank Williams Jr.,The Allman Brothers, and Stevie Ray Vaughn speak my language. Our music is a beautiful mix of blues ,country ,rock and folk that evolved into this . Many like the rolling stones have tried to copy our style, few do it justice. Us southerners love everyone and have had to live with thr stigma of racism for far to long in this country, and I'll put our music up against any other . God bless you for opening up your heart and soul to our culture. Much love and respect.
This was an incredible reaction, Mo. When music can do this to a person, ride it, my dear! This is one of the best live performances that is out there. So, glad that you watched it. Shine on!
It's so easy to get caught up and blown away by the outro/ensemble to forget to think about what a well-constructed piece of music this is. In the mournful beginning, the vocalist is expressing sympathy to the one he has to leave. Then the guitarists build on the sheer passion and joy the "bird" feels once he's "free". Now, imagine you were suddenly free from all care, and could actually fly. You'd start zooming and soaring all over the sky, revelling in your freedom from being earthbound and able to explore the limitless sky. That's the feeling the guitarists are expressing through their instruments. It's joyous, it's liberating, and you can understand why the "bird" in the beginning had to leave and follow its nature to be a "freebird" and fly high, even accepting that it meant leaving someone behind. The talent and energy of the musicians and the vocalist expresses and conveys the emotions beautifully and effectively to the audience. I've always said that Ronnie Van Zandt didn't just sing lyrics, he declared them.
WOW!! That was an amazing reaction Mo. Your emotional roller coaster ride was something to behold. This concert was 10 days before my 18th birthday. My band members chipped in and bought me a ticket and all 5 of us were there in the middle of that mass of humanity. I had a GREAT time and got a helluva sunburn. It was well worth it!! The one thing this video doesn't quite convey is how incredibly LOUD the concert was. The other bands on the bill that day were The Outlaws, Santana and the headliner was Peter Frampton. Great day of music indeed!! Take care Luv, RNB
What a great lineup! I remember the age of 5 or 6 band stadium concerts! In 1981 my friends and I saw "The Roundup" -- .38 Special, Marshall Tucker Band, Molly Hatchet, Outlaws and Allman Brothers Band. In the hot July sun at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia.
@@Alewifes_Husband WOW! A 'Who's Who" of the greatest Southern Rock Bands of All Time. That's awesome. The nice thing about the Oakland Coliseum was it sits right next to the San Francisco Bay. So even though it was very sunny in July, a mild breeze usually kept the real possibility of heat stroke somewhat at bay.🥵 Cheers, RNB
@@Isleofskye L S was who I wanted to see. But Frampton Comes Alive was released in January of 1976 and been on the charts for a yeas and a half. Peter was hot as hot gets. L S last album Gimme Back My Bullets ( a truly dreadful album) was released a month after Frampton Comes Alive. So there was no doubt who the headliner was. The pride of Beckenham, Kent. England's own Peter Frampton. Who was simply amazing on this day as well. Cheers, RNB
@@ricknbacker5626 Yes,Beckenham Kent/Greater London😀 I live about 8 miles away with a dual address on the very edge of S E London and Kent and have done for 40 years next year. You may know that Peter's Dad was an Art Teacher who taught Peter and his friend David Bowie(nee Jones) and David was born in Brixton, very near where I lived my first 29 years.😀
You're an absolutely beautiful human being so please, never keep a reaction like this from us. Your reaction is because you hear the words he is singing and the message he is telling the people in front of him. You see those people out there, feeling their emotions and you become part of them. Thank you so much for allowing us into your life and see your emotions shine through. EDIT: Do you realize you have 51,000 people out here from around the world that adore you?
I am so thankful to have grown up in the 60’s and the 70’s when music had meaning along with great musicians. Absolutely, one of my favorite bands, Lynard Skynard!
Thank you for actually taking the time to watch and LISTEN to the song with not interrupting. That way the full impact of the song is absorbed and understood.
Has been, still is and probably always be one of the best rock songs ever and definitely the best guitar solo ever. I can't believe Collins wrote that song when he was 17. Crazy. Not sure but this could've been one of if not the last performance for them ever since the plane crash was only three months later.
that smile! could make a thousand friends and break a million hearts! Love your reactions, and never be sorry. There is nothing more important than if the music moves you or not. Smile as wide as possible, laugh as loud as you can, cry as often as you need to and love every chance you get!
I played this at my Brother's funeral in 2005. This concert was about 4 months before the airplane crash that killed Ronnie Van Zant, Steve and Cassie Gaines. Great video and it always brings me to tears.
What you initially thought was three guitarists was actually two plus the Bass guitar player but then they DID have three guitarists that were great lead guitarists! Another great video is (maybe the same show) is a song called T for Texas, live 1976 here on you tube where you can really SEE all of them play!
What really gets me when I watch old concert footage like this, is the crowd. Watching these young adults have such a great time, but knowing that all of them are now at least in their 60s and 70s, or sadly, no longer with us, makes it a sad video to watch. This was 45 years ago, and is a stern reminder of how little time we really have on this planet. Relish every minute of it.
I knew you would enjoy that. I recently heard a song I've not heard in years and immediately thought Mo would love it. It's by The Fureys and Davey Arthur and it's called When You Were Sweet Sixteen. Have some tissues handy as you listen.....You will need them!
The guy playing the piano was a roadie for the band ! But unknown to them he was a trained classical pianist! They heard him playing his version of this song and pulled him straight into the band !
The band members grew up in Jacksonville Florida. They all would play and practice for hours on end in a small shack in a back yard. Ronnie Van Zant, the lead singer who lived fast,. always said he'd never live to see his 30th birthday. His prediction did come to pass unfortunately as he and several other of the band members died in an I'll advised plane trip that that crashed . The flight was taken under treturous conditions .Ronnie Van Zant was just 29 years old.
If music can escape the atmosphere of this little blue rock we live on, it carries itself out into space and never stops...i believe the sounds from this show are still out there floating through the universe and will for all times existence. Beautiful to share this moment with you. Thank you.
Never say you are sorry for showing your emotions.. You keep it real, that's what I like about you. This band was one of the greats. This is one of my favorite songs by them.. Loved your reaction to this.. So Keep On Keepin' On.. and Dance Baby Girl, Dance.. Love ya
Here's one for ya. I Saw them in 1977 at the Hanner field house in Statesboro Georgia it's a sports field house and less than a 1000 people could fit in there. I was 15 going on 16 with my sister and a friend Tommy Morris This band sang THREE encodes for less than a 1000 people and this was the last song they sang but the did it twice for us.. I can still see them in my mind . I was 3 row from the stage not 30 feet away. They had just played sold out coliseum everywhere to come to a town of 30,000 and played to us like there was 300,000 people.. Not that is one helluva band. Nothing topped them since for me that day. All I can say is Wow! Just ,Wow! RIP you guys❤
This is the first time watching you and I loved it. You didn't stop the song thank you. When music is good it doesn't matter who you are or what you do. It takes your heart with it.
Mo, your reaction to this version of Freebird was so honest and heartfelt. I get emotional watching this video because this wonderful band is doomed. Three months later their rickity old plane goes down ending the band as we knew them. The people at that concert were so lucky to see Skynyrd in their red hot prime. God bless.
The first few minutes and your smile!!! Wow!!! Added: OMG! You get it! This reaction is the best I've ever seen of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Freebird." Thank you so much!!!
In the mid seventies the country was just coming out of Vietnam and music prior to that had a lot to do with protest and peace. This young guys used the flag to show where they were from, the south, and that they were proud of it in spite of all the negativity that was around the years before. The had no idea about the politics that would make it so controversial years later. This concert was in California. So the people there didn’t either. Just great music and lots of fun.
What an AWESOME reaction video to an amazinv song! I'd almost forgotten how great Lynard Skinnard was! This is one of the greatest guitar solos of all time!
You're reacting to my favorite band and this song is one of the greatest songs ever written . Music like this moves people that really understands what touching your soul really means ! Unfortunately the singer and several members of this band got killed in a plane crash and part of the band is still touring and I've seen them twice and they sure as Hell didn't disappoint ..
Great reaction to legendary rock and roll. If you do not like this you do not like rock and roll. Top 5 of all time. Epic stadium rock back when the giants could fill stadiums.
I grew up listening to all kinds of music ,love free bird it goes all the way back as a kid ,if it doesn't touch .....you have no pulse watch the video.
I grew up with this song and still get emotional listening to the slide guitar wailing in longing, the weeping piano and then the build-up. The last song I played with a band near Chicago was Freebird, on a huge professional stage with great sound, lighting and even fog. When the song built up from slow to fast, I closed my eyes and felt energy filling me up. It was electric. Then I unleashed that through my drum kit (the same as in my thumbnail) and into the audience. I played every note like my life depended on it and I was completely spent after the last two notes. My entire soul went into it and I had nothing left to give.
We drove the from Redding to Oakland in 1977 I was 20, Sweet memories and a little sad. Oh yeah we party, you feel the music 🎶 great reaction Sweetie. 🎶
I get tears in my eyes watching this too. Only because of the upcoming tragedy that was soon to happen. This band was phenomenal, so was your reaction!!
Ronnie VanZant was one of the greatest song writers of all time. Its impossible to know how much great music we missed out on after he died. This song always brings a tear to my eye. RIP to all those we have lost.
This was just months before their plane crash. In 10 days it'll mark 45 years since that plane crash happened, that killed singer Ronnie Van Zant, guitarist Steve Gaines, and backing vocalist Cassie Gaines (Steve Gaines' older sister). Highly recommend watching a documentary on the band.. Lots of profound things surrounding their story that you just have to hear yourself. Even a couple of eerie, or seemingly prophetic-like, quotes related to Ronnie's fate.
Well done girl ..You get it and that’s what matters . Saw a current version of them live 2019 as must see bucket list job . Amazing . But this is ultra special ….Simply beautiful..❤
I really enjoyed the emotional ride sweety..They would have been proud.. This is one of most epic ballads in rock and roll and it touched your heart from sadness to huge joy.. You nailed it. And your smile lights up the room.. Play more Skynard..They are one of the best..
I saw them live in 75 or 76 at the Philadelphia spectrum my first concert. There are such a talented musicians and have some great songs that I still listen to. Thank you very much love your reactions😃😃 their vinyl now is still incredibly well produced and sounds great.
This was the year I graduated from High School. I remember hearing this song when it was new. One sad note about 3 months after this concert was the plane crash. A tough day for all of us.
Hello beautiful baby girl 💓💓 That's emotion. Let the tears running girl. After that you feeling relief and free and feeling better. Love you much ❤️❤️❤️❤️ leon
Interestingly, if it has not been mentioned before, the piano player (Billy Powell) had been a "roadie" for them for a couple of years, when the band members heard him noodling on a piano (unbeknownst to Billy). They immediately decided to add him to the band. Thank God.
Hello Baby Girl! You need not apologize for being so emotional and gleefully animated over such an iconic and classic piece of art, you make my day as always. Lynyrd Skynyrd are American southern rock legends. Might I suggest Creedence Clearwater Revival? I love you and your reactions. God bless you and keep up the awesome reactions. Bye for now baby girl. ✌😻😍
I was there. 13 years old. Bill Graham and Day on the Green. The Bay Area music scene is a shell of what it once was. Then just 3 weekends later the mighty Led Zeppelin. Bill Graham gettin it done
Such a powerful song and it is also an emotional song so when you started to tear up and say sorry there was no need to I cry a lot to this song too it just shows that we are human beings
My mom wouldn't let me go with my Uncle in '77 (age 10) I would have LOVED seeing the original line-up of skynyrd. I did see them years later when Ronny's brother Johnny Van Zant took over the reigns. I did however sneak off with him in '78 for the Day on the Green sometime in June-july I can't remember the date. They had an awesome line-up, Aerosmith, Foreigner, Van Halen (never heard of them until that day) and AC/DC. Went back in '83 and my last Day on the Green was '84. Incredible times at the Oakland Coliseum. Great reaction as always!
Such a great performance that was one of the bands last. On October 20, 1977, during a flight from Greenville, South Carolina, to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s tour plane crashed in a heavily wooded area of southwestern Mississippi during a failed emergency landing attempt, killing band-members Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines and Cassie Gaines as well as the band’s assistant road manager and the plane’s pilot and co-pilot. Twenty others survived the crash.
Hey little sister! I have been a fan of this band since they hit in the early 70's. This song and this video still moves me to tears. It touches deeply and also triggers this guy to remember those that I have lost. Thanks for reviewing.
That was my generation out in that crowd. Now we're all old people. Just a little reminder to get out and enjoy your life it will be over sooner than you think.
Hi Mo, wow you went through the full range of emotions there but ended up smiling and dancing more & more! Great live performance by the original line up. Keep on smiling & dancing beautiful!
I had several mixed feelings about putting this up. I hope you enjoy watching regardless Fam. xoxo
Such talent is hard to find today. It can be overwhelming. What was. And is no more. I love seeing the happiness in you. Thank you.
Never apologize for being genuine, baby girl. It's an emotional song. He's telling his lady that he's a traveler at heart. If he stays it will destroy him, and she wouldn't like what he becomes. So happy you did!! Loved it, RNB
Are you kidding? This was a GREAT REACTION.
I understand your mixed feelings. I hate when bands use the confederate flag as a backdrop. They are terrifically talented, but they should never have associated themselves with that symbol.
Someone who gets tears in his eyes while hearing music like this has his heart in the right place, Mo. ❤️

You are correct on that
*FYI : In the South and for many years after the plane crash, you could go into any Bar or Club that had a Live Band and before the night was through, someone would stand up in there chair and yell at the band, " Play Free Bird ".*

And Gary too now since he passed away in 2023
RIP to all the members of Lynyrd Skynyrd. You will forever be in my heart! ❤❤
Yes Rip you all left us way too soon 🙏🎸
The rebirth of Snyyrd Nation is a Beautiful thing in 2022 !!!

You know, we have to see where you were in the crowd. Can you be seen?
Can you imagine if they would never crash, they would be hotter than Van Halen and Journey in the 80’s
BS , this is Winter Park San Francisco. 76.😅

The talent and energy of the musicians and the vocalist expresses and conveys the emotions beautifully and effectively to the audience. I've always said that Ronnie Van Zandt didn't just sing lyrics, he declared them.
Excellent review!
As a Londoner,I assumed LS was the main act so it must have been hard to follow that !
Cheers, RNB
@@ricknbacker5626 Yes,Beckenham Kent/Greater London😀
I live about 8 miles away with a dual address on the very edge of S E London and Kent and have done for 40 years next year.
@9:15 bass player absolutely freakin KILLIN it!
Loved that "Southern Flag" man ,good Southern People
Gotcha, didn't it. I am 67 now and still enjoys going to concerts. No matter what band is playing, I stick my fist up and yell "Freebird". R.I.P Ronny
I tear up too sweet angel. I remember when they had there plane crash not long after this concert not far from my home in Mississippi. Devastating 😪
Thank you.
One the most purest reactions from the most purest hearts... Your channel , and You, are the best!!
Mo. Please please PLEASE never apologize for being genuine in anything. Especially how you feel
I don't even know this woman but I love her spirit
Southern Rock baby❤❤❤👍✌️
These guys sounded amazing live... one of those bands that were able to recreate their studio sound.
Great reaction as always
The band that plays for them today recreate them, not 100% but kept the music going. Saw them last summer. Great concert.
This is the first time watching you and I loved it. You didn't stop the song thank you. When music is good it doesn't matter who you are or what you do. It takes your heart with it.
No reason to apologize. You saw beauty and it caused emotion. Perfectly human. 🤘🤘🤘
God bless.
RIP. Ronnie Vanz Andt. Long live your spirit Freebird.
There are a lot of reasons to shed tears. Experiencing something beautiful is the best reason. Love.
Steve and Allen are just SHREDDING!!!!
The first few minutes and your smile!!! Wow!!!
Added: OMG! You get it! This reaction is the best I've ever seen of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Freebird." Thank you so much!!!
Always stay with the girl! ♥ Love the reaction Morenikeji. You never need to apologize, again, for feelings. ♥
You're a beautiful woman with a beautiful soul never apologize for showing your emotions... ❤
I have been to his grave. I am a Florida boy, not far from his hometown. Ronnie is a local hero. Long live Lynard Skynard. . Florida lost a pioneer.
I saw them live in 75 or 76 at the Philadelphia spectrum my first concert. There are such a talented musicians and have some great songs that I still listen to. Thank you very much love your reactions😃😃 their vinyl now is still incredibly well produced and sounds great.
That's where I saw them. Spectrum..great great concert.
This was the year I graduated from High School. I remember hearing this song when it was new. One sad note about 3 months after this concert was the plane crash. A tough day for all of us.
I can't even imagine. Almost like a Michael Jackson day, not quite but close.
Hello beautiful baby girl 💓💓
That's emotion. Let the tears running girl.
After that you feeling relief and free and feeling better.
Love you much ❤️❤️❤️❤️ leon
no worries it's a very emotional song so beautiful and full of energy loved it !!!
Interestingly, if it has not been mentioned before, the piano player (Billy Powell) had been a "roadie" for them for a couple of years, when the band members heard him noodling on a piano (unbeknownst to Billy). They immediately decided to add him to the band. Thank God.
That's the music I grew up on. 1976 baby, my parents played the good stuff. 👍
☺️❤️
Hi Heather check out their concert' too at Knebworth England from the year of your birth 👍
@@stephenchappell7512 thanks, will do!
Hello Baby Girl! You need not apologize for being so emotional
and gleefully animated over such an iconic and classic piece of
art, you make my day as always. Lynyrd Skynyrd are American
southern rock legends. Might I suggest Creedence Clearwater Revival?
I love you and your reactions. God bless you and keep up the awesome
reactions. Bye for now baby girl. ✌😻😍
SKYNYRD did what musicians do THEY MAKE US EMOTIONAL!! I saw the twice , BEST SHOWS EVER!! 😢😍🎸🔥😢🎸😍🔥😢🎸😍🔥😁
Baby girl you have a precious heart and I wish the best for you. God bless you!
What , no cellphones. Much better time for music. Watching the band with your eyes and not through a phone.
Good for you for checking it out.
It was a great performance with an adoring crowd.
Beautiful reaction from a beautiful young lady with a amazing smile. 😎
There will Never be another Ronnie!!!
I was at that show in Oakland. I was 15, and that show was really something.
All those people in the audience are now grandpas and grandmas, how quickly time flies!❤
Check out “Sweet home Alabama” from the same concert.
