While AI can automate certain tasks, the need for human judgment and expertise in cybersecurity remains crucial. AI can certainly be a tool to aid cybersecurity professionals, but it's unlikely to replace them entirely. I feel the same way about most professions. AI will not replace ALL lawyers but it will replace the lawyers who fail to enhance their productivity using AI.🤖

I've heard a lot of ai experts, people who are really right near the center of it all, assigning a relatively large % chance of full existential risk to hummanity from ai in the next couple decades.
I'm no expert, but from what i've been seeing, I assign a large % myself to it taking over many tech jobs in the coming decade or two. That's if it doesn't outright kill us.

Good points but its clear that AI will kill entry-level jobs for cybersecurity. Only experienced professionals who know how to use AI and have strong communication skills will remain. It will be a lot harder for inexperienced people to find jobs (already very hard). Also, I disagree with your point about increasing cyber attacks due to AI would mean more jobs as AI could also be used for defense and analysis against them, reducing the work an individual has to do. The future of the job market as a whole looks very concerning.

So yes, AI will replace many, especially around lower level, technical focused professionals, hence facilitates the need to improve poeple skills. Poeple that are good at thinking and communicating ideas are always at low percentage, which means most likely the competence bar will be raising, and relevant professionals are condensed. And no, AI will not replace all professionals, the locus of responsibility will always be human, which means no matter how great AI generated output seems, someone has to sign it off and take responsibility if it goes wrong. So finally, one should stop dreaming that one set of skill will ever be enough, diversifying skills is becoming paramount.

The main factor,is that AI will be a fad in the begining. After a series of very costly mistakes, the human will take over their jobs.

@@WYSbyAdamLash AGI is a hypothesis. We don't even know if it's possible to make at all. And it's not about if AI can do technical positions. It's that we will always need humans to manage AI systems because of security purposes, ethics, auditing, etc. Why have only AI when you can also add the human brain to it? It's not like black hat hackers will ONLY be using AI. No, they will also use their human critical thinking. If you go against a human and an AI and you only combat it with an AI, you will lose every time.

I want to get the Security+ to brush up on my knowledge and along with the Google Cyber cert before/while I start getting hands on experience and eventually CRISC/CISM/CISA. I honestly want to dive into CRISC right now and pass, then certify when I have the 3 years of experience!! I’m very aware of the cyberthreat landscape, but not so much hands-on experience or skills. Is that a good plan? I value your opinion so I’d love to know what you think!!
