Swedish Masquerade- Lester - Melodeon

A Danish dance (and tune) which they use to poke fun at Swedish people as they promenade. Also proof that I am slightly better at playing tunes than editing videos :)
Cajun Two-Step - Lester - Melodeon
มุมมอง 1K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
A tune that I knew nothing about but my chum Rees Wesson says "I've always wondered why that tune is called Cajun Two-Step as it's unlike any Cajun music that I've heard (and I've heard a lot). Apparently, the tune comes from Nathan Abshire’s playing on the Sonet album ‘The Cajuns Volume 2' although it's not really a two-step." It appeared as the final tune on the Topic album 'The Moon's In a F...

Thank you kind sir!
For some reason, I was thinking of "Swedish Rhapsody". Now *that* would be a melodeon challenge...

Wow, great Lester, what an inspiration you are!
impressive mate!
Impressive!
As a total novice to music you are my go to for how to structure the songs thank you
Where do you get all of these melodeons? Its so many!! And they all sound marvelous. Do you own all of them or do you fix/rehab them, film with them, then sell them? Cheers
I had many more melodeons than can be seen on my videos. It's my hobby and I have spent a lot of money over the >50 years I've been playing, if I had all the money I've spend on melodeons again I would spend it all on melodeons :) A video from 2014 when I seems I had 14 melodeons that could play in G th-cam.com/video/5XcKyrWRC9o/w-d-xo.html
Excellent, thank you
Here on this song the bass is on the right side playing. Maybe I mistake.
That’s a fancy Melodeon Mister! Are you turning Rap Star on us? 😁 Thanks! 🎻✌️🙂😎
No lie. Serious bling there.

What a happy tune. Thanks.
Thanks Lester!
Having scoured the internet for versions of this song, I can safely say that your playing tops everything. You're in a league of your own. Thanks for this.
I enjoyed this series of videos very much, thank you for showing us the inner workings of this accordion, and also the wonders of modification with the extra buttons! It sounds lovely after the work that you did to it.
Brilliant. Thank you for all your many inspirational tunes Lester
Es al reves como deberias empezar poniendo los botones se empieza por la 1era fila........pensa de.maneta logica a los alemanes no les gustaria perder tiempo armando.....
Great dance tune - must find a use for it - very jolly Thanks Lester
Thanks Lester, I am inspired to play this tune on my HA-114D. What a lovely tune.
Great stuff. Well played.
I know several of the Cajun two step tunes but this one is new to me, very pretty tune.
What a nice tune. Thank you.
me after spotting a hydro-dynamic spatula with port and starboard attachments and turbo drive:
my favourite Morris tune, although the group i'm in call it 'Gypsy Lad'
One of my favourite tunes - I play it after the bashful swain - another tune from the same time - both found in 1000 english country dance tunes
Ooh - I like the way you wax in the reeds, which wouldn't work for me due to condo (a tech I consulted showed me this technique and in fact called it the Lester Bailey method so you're a celebrity among accordion techs) and it was a bit too aromatic to do in my condo kitchen :-) But it's ingenious and answers the question about how to do the sides between reed blocks very effectively.
Fantastic - just what I needed to know.
Yes! We need more of that - all things bright and beautiful. Thank you Lester!
Thanks! 🎻🙂😎
I have one of these and am very interested. Thanks for the Castagnari Sander videos!
Muy bueno!! Saludos desde Buenos Aires!
Indeed, I found out the hard way many years ago that the rivets will very quickly melt through the plastic if allowed to turn while drilling. I do as you do, with the exception that I hold both rivets at once in a vice. Nice trick with the plastic screw hiders - thanks.
TOM KENNY: "You want your dime back?! TAKE IT!!! Now Squidward can come back, right?!"
Dang this was very useful! Thank you.
I received my first Melodeon the other week. Saltarelle Bouebe, D/G. Currently I’m simply droning on the left hand/Bass and working the melody out on the right. It’s very cool! I can’t believe that I finally got one of these things. It’s a very different instrument to play compared with my Mandolins, Guitars, Fiddles, Banjos, etc. Thanks for the advice on the Ed Rennie book. 🎻🙂😎
Apparently also a Playford version of Hunt The Squirrel!
Respect!
Lovely advice and great demo
A great tune! Thanks! 🎻🙂😎
Thanks so much for making these videos! I just bought my first accordion, a Hohner Vienna in semi-rough shape and I've been fixing it up based on this series. What is the tune you are playing at the beginning of the video?
The tune is Princess Royal th-cam.com/video/lj5US62tYlg/w-d-xo.html
very nicely played
🤔😁🙂😎Thanks!
Thank you Lester! A song from a point in time that nobody on this earth can even imagine. This is so cool.
I m working on a lot of these music lately on accordion. Its better to play slower like this. Thanks for showing and your files in the forum.
Very cool to see a new video from you. I just received my first Button Melodeon in the Post yesterday. It’s a Saltarelle DG Bouebe, swing tuned, 4th button start. It’s pretty cool!!! I’m waiting for my how to books to arrive. I ordered the Ed Rennie book that you recommended. Thanks to you and Anahata for the help! 🙂😎
Thank you Lester! Love your music
It sounds like a sea shanty.
Hello, Lester....Thank you for this extremely helpful tutorial with clear views, directions and advice. I just completed refacing the (very clackety) bass pallets on an old Hohner CF deClubbed box. I think it was a success! It's not exactly silent but it doesn't sound like some cloggers are accompanying my playing. I'm planning on following through with my GC Pokerwork and moving on to some repairs (and even retuning) drawing on your other videos. Thank you again for you generosity in sharing your expertise with the world.
Comments like yours make it worthwhile. Thank you
