A 1993 Plymouth Grand Caravan LE was the second Chrysler minivan we owned. In all honesty, it was the smoothest riding vehicle I've ever owned. It also exceeded the claimed gas mileage returning just over 26 mpg on every tank. We had 190K miles on this van when one winter morning a neighbor chose to blow a stop sign in front of us and I impaled my 3.3L engine on his rear pick up bumper. I was less than delighted. So was my wife who, if she could have gotten her door open, may have end this poor fellow. I think I'm on our fifth Dodge minivan since that accident. The ones that survived past 200K miles succumbed to transmission failure.
You know, holding onto those parts may not be the worst idea anyway. I'm wondering if one day these vans are going to start becoming collectible... Gen Y/Millennials who grew up riding around in these wanting a piece of nostalgia or something. There is a totally mint 93 Base Caravan on Bring A Trailer right now, already over 5k...although it is a really really nice one.
@mostlymoparih5682 I had to look that acronym up lol. No they do not have a central fuse panel under the hood. There is a panel inside the cab under the steering wheel. There are also some relays mounted on the fenders. There should also be a bunch of fusible links tied together in the wire harness near the firewall on the driver's side. Those tie into the positive cable directly off the battery. Check out like episode 8(I think) of my 90 caravan revival. I actually had a corrosion problem at that location (lost power to most places) and had to install a bus bar in its place.
Assuming second gen. Does it learch and stall or seem like it just shuts off? Does it have any aftermarket antitheft devices that could be interfering? Does it shut off if you put it in 1 or 2?
Wait! What? You have a Mopar minivan that survived 30 years? I'm calling you out as a fibber. No Chrysler transmission of that era still exists at this point in time.

Too bad about the TC. I think I'd have shared the same emotion as your wife lol!

Oh dang that one you're talking about is a 5 speed!

Looks very uncomfortable to use and vague to shift lol.
The air filter for this year 3.3 is located behind the battery, correct? Good video. Happy Motoring.
Yeahp! It's in that rectangle plastic box that mounts to the strut tower.
So where is the TIPM located or did they not have tipm's back then?

Thanks.
