- We had a mission: Building a Custom Bike for Fabio Schäfer.
MTB rider and TH-camr Fabio Schäfer is a bicycle enthusiast with a garage full of bikes-from hardtails to cross-country bikes to downhill bikes to gravel bikes. Before he is heading to Whistler, it was time for a new Torque for some serious downhill riding.
To create this special design, we turned to Fabio's wife, Liz, who, together with Fabio, creates designs for his branding. His motto, "Fight your Demons" stands for overcoming the "Schweinehund," which is the inner voice that encourages you to be lazy. When cycling, in particular, you have to fight against yourself quite often. For Fabio, the emphasis is on the positive vibes, having a good time with like-minded people, and improving day by day while paying less attention to the competitive side.
The bike's frame alone makes it easy to recognize Fabio's style in this bike - thanks to the raw-looking black and silver color scheme and the green accents. If you look closely, you can see his distinctive design stickers that provide that special personal touch and make it stand out even more.

He isn't a Pro Rider and tbh - nobody needs anything better than slx. Lovely up to date components. I would gladly take this bike.
and it is the dream to get a custom paint partly done by your wife
but yeah better components would have looked better and would seem like a more kind gesture by canyon...

Weil Fabio halt schon immer das gemacht hat, was ihm gerade gefällt. Und das zählt.
@@jansijmons Das sei ihm auch gegönnt. Die Interesse gehen halt einfach auseinander und mir persönlich gefallen halt seine Bike Videos am besten und da ist man dann ein wenig auf Entzug zur Zeit.
Aber mit dem geilen Bike wird ja hundert prozentig wieder was kommen!

They could put real photos of the final finish of the bike on the page, so they are not surprised when they receive a "raw" painted frame, which is not pleasant for everyone.

It’s not a for sale bike. It’s some guy they sponsors bike that they custom painted for him and he would have chosen the spec and the bike to be able to do barspins
It doesn't seem like they make an exception with the models for sale, I myself bought the torque a few months ago and it seems that they painted it the same way as the video, it has many poorly painted details and Canyon's response was "they are all like that"

Ist schon ein cooles Bike. Da hatte der Fabio bestimmt viel Spaß in Kanada.
Ich war überrascht, daß da einfache Kabelbinder und Schrumpfschläuche benutzt werden. Ist einfach und schnell.
Aber was für eine Flüssigkeit kommt da in die Räder?
Das ist Dichtmilch für die tubeless Reifen. 😉
Warum "nur" SLX und keine XT teile?
Das Ding kostet 3000 Euro da bekommt man bei den anderen Marken nicht mal SLX

Awesome video! The bike build was so satysfying how everything fitted perfectly. There was only one thing, 12:46 the disc brake rubbed slightly ;)

Wie lange hat der Aufbau vom Mechaniker gedauert?
Der Aufbau für so ein Rad dauert unter normalen Umständen 3-4 Stunden. Beim Dreh war es aber etwas länger, damit jede Szene passt. 😁

Tell her I said hi! 😁 The case is not available for purchase as it's entirely custom build from the mechanic.
@@CanyonBicycles Sad but probably unchangeable. My sister has made her master (bike mechanic) before she started in the hotline. I am a metalworker and I would also put it together myself.

Ich glaube nicht, dass Canyon sich die Mühe macht, ein solches Video zu drehen, wenn die Parts komplett unpassend wären. ✌🏻

Ein Grund für mich, sicher kein Canyon zu kaufen ist die Unterstützung von Personen, die sich paramilitärisch und als neumodischer Gladiator zeigen und dann ab und zu ein halbherziges Bike Video drehen. Es gibt draußen so tolle Talente, die den Spirit des MTB leben und für ihren Sport an anderen Stellen extrem sparen müssen, die es deutlich mehr verdient hätten.
Nur meine unwichtige Meinung….
Ich fand die Anfänge von dem echt lässig, aber mittlerweile finde ich den nur noch unangenehm.

Is ein schlechter Scherz Fabio nach der Jahrelangen Zusammenarbeit so ein Rad mit der miserablen Ausstattung hinzustellen.
Schlecht? OK es hat keine fox Kashima und kein xtr aber vielleicht braucht er es gar nicht und nen fox x2 Performance arbeitet genauso gut. High end heißt nicht immer gleich besser.
