I can keep enjoying my melodeon now! I didn't want to send it back to the factory in mainland China this time but couldn't find anyone that would try to fix it (melodeons are not popular in Hong Kong). I got the courage to take my BC apart and replace the broken spring with what I had on hand until I can source the right springs, thanks to you!

An excellent instructional video. I use a small drill chuck to extract the rod.

Re attaching the springs is very tricky. Make a suitable tool by grinding a slot in a small screwdriver. Keep this tool for future jobs.

Grand job Lester. Thanks very much, a job I've not done yet.

1.I discovered how to fix 1 treble spring & 3 bass strings by "Bridging" the particular lever across with a small spring (w/loops on each end & screwing them down into the wood) near the bottom. A rather quick Fix for me, but works like a charm & quite permanent, it seems (when playing you can't tell the difference).
    2. BTW the last 3 were on Newer button boxes (Corona III N Extreme & Corona III) - can you believe that ! Probably poor Spring material these days.
    3. I've also done my 1st complete Spring replacement on an older Hohner Single Row, but 1st discovered my "Bridged Spring" trick to get me by.
    4. Great video - I never knew about the "Rubber Band" trick. Really appreciate your Instructions on a full Complete spring replacement - I sure could have used it years ago !
    5. Thanks so much.

I'm going to try this on my Hohner Pokerwork, what are the length of the springs? .5mm and .55mm is thickness correct?

Ideally, there should be two different types of springs, one for each row. So it's a good idea not to mix the two, or at least measure the angle of the legs + their Ø and make sure they are identical.

TEMPORARY REPAIR GOOD , BUT HOW DO YOU PLAY THE OUTSIDE NOTES WON,T WORK WITH THE BAND OVER THE 2 PADS . THE MORRIS MAN SAY WE ARE GOING TO PLAY JENNY LIND THAT IS IN D G SO YOU HAVE TO PLAY IN THE 2 KEYS . . SO WHAT DO YOU DO . ?

As demonstrated in the video the temporary repair produces a fully functional box.
